Texans Playoff Picture

If we sneak into the playoffs would you rather play Steelers or Colts?

If we did get into the playoffs It could be the colts, the steelers or even the bengals...

all depends on a couple of games (denver-cincy and cincy-pitt)

and I'd rather the bengals :D

we are 2-0 against them in the playoffs :D

(meaningless stat, I know)

i cant see the stars aligning for the texans, we're just not that fortunate. i'd rather play the colts though. they have a great quarterback, but that's an otherwise flawed team. the steelers are never fun in the playoffs, and now that they've relocated some of their former selves with a strong ground game they could make a very real run.

Mort & Schefty are now saying Hoyer is probable to play.

If we can keep Texans team doctors away from him he has a chance. :kitten:

We need to get into the playoffs. Just so we can play the Bengals and eliminate them again. How sweet would that be?

couldn't agree more, especially if it followed with a win against pittsburgh. it would feel like the germany/brazil world cup game for me ... the cameras pan to the tears of defeat as we win 40-3 and exorcize some AFC central demons.

Not as sweet as beating the Colts first.

You know how hard it is to beat a team three times in the same season? & it would be @Indy.

So if Houston somehow gets in the playoffs they will play the winner of the Bengals/Steelers game next week. Or am I missing a scenario that gets Indy with the 3 seed?

All scenarios I've run show Indy as the fourth seed and the winner of the bengals and steelers as third seed. But if Cinci wins and the Broncos loose, then we could wind up playing Denver.

I think with Cincy winning tonight, we play the winner of the Pitt/Cincy game if we get in

I just ran one with a Cincy win + Denver loss where Cincinnati is the 2 seed and Denver the 3 seed. A showdown with Peyton looks to be the only other possible matchup..

Yeah. I just found that one too.

only way that happens is if Cincy wins in Pittsburgh and the Raiders upset the Bronco's in Denver

I think it's pretty safe to say that's not likely... not impossible but not likely

If Cincinnati and Pittsburgh tie this week, then we would play Indy in round 1 if we get in. Also Cincinnati and Pittsburgh would have a rematch in round 1.

It's about the same long shot as our making the playoffs. Cleveland would have to be better than they have been the last few weeks.

According to pft.com

Yep. Even if Miami and KC win this week, a Baltimore and SD loss would put 5 teams at 9-7 and the Texans holding all the tie breakers:

Conference winning percentage against Miami, KC and SD
Head to head win against Baltimore

SD is at KC so that loss is a very real possibility. Every Texan fan should be a Browns fan this weekend.

All of this assumes that the Texans don't pull a choke job against a nothing-to-lose Jags team. Especially with a fourth-string QB.

From 2-14 to playing in Week 17 for a winning record and a playoff spot. While using 4 QB's and Foster missing several games. Regardless of how this weekend turns out, this season has been a success.

Looks like we didn't beat up the Ravens enough for the Browns game.......only 3 on the Injury Report Wednesday (as opposed to 9 last week). As it stands now, the Browns are 9.5 point dogs in their upcoming game with the Ravens.........OUCH!!!!

Maybe they are going to play at 80% which means healthy players are inactive?

Hey. I'm grasping at straws.

In the last 2 games, the Ravens run game has been virtually non-existent. Last week, despite the fact that Fourcett was not on the Injury Report, I felt he was still suffering from a knee injury he sustained a couple of weeks ago.........I caught him limping after a couple of plays. If he (still not listed on the Injury Report) continues to play injured and poorly, this could give the Browns who have the NFL's worst run defense a little break. To help out even more, their RT was just put on IR with a Lisfranc........and their LT Monroe missed both of this week's practices, specifically due to a recurrent ankle injury. Even in the unlikely event that he can play, he is likely to play like he's injured........If he can't go, LT will be relegated to a rookie.

For Mussop who is so interested in the Chargers Injury Report.

All you have to know is that the Chargers are 29th in rushing offense........and after last game where their center was knocked out, this week they will be on their 5th center of the season. KC has the 3rd rushing defense in the league.

The Chargers' game will not be helped with their RB Ryan and WR Keenan unlikely to play......or play anyway and play like they are injured.

And as far as the Chiefs.......WR Bowe, their OG Fulton, and their LB Tamba Dwayne DNP Wednesday or Thursday....and are therefor a question mark, even if they play at all.

Dang I thought Houston was jinxed at QB

msr!

Just sucks knowing it will come down to Cleveland and there isn't much chance for that to happen.

Wouldn't it be hilarious if the Chiefs lost but the Browns won.

No, Houston getting screwed by the sports gods is an old, tired joke. It would be hilarious if we made it into the post season after everything that's happened.

So, with Texans fans also rooting for the Browns and Chiefs, I figured a quick fan guide of players to watch for this Sunday would be helpful.

Connor Shaw/Tyler Thigpen (Browns)
You may have heard, but the Browns are having some Texans-like issues at the quarterback position. The original starter, Brian Hoyer, is nursing a shoulder injury. The team's first-round pick, Johnny Manziel, is out with a hamstring problem. So, who will be under center for the Browns should Hoyer not be able to go?

That's where Connor Shaw and Tyler Thigpen come in. Shaw, an undrafted rookie free agent out of South Carolina, had quite the college career for the Gamecocks. While obviously unproven at the professional level, Shaw is the winningest quarterback in Gamecock history, going 27-5 during his time in Columbia.

Thigpen, who was signed on Tuesday, has had stints with the Vikings, Dolphins, Bills and Chiefs during his career. Thigpen spent this past offseason with the Browns, but was cut in late August.

Jamaal Charles/Albert Browns (Chiefs)
Most people in the state of Texas should be familiar with the Chiefs lead back, Jamaal Charles, either from his days at the University of Texas or from their fantasy football league drafts (Charles is always a high pick). The talented runner has picked up 979 yards on the season, averaging 5.1 yards per career.

On the receiving side, Albert Brown has emerged for Kansas City in recent weeks. Undrafted out of Georgia State, Brown has 12 catches for 209 yards in the team's last three games. Eighty-four of those yards have come after the catch, as Brown has proved elusive in space.

If there is one thing we can all agree on...go Browns and Chiefs.
