Texans random thought of the day

First no trade of Tunsil without a left tackle on deck whether that is Jackson or either Josh Simmons if healthy or Josh Conerly. I would love to have all three.

My first trade thoughts when I realized that Garrett Wilson could be in play, was LT for Wilson straight up as a post June 1st trade as that allows the most cap savings from Tunsil of about 21 million. I would use that money to extend both Wilson and Stingley for their first year of new deal 2026 not 2025.

Then I heard of the possibility of Jets wanting a round one and a round from 2026. That sounds low to me but it would get us to the table. The key is new coaching for New York may realize that they are without a quarterback, wide receiver Adams leaving and basically only Garrett Wilson on the offense. My thought would be Jets would trade 25 and pick 7 to get their QB. I can see the Giants making a move to number one for Ward. I think Jets and Raiders would be okay with Sanders and my understanding is Daddy Sanders is okay with both of those teams. This creates a problem of teams bidding against each other in upping the kitty. Free agency QB to Raiders would open that up.

Jets get Sanders; round two their Wilson replacement ; round three get their safety.

Texans get slam dunk in Garrett Wilson adding a star at a prime need position that may be even better than Nico Collins. Also be a alumni in former Target of Stroud makes it even better. I would offer Hutch, Metchie and Tank Dell.

My new Left tackle in hand, I open bidding for Tunsil. Let's say I am wrong and the Bears beat me to Alaric Jackson. I would go get either Simmons or Conerly even if I had to trade up a bit. In fact; if Simmons could start Game one , he might be even a better situation than Jackson money wise . Cleveland and Washington both should offer good packages for a left tackle. Cleveland's 33 and 67 plus a round one in 2026 would get the deal done.
Got a question, what has Wilson done that you can't get in the draft. We're not talking Jefferson Chase, or even a healthy Nico. Did I miss something? I like Wilson, but I think you can draft his production if that's what you want.

Two answers should explode into obviousness. First is he's done it in the NFL. The second is you never know if you're going to draft the guy you want when you get to your pic. Now at 1.25 you can probably guarantee you will get Bond or Harris or Restrepo.

We have Nico and almost zero. Why not lock in a thousand yard rusher and then draft one or two players you think will become those type of players? Everyone considers Garrett Wilson a superstar I guess but you?

79.3 receiving grade. 2024 68 % catch ratio. After week 14 of last season, he was tired for First with two other wide receivers for most forced tackles at 19.
Three consecutive 1,000 seasons and he’s 24.

Stroud would have a fit if they moved Dell…

Sounds like they want to make their current investment in the OL work through coaching and any additions would be for depth.

IMHO, the current talent has consistently remained as one the bottom tier NFL OL units.

I do have higher hopes regarding the right side, since they looked much better down the stretch and only had, almost, a half season together as the starters.

If I’m Caserio, drafting a Day1 starter like LG- Donovan Jackson (Ohio State) is a must….in the event Howard continues to suck arse like I fully expect, it’ll be important to have a plug-n-play replacement.

Whether he was being extorted for a reason or not, he was guilty of hanging with the wrong crowd.

Don’t think I want to pay him the market value for his production coming off a torn ACL while also having all the team answer questions about whether he’s a distraction all offseason (right or not) AND deal with the fallout of him associating with “un Texan worthy” people.

Agreed.........and most WRs coming off of an ACL have very compromised performance.

Well, Demeco better draft a stud DT, Safety, Linebacker, and DE in this draft to go into the 2025 season with a shutdown defense. Otherwise, Demeco will experience his first sub .500 season as HC, and Stroud might not make it past the middle of the season healthy.

By this logic, why draft anyone? Last year, a rookie Brian Thomad Jr and a rookie UGA wr had better season than Wilson. Both of which the Texans could've drafted. 11 ypc is not impressive, plus he's looking at a contract extension. There are quite a few wrs in this draft that can give the team the production they need plus some mid tier free agents. Neither will cost the team draft capital. Before you bring up the qb, BT Jr had Lawrence who isn't good.

Trade for Wilson and draft your Brian Thomas in this year's Matthew golden.

You think it's the defense that needs the most attention in this off season?

I'm on board with drafting these positions after fixing the OL and drafting a TE. I'm not so much worried about the lb position.

I wasn't a fan of the move especially when you give up a 2nd rd pick. Now he's a free agent, 2nd rd pick gone, and 16m dead cap.
I was a fan of the move at the time. Not after seeing how Slowik used him as an upgraded version of Robert Woods. Not worth the price for that role.

Prior to his injury he looked like he was still capable of more. But limited by the way he was deployed in Slowik’s offense. Now post ACL and another year older who knows what a team will get.

Stingley is smiling this morning!
Really getting concerned about being able to pay everyone (CJ (who is a lock to stay), WAJ, Sting and maybe Bullock and Lassiter down the road).

ESPN sources: Former Falcons center Drew Dalman reached an agreement today on a three-year, $42 million deal that includes $28 million guaranteed with the Chicago Bears.

The deal makes Dalman the NFL’s second-highest center. Steve Caric of Wasserman negotiated the deal with Bears GM Ryan Poles, who has poured his resources into Chicago’s offensive line.

Glad we passed on him.
