Texans could have played Atlanta and replicated NE's showing and you'd still ***** about the poor first half showing

Sad thing is you really believe this.

There is over a decade of observations of this team that make me think they are headed for failure within the next 3 yrs. Seen it/Lived it, it's happening again with another young QB.

This offseason we are basically talking about the same stuff that we've been talking about for the last decade and 2 different HC's.

I do believe it... and your response has nothing to do with what I posted

You don't believe Watson can be a franchise QB?
What other things can Texans do to be true contenders?

I hope he can, the jury's still out and will be for a couple of yrs.

He better be or the Texans org is in for a world of hurt. The division now is full of football men and they are catching up to the Texans quickly.

To answer the rest of your question, the OL still stinks and lacks depth. The DL lacks depth, who is the NFL starting safety opposite Hal and if injuries happen will we see more of the dumpster fire that is Corey Moore? Can K.Jo stay healthy (He hasn't his first 2 yrs in the league.) JoJo is he over the hill? K.Jax is nothing more than a slot CB who periodically has injury issues.

None of this speaks to the lack of depth on the roster because the GM doesn't have a clue how to build a roster. But hey, they may have the QB of the future. If I had to guess I would say Ricky whiffed again in his on going pursuit of a QB. (I hope I'm wrong) Just putting what I see out there.

Lack of depth yet the 3x DPOTY goes does down and the defense hums along just fine. Secondary is ravaged with injuries, CB4 ends up signing a huge contract elsewhere.

Offense we use to only have Nuk now we've added more weapons. Does the QB position still lack? Absolutely. Has WR, RB, and even TE to an extent improved? I think they'd make other roster around the league.

But yeah we suck. Depth sucks. Owner is a moron. GM is an imbecile. Knock the stadium down. We doesn't deserve to play football.

You forgot about the "huge mistake they made in round 1" that our QB guru hates and wanted no part of, yet praises and compliments every time there's a mic to his face. This place sure is hilarious 90% of the time, isn't it? LMAO

Only on this forum will we hear someone say the DL lacks depth when we are getting JJ back! And Clemson's defensive captain added to the mix.... our Dline is stacked!

Don't forget our starting LT missed the first four games, our starting RT missed the last nine games. Our 2nd round Center didn't play at all & our OL was rated middle of the pack... not dead last. Not bragging, just saying that shows "depth" is not as bad as some would have you believe.

DL would be the absolute last of my worries going into this season. Why even mention injuries since they could rear their ugly heads regardless of how healthy the defense is come opening day. This group is set. IMO, I'd really like to see Vrabel keep Watt and Clowney as DE's in their 3-4 set and in the 4-3 set. The rotation of Reader and Watkins in the middle will eventually become invaluable and could be amazing when the Texans run a DL featuring Clowney, Watkins, Reader and Watt on the field at the same time.

I'm also thinking the best way for the Texans to handle their LB'ers would be to move the slower but still volatile Cushing to OLB where his physicality and size could be a perfect fit for setting the edge. Mercilus is living up to his name and could become even more dominating with a healthy JJ and Clowney on the field. McKinney made strides in the middle and could very well make the final tweaks to his game...making him a players DC's will have to account for. That leaves Cunningham, if he proves he can handle the heat as starting ILB, then this could be an upgrade since he's got coverage skills that Cushing just doesn't have any more.

I'm satisfied with the depth at every position, which should allow for good substitution packages to keep these guys fresh.....but as we all know, the best substitution package would be a better offense that could stay on the field longer and give them more leads to protect and maybe a few blowout leads that will allow them to pin their ears back and have some fun.

Can't wait til next year to see the same posters saying the same things.

Been happening for the last decade

And lost Wilfork.

What if as CND has predicted that Watt comes back as a she'll of himself?

Mightt I add the OL was terrible last year

And added Watkins plus Reader/Heath improving going into 2nd year. It goes both ways...

Will shell of Watt be an improvement over 90% of starters in this league? Yes.

I think you are very underrating the impact of Wilfork and have never suffered a back injury.

Personally, getting Watt back will more than make up for the loss of Wilfork - Reader was a surprise packet last season and can only get better.
Watt seems pretty confident and playing games this far out from the season can only mean he will continue to heal.

We all hope

But this MB's medical professional, who's right about 95% of the time has his doubts, which makes me, and should make you take pause. (Remember Shaun Cody had the same injury and never played another down.)

I hope think Watt will be good the 1st part of the season, but as his back starts to wear down late in the season his play will suffer.

Steel - you've been saying the same thing for 10 years now. I don't if doom and gloom is your thing or maybe it's just a here thing but I cannot remember you ever saying a single positive thing about this franchise.
Have we won it all? Nope.
Have we improved? Yup.
Let me ask you this, do you think we're ANY closer than we were 10 years ago? Is the roster better? Top to bottom.

Could JJ break his back, Clowney blow his knee out, Cushing lose a leg? Absolutely! But every player runs the risk. All we can do is hope for the best. The day I give up as you've seemingly done, I'll find another hobby.

Nope

What I've said is unless the Texans get a football man in charge and change the way they go about acquiring players they will never be a true contender. If you consider that to be doom and gloom so be it. Truth hurts sometimes.

If you're wife didn't make you buy season tickets, would you still be a fan of this team or would you prefer they left town also?

She doesn't make me buy tickets. I do so by choice.

To answer your question, I see the Texans as a better marketed Oilers part deaux.

I thought you've told me numerous times that you only buy tickets and go to games because your wife insisted

Would you prefer they left town also? Why or why not?

Yes

Because I want an owner who puts winning 1st.

I can watch games on direct TV and go to the games I choose, so I really wouldn't/didn't miss the NFL at all. As a matter of fact I found other things to do on Sundays and life is/was good with or without the NFL.

Do you personally know any business owner that doesn't put making money first? What's the best way to make money in the NFL if it's not winning?
