Have you been paying attention? He doesn’t gamble on all the plays, just the ones the QB doesn’t throw his way.Sting has six interceptions since the beginning of last season. I don't recall him gambling much on any of them.

Then u not paying attentionSting has six interceptions since the beginning of last season. I don't recall him gambling much on any of them.
I guess it's some kind of judgment stuff because I'm not seeing much of the gambling that Mr TeX is claiming is there.Sting has six interceptions since the beginning of last season. I don't recall him gambling much on any of them.
There was the double move in the Colts game that Richardson overthrew. Hey Anthony, not every pass has to be 100 mph.I guess it's some kind of judgment stuff because I'm not seeing much of the gambling that Mr TeX is claiming is there.
There’s also the double move he bit on in the AZ game that he wound up recovering and was able to make a play on. That happened to him several times in that game last year. There was the double move in the Colts game that Richardson overthrew. Hey Anthony, not every pass has to be 100 mph.
Stingley has bit on coverage, played the wrong leverage, and missed tackles this season. And he's still the CB I would take over anyone else to go up against Justin Jefferson this Sunday. There’s also the double move he bit on in the AZ game that he wound up recovering and was able to make a play on. Yep, all of the nitpicking. The Texans have a young guy who's a top 5 CB and some posters still seem unhappy.Stingley has bit on coverage, played the wrong leverage, and missed tackles this season. And he's still the CB I would take over anyone else to go up against Justin Jefferson this Sunday.
Not unhappy, but will admit am nitpicking.Yep, all of the nitpicking. The Texans have a young guy who's a top 5 CB and some posters still seem unhappy.
I will give you two to one that they don't.All this talk about Stingley and gambling has me worried the league is gonna suspend him!
Yeah and I don't think that was a risky gamble on Stingley. I just think he got beat. There was the double move in the Colts game that Richardson overthrew. Hey Anthony, not every pass has to be 100 mph.
Hey Sweech, leave those nits alone! Not unhappy, but will admit am nitpicking.
You think Derek Stingley is the weak link on defense over the defensive tackles and linebackers and safeties and the cornerback opposite him?I see him as the weak link at this point in time as he seems to have an issiue with awareness. Yes, I seem unhappy however he is going to become a very good corner.
He's a top 5 CB. Give me some more of those weak links. He had a bad game for him last game and it still would be a better than avg game for most CB's. BTW, Moore is a very good WR and makes a lot of CB's miss tackles. You think Derek Stingley is the weak link on defense over the defensive tackles and linebackers and safeties and the cornerback opposite him?

Yep, the Bears weren’t able to protect Williams long enough to take deep shots. I hope the communication issues on the back end have been fixed. It was totally a poor risk. He should have been playing over the top of the receiver. If Richardson had thrown underneath, the pass could have misfired and gone to Stingley, anyway. It was a game of poor choices by the secondary, and the Texans survived.
He was big time late in that game with the 4th down pass break up in the end zone vs Brian Thomas who had been cooking Lassiter. I noticed late Meco started letting him travel with Thomas in critical 3rd downs and he didn’t disappoint. and then he had the other pass break up he nearly intercepted on the drive Jax had before we scored the last TD.
That’s what he’s here for… must stop situations stick Stingley on their best target. He was big time late in that game with the 4th down pass break up in the end zone vs Brian Thomas who had been cooking Lassiter. Agreed, early on they always try to keep him to 1 side. but as Kirk and Thomas started to get off against Pitre and Lassiter, they started matching Sting up a little bit more with those guys.... or at the very least putting him in the vicinity from a zone perspective with whomever was the hot guy at the time for the Jags. That’s what he’s here for… must stop situations stick Stingley on their best target.
I think that has as much to do with Lassiter. If the Texans move Stingley around for matchups, then they also have to move Lassiter. And they probably want some stability there, get him to learn one spot before exposing Lassiter to everything.Agreed, early on they always try to keep him to 1 side.

They're both grading well, giving up little yards & scores.I’d like to see Ryans get both Stingley and Lassiter up on the line to challenge receivers from the get-go versus having them play what looks like almost 10 yards off the ball.
Today, CB @stingjr became the first cornerback in NFL history to record two interceptions and two tackles for loss in a game.
hell no!Do you trade Sting for 2 ones next year?
Trent Green. No offense to Trent Green. But he kinda sucks as an analyst.I had a bit of a rant in the gameday thread about one of the analysts on the coverage yesterday got on about Stingley after his first INT saying he had gambled, what if Tyreek double moves him etc.
These are the facts:
Don't let Bobby get hold of him... Please God, NO!Sting is playing at an elite all-pro level. He started out this year very good, and has taken his game to elite as the season has progressed.
His hands, body control, hand-eye coordination, height, speed, and overall athleticism can match just about any WR out there. And he plays the run, too. What's really taken him to elite status is his anticipation and knowing when to jump routes and when to hold back a bit. Right now, he's at the top of the profession at his position. I know there are a few others who are elite or close to it, but Sting is the best of the best right now.
He's so good, Bobby should recruit him for offense! He'd make a damn good #2 WR!
I would play Stingley 10-15 plays per game at WR and have him run go's, hooks, post patterns and back shoulder fades. No slants or over routes. He's got the speed to stretch the defense opposite Nico and would open up things for Schultz. I wouldn't break this out until the playoffs.I had a bit of a rant in the gameday thread about one of the analysts on the coverage yesterday got on about Stingley after his first INT saying he had gambled, what if Tyreek double moves him etc.
I think Stingley is using that incredible makeup speed he has to step off defenders, appear to give up more space often and then close that gap with the ball in the air, it seems to be working wonders for him, giving QBs big problems reading his coverage. Some point your going to have to throw it to your top receiver I guess.
I loved his 2nd INT vs Miami too, to go up and take the ball out of the receivers hands in the air. Just wow.
This was a good WR and QB the Texans faced on Sunday, we saw pass rush and back end step up and make them look very ordinary.
DL rotation is getting healthy, LBers getting healthy hopefully stay that way when Azeez returns, back end healthy minus Pitre, but rookie performance of Bullock and Lassiter covers that absence very nicely.
If the OL can come together we have a Defence that can give the opportunity to beat any team they face.
Hell yeah!I would play Stingley 10-15 plays per game at WR and have him run go's, hooks, post patterns and back shoulder fades. No slants or over routes. He's got the speed to stretch the defense opposite Nico and would open up things for Schultz. I wouldn't break this out until the playoffs.
Sting is too important to the defense to get cute with on offense. I'm thinking of a word, two syllables. First part is a meat or a sandwich. 2nd part is something that is attached to a yoyo. Don't post it, just think about it.I would play Stingley 10-15 plays per game at WR and have him run go's, hooks, post patterns and back shoulder fades. No slants or over routes. Sting is so good that he seems to be reverting to his rookie year at LSU .. 21 passes defended 6 INTs!Sting is playing at an elite all-pro level. He started out this year very good, and has taken his game to elite as the season has progressed.

Interesting for 2025 IF we bring in another corner to start when Sting on offense. He definitely has hands and eyes for it.I would play Stingley 10-15 plays per game at WR and have him run go's, hooks, post patterns and back shoulder fades. No slants or over routes. Could you imagine the cheers if Stingley received five touchdowns in 2025 while maintaining his stats on defense? Can you imagine the uproar if Sting got injured playing offense? Do not tempt the injury Gods!
Pulled pork?Sting is too important to the defense to get cute with on offense. I'm thinking of a word, two syllables. First part is a meat or a sandwich. 2nd part is something that is attached to a yoyo. Don't post it, just think about it.
I wouldn’t do this, but I would sit all the starters week 18 and hope that’s enough to keep Travis Hunter away from the Titans!I would play Stingley 10-15 plays per game at WR and have him run go's, hooks, post patterns and back shoulder fades. Can you imagine the heads exploding if the Titans spent yet another high first on a QB? Or Hunter or Jeanty being there and them taking a QB instead?I wouldn’t do this, but I would sit all the starters week 18 and hope that’s enough to keep Travis Hunter away from the Titans!
