Texans random thought of the day

If you believe the NFL is rigged you could make a possible case that the NFL is trying to pad the Jaguars wins hoping for them to be the home team in London. At least that makes some kind of twisted sense. But even hypothetically I see no obvious financial reason for the NFL to prefer the Colts over the Texans in the playoffs. In fact Stroud the rookie phenom is probably a bigger story & draw than anything about the Colts.

I don't believe the NFL is fixed but even if I did I still would not believe they are dead set against the Texans no matter who they are playing. That's not rigged that's paranoia. Everybody is against us even the refs kind of thing.
Paranoia doesn't mean that they are not out to get ya!

I feel like there must be some record/nice stat about CJ throwing receivers above 150/close to 200 yards in a game. I believe he’s thrown Collins Tank and Metchie very high yardage and each of them at least twice? Must be a rare thing for a QB to be comfortable with so many different receivers. Once you get above 100 yards in a game you are doubtless tipping your hand to the D “staring the receiver down” to an extent, it’s the QB 101 of how to be successful to not do that, yet CJ is so precise he is able to do it repeatedly and with a rookie and even Brown who’s a journeyman. I wonder with Brown if the market pays for his performance when healthy or accounts for his lack of availability, would be nice to have him back and draft a rookie to put him 4th on the depth chart.

I'm drafting the best player available in the first rd and that's most likely going to be WR. If you liked the offense last night then imagine adding another stud wr and RB.

If everything fell perfectly i’m filling up the roster with playmakers on rookie contracts and replacing them with other playmakers on rookie contracts when it’s time to pay them. If Stroud is the guy we hope he is he’ll be able to get production out of talented playmakers even if they are only around 3-4 years at a time due to his massive contract.

We think a lot alike

I can’t find the video on YouTube. Sorry.

But it’s Colin Cowherd saying Stroud ain’t talented enough to overcome a rookie head coach, a below average roster and a weird owner.

Makes me feel good.

These sports experts are mostly full of crap. We can do the same thing they do, look at the games, study a few stats, and make a few silly predictions. At the beginning of the season, they have no more idea of what's going to happen than we do. If I remember correctly, there were a few people on this board that predicted the 10 wins. At the time, most of us laughed at that.

Here is another reason for optimism with this regime. In O'Briens entire tenure in the regular season he only won 14 games against above 500 teams. This year alone the Texans have won 6 against winning teams.

Colts 9-8
Jaguars 9-8
Steelers 10-7
Saints 9-8
Buccaneers 9-8
Bengals 9-8

Considering the Broncos finished 8-9, there were only three wins against bad teams and two of those were the Tits.

2022 Texans Turnover Margin: tied for 9th worst (-1)
2022 Texans Takeaways: tied for 3rd best (27)
2022 Texans Giveaways: 31st (28 total)

2023 Texans Takeaways: tied for 7th best (24)
2023 Texans Giveaways: 1st (14 total)

I know it is a different coach/scheme, but nice to see the defense be consistent while the offense greatly improved. Would have been even better but Case threw three INTs.

Now they just gotta get those penalties down.😅

McNair family drama

As someone who has guardianship over an adult child (my middle son is our, special needs child); guardianship proceedings can get weirder and bizarre in a hurry. I don't think this will get bad, but damn if it doesn't have the potential to
From CBS basically the same info.

Stinger defensive player of the month.

Proud of Stingley bouncing back. I am hoping the Texans have plenty of opportunities on the national stage these next few weeks to show off some of their talent.

For the first time in our history, Texans special teams are truly special. Outside of a couple of miscues they were once again an A+ unit to me.

I’d offer Frank Ross a lifetime contract and be done with it! That guy is the man, and I was so happy when DeMeco retained him. Great great coach. A true star of coaching that nobody knows.

Aren't the Texans the only team in 2023 to return a kick off for a TD?

Gotta wonder if a team will hire him to be HC someday. John Harbaugh was the last ST coach I can remember becoming HC. But he had experience coaching different units. Wonder if Ross is happy where he is or if he’ll push to coach another unit to get on the HC radar?

He’s a great coach and happy he’s a Texan!
