Texans @ Chiefs AAR

Ross gets his guys fired up and I think the shove is part of the enthusiasm and the way Ross coaches his unit and they probably do it all time. However, he should be cut. You force a fumble and instead of following the play through to maybe block on a fumble return or even recover the fumble, you're taking off your helmet and throwing it. That's some stupid, selfish, look at me crap.

I'm okay with that call.
You’re joking right? You and the chiefs fans are probably the only one. There was no threat of a pass b/c he was well past the LOS and he was clearly a runner. he was also fake sliding trying to bait the defender into hitting him…bottom line U can’t slide that late and expect to not be hit let alone be rewarded by the refs. There’s already enough rules protecting QBs in the pocket.

& to cap it off, he wasn’t even touched by the defenders, they wound up hitting each other.

The only call more egregiously called
/not called that I’ve seen from a ref crew in the playoffs is that non-call PI on the Rams in that playoff game a few years ago.

Go open a cold one and calm down brother..trust me I too was screaming at the top of my lungs after that roughing call. But I’d already gotten my blood pressure up after that BS call on WAJ in the 1st.
It is rigged though.. by the definition of rigged, it's rigged. Two of the worst PF calls I've ever seen.. that's some rigged ****. And we're not talking about 1 game, it's been happening all year, their own fans freely admit it.

I almost wish we had a prime David Carr on this team.. If he got Mahomes treatment during his rookie season, all our drives would've ended up half the distance to the goal line with the hits he took.

I didn't agree with SteelB when he said someone needs to take him out. But if you're going to get flagged anyway and he's going to play like that. Take him out.. regardless it's 15 yards either way, why not?

The team should’ve told Boyd after the Ross shove, “You’ve got one penalty left in you. We’re sending you on a CB blitz… make it count!”

Okay. If that had gone the other way against CJ I would have wanted that call and pissed off if it hadn't been called. The flop, on the other hand...
He was past the line of scrimmage and didn't slide.. he's not a QB. Also one QB in this game had to be helped to the sideline. If that happened to Stroud I would've questioned his decision to slide or not (which I've done multiple times this season).. not the defense.

That was a horrible call anyway you cut it.. it was a blown call.

Also he slid when he was about to get hit. In no way was it an early slide

The officiating sucked but something we could have overcome if not for 3 of the worst playoff performances I have seen in a long time:

1)Azeez-I almost wish you made another targetting play in the 1st drive and got kicked out of the game again. Your pass coverage is a liability and you are the Achilles heel of this otherwise super bowl caliber defense. I do want to see you in a Texans uniform ever again. Enjoy those lifetime concert passes Swift will be sending you.

2)Schultz-your pass blocking is almost as bad as Azeez pass coverage (ie, non existent). I can’t believe I am saying this, but Stover was sorely missed.

3)Fairbarn-you need to spend the rest of this winter in KC learning how to kick in the cold. Your ass needs to spend this offseason as far away from Hawaii.

Boyd is defensive in this interview about the questions being asked, “Y’all see me every day… you know i’m not that type of person.”

Do something dumb on the big stage like push your freaking coach… don’t be surprised when you get asked about it.
Imagine you're him, you made a big play, forced a turnover in the biggest game of your life against the back to back world champions.

He doesn't see the flag.

He was amped. He's excited, takes his helmet off & throws it 20 feet ahead, not spiking it down in anger.

He goes over to his usually animated & emotional position coach to celebrate. Similar to a chest bump he taps his coach on the chest in celebration... imagine hard that it would have looked completely different if there was no flag & Houston had possession, that's the situation Boyd thought it was.

But Ross is like, "No, calm down. We didn't get the ball & they penalized you."

That's what Boyd is saying, he wasn't mad at anyone, he didn't even know there was a flag.

If Ross and Ryans think he's good with Ross, then I question their professionalism. His contract is over [end of NFL] season & his 7 tackles for season can be replaced easily.

It was just totally unnecessary at that point. Punt the ball away - no way the Texans were going to overcome a long field plus get two scores with such little time left. Smacks of game-fixing for the bookies.....
O/U was 41?? Ish…
Not sure how that helped on that front

We need to upgrade our interior line postions yesterday before CJ gets killed.
OLine coach has to go there is no excuse for us to be making the same mistakes anytime we face teams running stunts/twists against our pass protections.
If we knew we were going to get hosed on phantom roughing the passer calls someone needs to just take Mahomes out take the ejection and we have an advantage.

Offensively we moved the ball and looked good..we just didn’t have enough playmakers to really be able to put pressure on KC

Looking forward to what this team does with the WR group..and o-o-line.
This right here. We lacked playmakers due to injuries. Hopefully nic can come away with some weapons in the draft whether that's a WR/TE/RB

I was pleased with how Hutch played in this game. Gives me hope for him being a good WR3 or WR4.

Mostly I love that the team came to play today, fought from start to finish, and didn't do anything stupid to beat themselves. It wasn't enough this year, but it will be next year.

what are you talking about, didnt do anything stupid to beat themselves? Did you watch the 1st play of the game? Did you see Boyd throw his helmet onto the field? Did you see us trying a 55yd fg into the wind instead of punting it? We did plenty of stupid things to beat ourselves

You have to score more than 12 if you are going to overcome a good team plus the bias in officiating.
The way I look at it is you deserve to lose if that is the way you decide to play on special teams. Especially on the road when you are big underdogs. We lost all momentum when care bear **** the bed and shanked that extra point.

Yep, a lot of people either won or lost big bucks on that safety.

Exactly my position. If you’re gonna get nailed for it, take him out.

When Troy Aikman says, “Oh come on!” you know sh!t’s f’cked.

The number one biggest reason we lost was poor offensive line play. Not only that, I saw them just standing around while CJ was getting chased down. This has been going on all season. The culture of that position group is all wrong.
Giving up 8 sacks is unacceptable in what was a one score game for 2 1/2 quarters.

One of the locks of Texans football is Karebear missing an extra point in a crucial situation.

Now the season is over, should we have one thread bringing all off-season thoughts into one place? Trades, draft and free agency as well as coaching/ GM decisions could move three or four threads into one as a suggestion.

And what would you call that thread? “All off-season posts go here”
