Glad Cal realized that daddy’s ways weren’t working. You know what they say keep doing the same thing expecting different results...

Good riddance “raise ticket prices after 2-14 season” Rootes. “Raise concession prices annually” Rootes.

Hopefully they bring in “Winning games is the path to success” friend of Easterby.

QB, Pass rusher, CB, OT, WR. The top five most important positions on a 53 man roster. At the BEGINNING of 2017, Houston had All-Pros/Future Pro Bowlers at 4 of the 5 positions. They now have traded away 2, another had been asked to be traded, and another has been granted his release. How do you allow this to happen?

Now that the Easterbunny has his own never before been GM, never before been headcoach, his own assistant Holy Man hired the other day, all of which owe their existence to the Easterbunny, (but for all media purposes were hired on merit and experience), what is the next Texan role he will provide a candidate in his image to further his mad rush to the top?

It all started with O’Brien winning a power struggle with Rick Smith (or Smith leaving of his own accord). OB endorses Easterby, the rest is history.

Glad they didn't hire this guy as GM.

That has to be Riddick trying to get a jab in and I'm guessing he is referring to Brown, Hopkins, Watt and Watson. 2 of them have not been close to All Pro or Pro Bowlers in the seasons since.

Ehhh. I think most good football teams have at least 1 upper echelon skill player (rb, te, wr.) Out of that group wr's have a longer tenure then rbs, and typically more impact then te's.

I wouldn't say I'm glad we didn't get him as a gm purely because that comment. Seems a bit harsh.

Which is why I added the stuff inside the parenthesis. I don't really know all the reasons for his departure, there has been speculation there was more to the decision of him leaving than his wife having cancer. There had been rumors that he and O'Brien weren't getting along. I've heard other stuff as well, nefarious activities but I don't know what to think about that.

I was never a huge fan of Rick Smith. I considered him to be an average GM and said so often. Everyone that has held that position since he left, whether as interim or given the job permanently, has utterly sucked at that job and THAT is why we are where we are at now.

For the record, I don't think Riddick would have been a good GM here either. And really, I think the job came with the caveat "must be willing to work with Jack Easterby".

Anyway, I feel bad for the hardcore Texans fans. I feel it's going to take a very long time for the Texans to right the ship. Many more terrible seasons. Another regime change. Maybe another 3-5 year round of playing quarterback roulette like the one they went through after Schaub.

Look at the last 2 SB's,

Tampa Gronk, KC Kelce

SF who has avg WR's, Kittle and KC Kelce.

I read somewhere how much impact a great TE can have. His abilty to block in the run game and split the seams in the pass game opens up a multitude of options for offenses in both the run and pass games.

Like I stated I can appreciate a great TE but I'm still valuing a WR over the TE. To the bolded, that's more of a scheme effect.
 
2 top WR's, 1 top SWR, and 1 top TE need each other to be highly effective. There'll eventually be a mismatch in every game played to be exploited by a smart OC.

I wouldn't say the Chiefs were Kelce/Hill are great. But I see CEH/Watkins/Robinson as avg guys and Hardeman as a hit or miss guy.

True about Tampa Bay, but they were only avg at the RB position.

I see Zach Wilson as being the best QB in this draft - Yes , better than Trevor Lawrence and while not as good as Watson today , the potential is there , making it easier to pull the plug on the Watson era.

Would the Texans draft a Mormon ?

Seems to me no way the Easterby Texans draft that guy ...


Someone convince me that if the Texans had the #2 pick they wouldn't screw this up.

Depends on what the easterbunny's "Texan way" is. If it's evangelical, then no way. If it's just a choir boy who doesn't get in trouble, then the Mormon boy definitely checks that box.

I wish there was something I could say or do to convince they would not. Unfortunately I also have a high confidence that a FUBAR of the highest magnitude is on the way.

JMO but a shutdown corner like dolphin Howard across from Roby would take pressure off our defensive pass rush. I want to go with what we have and not draft anyone as a pass-rusher until day 3. If a vet FA pass rusher wants to come here for a one year cheap prove it deal I would be down for that probably.

Please do not tell anyone nut but I am in ongoing negotiations with easterby to replace Toro.

A great TE opens up the entire offense.

My theory is, he who controls the middle of the field controls the game.

Somebody's going to get a real difference maker when they draft Kyle Pitts. I would pick him before I chose Chase/Smith/Waddle etc....

How does it take pressure off a pass rush that doesn’t exist? And don’t you have that backwards? A pass rush is supposed to take pressure off the secondary, not the other way around. The best DBs get beat when the QB has days to throw. So, while having Howard would be great, I think it makes little difference without a pass rush.
