So, with Texans fans also rooting for the Browns and Chiefs, I figured a quick fan guide of players to watch for this Sunday would be helpful.
Connor Shaw/Tyler Thigpen (Browns)
You may have heard, but the Browns are having some Texans-like issues at the quarterback position. The original starter, Brian Hoyer, is nursing a shoulder injury. The team's first-round pick, Johnny Manziel, is out with a hamstring problem. So, who will be under center for the Browns should Hoyer not be able to go?
That's where Connor Shaw and Tyler Thigpen come in. Shaw, an undrafted rookie free agent out of South Carolina, had quite the college career for the Gamecocks. While obviously unproven at the professional level, Shaw is the winningest quarterback in Gamecock history, going 27-5 during his time in Columbia.
Thigpen, who was signed on Tuesday, has had stints with the Vikings, Dolphins, Bills and Chiefs during his career. Thigpen spent this past offseason with the Browns, but was cut in late August.
Jamaal Charles/Albert Browns (Chiefs)
Most people in the state of Texas should be familiar with the Chiefs lead back, Jamaal Charles, either from his days at the University of Texas or from their fantasy football league drafts (Charles is always a high pick). The talented runner has picked up 979 yards on the season, averaging 5.1 yards per career.
On the receiving side, Albert Brown has emerged for Kansas City in recent weeks. Undrafted out of Georgia State, Brown has 12 catches for 209 yards in the team's last three games. Eighty-four of those yards have come after the catch, as Brown has proved elusive in space.
If there is one thing we can all agree on...go Browns and Chiefs.
