Houston Texans Roster News: Nick Caserio Makes His First Move

But my point is Rootes ain't even been asked before. If he was asked, that's an "improvement" maybe next time they'll consider his input (if there was going to be a next time). But I highly doubt if he goes to another team, he'll have any input on GM.
Ok. I was wrong.Yes, he was part of it. A simple Google search yields quick results:
Houston Texans Owner Bob McNair Discusses the Plan to Hire Their New General Manager
"There will be a four-person committee to make the hire of the next general manager: team owner Bob McNair, vice chairman and COO Call McNair, head coach Bill O’Brien, and team president Jamey Rootes."
"The general manager is going to have full authority over personnel, and he’ll report to Cal and me,” McNair stated. “That's our message to potential GMs. We know what we want. We’ll pick somebody that Cal and I like, coach O’Brien likes, and Jamey likes. We pretty much agree on what we’re looking for."
It all started with O’Brien winning a power struggle with Rick Smith (or Smith leaving of his own accord). OB endorses Easterby, the rest is history.QB, Pass rusher, CB, OT, WR. The top five most important positions on a 53 man roster. At the BEGINNING of 2017, Houston had All-Pros/Future Pro Bowlers at 4 of the 5 positions. They now have traded away 2, another had been asked to be traded, and another has been granted his release. How do you allow this to happen?

That has to be Riddick trying to get a jab in and I'm guessing he is referring to Brown, Hopkins, Watt and Watson. 2 of them have not been close to All Pro or Pro Bowlers in the seasons since.QB, Pass rusher, CB, OT, WR. I disagree about WR.
What are your top 5 positions on an NFL roster?I disagree about WR.

This sums it up right here.
Which is why I added the stuff inside the parenthesis. I don't really know all the reasons for his departure, there has been speculation there was more to the decision of him leaving than his wife having cancer. There had been rumors that he and O'Brien weren't getting along. I've heard other stuff as well, nefarious activities but I don't know what to think about that.Rick had outside circumstances like his wife getting cancer if memory serves.

I prefer an elite WR vs an elite TE, so I value WRs over TEs but I can definitely appreciate a top notch TE.QB/LT/edge/TE/CB

Like I stated I can appreciate a great TE but I'm still valuing a WR over the TE. To the bolded, that's more of a scheme effect.Look at the last 2 SB's,
Tampa Gronk, KC Kelce
SF who has avg WR's, Kittle and KC Kelce.
I read somewhere how much impact a great TE can have. His abilty to block in the run game and split the seams in the pass game opens up a multitude of options for offenses in both the run and pass games.

I really enjoy logging into this site and seeing an ad with DeAndre Hopkins pitching some new version of deodorant speed stick.
Just dandy. Here's another pound of salt and my wound. Have at it.
2 top WR's, 1 top SWR, and 1 top TE need each other to be highly effective. There'll eventually be a mismatch in every game played to be exploited by a smart OC.
Even in the years of Kubiak's top offenses they didn't have all that
No team does.
Chiefs and TB were pretty dammed close. It doesn't have to assembled in one draft but good drafts could assemble this in 2-4 years.
I wouldn't say the Chiefs were Kelce/Hill are great. But I see CEH/Watkins/Robinson as avg guys and Hardeman as a hit or miss guy.
True about Tampa Bay, but they were only avg at the RB position.
I think Fournette will be a completely different RB in 2021. TB and TB could see him finally live up to his potential.
So .... Assuming the Texans move on from Watson.
I see Zach Wilson as being the best QB in this draft - Yes , better than Trevor Lawrence and while not as good as Watson today , the potential is there , making it easier to pull the plug on the Watson era.
Would the Texans draft a Mormon ?
Seems to me no way the Easterby Texans draft that guy ...
Someone convince me that if the Texans had the #2 pick they wouldn't screw this up.
It’s still February. The media hasn’t crowned their next prince yet.Someone convince me that if the Texans had the #2 pick they wouldn't screw this up.
Hopefully Caserio is making that call.So .... Assuming the Texans move on from Watson.

I wish there was something I could say or do to convince they would not. Unfortunately I also have a high confidence that a FUBAR of the highest magnitude is on the way.So .... Assuming the Texans move on from Watson.

I’d really rather argue about things they did or didn’t do & not what they might & might not do.I asked this weeks ago and if JE has something to say about probably not.
Wrong religion.
JMO but a shutdown corner like dolphin Howard across from Roby would take pressure off our defensive pass rush. I want to go with what we have and not draft anyone as a pass-rusher until day 3. If a vet FA pass rusher wants to come here for a one year cheap prove it deal I would be down for that probably.QB, Pass rusher, CB, OT, WR. The top five most important positions on a 53 man roster. Please do not tell anyone nut but I am in ongoing negotiations with easterby to replace Toro. Now that the Easterbunny has his own never before been GM, never before been headcoach, his own assistant Holy Man hired the other day, all of which owe their existence to the Easterbunny, (but for all media purposes were hired on merit and experience), what is the next Texan role he will provide a candidate in his image to further his mad rush to the top?
Wow! Tight end over wide receiver? That truthfully surprises me unless you are just speaking for A few teams.QB/LT/edge/TE/CB

Wow.A great TE opens up the entire offense.
My theory is, he who controls the middle of the field controls the game.
Somebody's going to get a real difference maker when they draft Kyle Pitts. I would pick him before I chose Chase/Smith/Waddle etc....
