According to overthecap.com, the Texans will need $15.074 million to sign their 2022 draft picks. That would leave the team with 89K in cap space. Time to start slicing off the roster fat, Nick.

Maybe we should trade picks and players for cap space again?
Ugh, just kidding.

If they can’t move WD40 prior to the draft I would target future picks in trade down. Less money needed to spend on this year’s rookie class.

For some cap space and draft picks are more important than players. Even though teams like the Bucs/Rams have proven this to be a fallacy. This narrative has been put out there by the owners who put profits over winning. (Looking at you Calhoun) Unfortunately a lot of fans have bought into this theory, because that's the way business had always been done until recently.

2020 Bucs
2012 - Lavonte David
2014 - Mike Evans
2015 - Ali Marpet, Donovan Smith
2017 - Chris Godwin
2018 - Vita Vea, Ronald Jones, Carlton Davis, Alex Cappa
2019 - Devin White, Sean Murphy-Bunting, Scotty Miller
2020 - Tristan Wirfs, Antoine Winfield Jr.
All draft picks. That was the core of the team. That is the talent that drew the GOAT to Tampa in the first place.
2021 Rams - 12 starters that were homegrown. Including a 3X DPOY and the 2021 Offensive POY and Super Bowl LVI MVP Cooper Kupp. Without that core, there was no point in adding Stafford, Miller, and Ramsey.
You have to build a core in the draft. Everyone knows that (everyone except you). Then, you can add the finishing touches in free agency and trades. The Texans are years and years away from that point.
They did add Brady/Gronk/Fournette/AB etc... in FA. You know top tier type FA's.
I do agree that the foundation needs to be built through the draft and I hope Caserio spends the next couple of seasons building the foundation. Then I hope Calhoun spends the money in FA to make HIS team a true championship contender. He's going to have to let Caserio do his job and do away with the Not Texans Worthy motto.
Were Gronk, Fournette, and AB considered top tier FAs?
Weren’t they both basically out of football? Gronk was retired & AB was AB.Gronk/AB were top 5 at their positions.
Weren’t they both basically out of football? Gronk was retired & AB was AB.
And then they weren't.
Regardless, they were top 5 at their positions and the Bucs spent the money to get them. Like the Rams did, except they spen their money through trades.
They wanted to play with Tom Brady and Brady wanted AB.. Without Brady you weren't getting either.
And where our team is and has been the last few seasons I don't want a malcontent like Antonio Brown anywhere near the facility

So we are trending up?Just so we don’t run out of things to bellyache about….
FIVE years ago today, the Texans traded Brock Osweiler AND a second round pick to the Browns!

I’d say a better pass rusher in Martin. The Hopkins trade… lol!! That was tuhhrible! What did we get for Hopkins and Clowney again?

How many snaps during that period?Clowney - 12 sacks, 38 QBH
Martin - 10.5 sacks, 16 QBH
for the money for sure the Calhoun's got the better of that deal. How many snaps during that period?
Sure, JD was on the field more, but if Martin is the better pass rusher, why is he not on the field? How many snaps during that period?
I’m just asking because it’s the other side of the argument. That & money.Sure, JD was on the field more, but if Martin is the better pass rusher, why is he not on the field?
So you'd be cool with adding a guy like Brown who has been accused of rape and sexual assault, to get over the hump to win a Super Bowl. Interesting...Agreed about AB. Unless he's the last piece you need to win a ring like he was with Brady. This isn't a problem the Calhoun's have to worry about but if they rebuild the team and are contenders in 3-4 yrs then I hope they would take chances on guys to put them over the top like the Chiefs/Bucs did. Unfortunately I dont think this will ever happen with the religious cult down on Kirby.

Are those numbers SINCE the trade? or just one year? I just never really liked Clowney as a pass rusher. One trick pony bull rusher. Very good run stopper though.Sure, JD was on the field more, but if Martin is the better pass rusher, why is he not on the field?
And though the number of snaps may have Martin edging out JD in sack percentage, JD still had a better percentage of QBH and TFL. Negligible differences if nothing else, but not enough to say one was clearly better than the other ... in that time period, of course.
Not enough twitch, no bend. Are those numbers SINCE the trade? or just one year? I just never really liked Clowney as a pass rusher. One trick pony bull rusher. Very good run stopper though.

Caserio was linked with Michel in NE.
The love affair with Driskel is hilarious. FFS they better stick his ass as 3rd TE or something. He's a horrible BU QB

He'd be a f*ckin tank commander, for sure.what better QB to lead us into the 2023 draft?if Davis Mills traded?
In Lovie we TRUST, but I'm well prepared for Illinois 2.0.Surprised by how much Kirksey got from Texans. Guess they will be skipping upgrading MLB via draft.
