Texans random thought of the day

It would be different if he actually knew and could prove it.

What we do know is Rodgers didn't play a part in Saleh's firing or Hackett would be the HC and instead Hackett got demoted. This is a fact. We also know Saleh wore a patch supporting Lebanon on his shirt on Sunday and was fired Monday. That's another fact.

Lets just deal in facts instead of saying things like that's not why Saleh was fired when he's got no clue as to why Saleh was fired.

There's an old saying when you hire a new employee, you dont worry about hiring them, you worry about the trouble you will have firing them. Fortunately for the Johnson's and the NYJ, Saleh handled his firing with class.
I read owner wanted to fire Hackett also but Rodgers "saved" him. We may never know.

The Texans really need to improve on that +8-point differential.
I'm afraid this schedule probably won't allow that.

Although maybe we can pummel the rest of these AFC South teams to run up good numbers but I feel history tells us those games are always close enough even if it's still a one sided game.

If a player is suspended for a PED violation does he forfeit his salary for the games missed?
Yes. Edwards Jr. wasn't popped for PEDs but he's losing a good chunk of change.

If I can find the tweet that highlighted what he's losing I'll post it.

The Texans just need to beat the teams they should beat and quit playing down to their level of competition. The AFC South is a large part of that level, considering the schedule. Regardless, if the Texans plan on making noise in the playoffs, they need to get their collective arses in gear and beat some good but lesser teams by more that one score.

Naturally but as we've seen before and we've been ones to do this also. Those other teams can also raise their level against divisional opponents too. The Colts and Titans especially don't have any great love for us. If there's ever a game they play that's above their usual standard it's often against us.

I think we got more for Akers than we did when we traded Mark Ingram.
I guess it depends on how you see value. I see 6th and 7th round picks as almost identical in value. Those rounds are mostly guys who get cut to the practice squad or are essentially the UDFA guys that you really want to make sure you get.

So I see swapping those picks as minimal value whereas just flat gaining one of those picks as larger value.

It's really splitting hairs and somewhat pedantic though. Overall neither is a trade that excites me. I'll choose to trust Demeco and Nick here but I'd prefer the value of having a depth guy that I liked what I saw from him.

Akers is a replacement level back with an injury history. It's no accident that he has been on three different teams by the age of 25. To get anything for a RB who has been on several teams by the age of 25 is good stuff.

The value in a 6th rd pick is you can pair up a 4th and a 6th to move up in the 4th if there's a guy you really like.

What do those teams have next to the Texans on their schedules? Moderate, difficult, VERY difficult, forget it?

Just gotta take them one at a time. I didn't think we'd beat the Bills but we got that one. Of course I didn't think we'd get destroyed by the Vikings either. No telling what the injury report says down the road for these teams. Sucks that the Lions lost Hutch but I do feel better about CJ's life expectancy now.

Nobody is stopping the KC Swifties from 3-peating though, so I don't even know why we're even playing this season.
The KC Swifties as you call them haven't exactly dominated so far this season so I am hardly ready to concede the championship to them.

Right. And yet they're 5-0.
So what? They aren't exactly dominating and there is plenty of season yet to be played. Our Texans are 5-1 but I don't see anybody conceding a championship to us. Yes the Chiefs won the last two titles but winning a third in a row is a daunting task.

The Minnesota Vikings are also 5-0 and it could be argued they are better than the Chiefs at this stage in the season. There isn't any team dominating all their games at this time, so as far as I'm concerned I am not ready to place any championship predictions on any team just yet.

Was it a couple of seasons ago when the Steelers started 7-0? My wife is a Steelers fan, so I watch them just about as much as the Texans. They never looked right during that season and flaked out in the playoffs. Let's hope this is that type of season for the "Chefs"

Edit: It was the 2020 season. The Steelers started 11-0, finished 12-4, and lost in the wild card round to the Browns.

And neither had Taylor Swift in the mix and the eyes she’s bringing to the game that the NFL sees as $$$.

Look, kinda of 3/4 joking, but the Vikings are playing good football. That’s why they’re 5-0. Does that mean Minneapolis should start roping off a parade route? No, of course not. KC, OTOH, is not playing all that great and they still can’t be beat because they seem to always get that critical call. I’m not one who buys into the conspiracy bullshit but it seems more often than not anymore that the NFL really challenges that.

I'll say this. KC looked even more like crap last year, and they still managed a way to get it done. You don't count out a Mahomes/Reid-led team, especially when the refs help out.

Tenn is releasing Jamal Adams. I fully understand he's not THE JA we know from his Jets days, but I wonder if he's got enough juice to be in the mix here at S.

There are some other possibilities out there as well, like Micah Hyde and Ryan Neal.

At corner, Xavien Howard is still sitting on the couch. So is Patrick Peterson. J.C. Jackson, Keon Crossen who has history here. None of these guys would require a trade.

At LB, Devin White, Shaq Leonard, Tae Davis, and others are street FA's.

Whether by trade or signing a street FA, I'd like to see one each at LB, CB, and S added sooner rather than later.

All of these would be more of a depth piece than a starter at this point, but we're thinner than a super model on a diet at these spots. We need bodies.

Blaming refs is weak sauce. KC is beatable, but you can't beat yourself, and you've got to have your playmakers make plays. They are a high quality team with superior coaching, but it's not an impossible task.

Thanks to their partnership with God'ell and the gamblers/refs.

The Chiefs winning is good for business.
Don't for one minute think the Chiefs ARE NOT gonna win the SB this year. Are you kidding?? A chance for the NFL and its golden boy Mahomes to make history for the three peat? It's as good as in stone already. Between Mahomes and no nalgas Swift there is now ay the Chiefs don't win the SB this year. 5-0 and playing like mere mortals. They will win the SB with all the help the NFL can provide. ~~

I'll repeat...THREE SB's and the Chiefs OLine has had ONE, ONE holding penalty called on it.
Mahomes leads the league in interceptions that were NOT called INT's because of defensive penalties nullifying the INT. I know, I know there are lots of variables that go into this but, 17 of them, 17?!?! Just saying.....
And I'm with you about the conspiracy theory thing, but these kind of things make you go hmmmm.

It is obvious that the refs back the Chiefs. Especially when you experience it first hand year after year.

Yes it’s weak sauce but when it comes to that team it’s facts. They get bailed out to often by the refs especially at the most critical time of the game.

Why? You'd get a lot more juice out of LA, or a NY team. There's zero reason to push some smallish market midwestern team. It's complete and utter bullshit. Just like it was complete and utter bullshit when the Patriots were the darlings for over a decade.

Breaking news - damn good coaches with damn good players do damn well year after year. That's your conspiracy. The rest of it is nonsense.

Stats never lie. Go look up the stats. And then watch a few Chiefs games.

Why? Perhaps because they always do whatever they can to help along franchise QBs. From rule changes to bailing them out like the Mahomes reversed INT stat number, they do whatever it takes. That's the why.
