Texans @ Chiefs AAR

Caserio has worked with Ryans and the defensive braintrust to draft and acquire players that fit with their scheme and desired attributes. In two years they have turned an abysmal unit into one of the most feared defenses in the league. The Texans can coach up middling talent to fit with their system and they have improved over the past two years.
There is no such progress on the offensive side of the ball. It is not because they haven't invested money, trade and draft capital into the offensive line, or recieving corps. I believe the Texans have invested the second, or third most proportion of their cap in the line in the league. Caserio has certainly spent a lot on young lineman in the draft.

The problem is that Slowick and Caserio don't have a lot of background and experience in designing and building good offenses. I question their judgement based on two seasons of results. The Texans have lost many games this year that were such statistical anomolies because of their poor offense. For as much as you question the in-game adjusments on offense, the offensive braintrust has made so many bewildering decisions this year. Why was the team so slow to adjust and move to more quick passing options after it became apprent that their offensive line could not protect Stroud? Why was there no aggressive move to add another tight end, or reciever after the in-season injuries? Why did they rely so heavily on an aging back like Mixon? Why were they so slow to move on from Kenyon Green? Why did they decide to move Mason back into the starting lineup when they played so much better with Scruggs recently?

Ultimately, it will be Demeco's job to insist on changes to the offensive staff and scheme if they are going to happen. The attention to detail overall needs to improve and there has to be someone over there that inists on that on both sides of the ball.

We should have just hired Nico's brother Phil.

If we had, we would have had one more night to play the game. Could have said I don't care any more, its just another day in paradise, after surviving the divisional round on the day the Texans faced the Ravens or Bills we would have felt it in the air tonight against all odds.

Good job!
Good thing because it’s no fun being an illegal alien

I respected Manning and Brady, I do not respect Mahomes.
Peyton and Tommy weren't above some gamesmanship. Though nothing as blatant as Mahomes pulls.
I doubt we spend a high draft picks on OL. I don't think the problem is they Jimmies & the Joes.
The Texans have one of the least athletic O-lines in the NFL. You never see these guys get down the field and block. They can't pull. Or get out on screens. Or move their feet on stunts. Or reach block. Or...do their jobs.

Going into the season thinking this group could pull it together and be a plus offensive line was the biggest mistake of the year. More than all the bad calls, be they by the refs or Bobby Slowik. Nothing gets fixed without better Jimmys and Joes on the offensive line.

Mason been below avg all season. He's a try hard type. They don't have anyone dynamic beyond Mixon in the backfield. They also don't have any wr that can run by anyone

Like it or not Tunsil is the best we got at LT.
One of the better ones in the league.

Look at the playoff teams left.

Rams- Tunsil> Jackson in these playoffs
Eagles- Matuala (SP?) Had a few penalties today, but we'll call this a push.
Buffalo- Dawkins had a decent day, missed a few blocks on screens Bills didn't throw the ball that much, so no pass pro issues. Lets call this a push
Baltimore - Push
Washington- Tunsil > Coleman, a guy I really wanted Caserio to draft last yr and would look great next to Tunsil at LG.
Kansas City- Tunsil > Humphries or whoever else that they put at LT.

Tunsil is the least of this OL's issues.

A couple of dynamic playmakers would really make a difference on this team. Want to really improve this team?

Rd. 1 Tre Harris or Savion Williams
Rd.2 Harold Fannin Jr.
Rd.3 Isiah Bond WR Texas, Yes I think he falls this far
Rd.3 Trade up for Dylan Fairchild or Anthony Belton.

Sign C Drew Dahlman, Joe Noteboom and a blocking TE like Austin Hooper in FA. ( These guys should be cheap FA pickups, besides Dahlman) Along with Signing a cheap S like Mike Edwards and lets roll.

Playmakers with speed and fixing the OL.

The one offensive linemen who can pull sat on the bench, Juice Scruggs. The one who can’t pull, Shaq Mason played the whole game. Unless Juice was truly injured and unable to go, should of been no brainer to start him over Mason.

Like a lot of what you said, but unless they’re BPA when Texan selection is up, I’m taking BPA. Address as many needs via trade or free agency. Draft best player available who fits scheme.

No (letterman) jacket required to hire PC…unless Texans playing the patriots

You know I like Tunsil but Alaric Jackson at 6'6 345 is very good and 4 years younger. If we got him in free agency plus a heavy package trade, it has to be at least considered.

Trading Tunsil cannot be looked at as just the loss of a very good player but what we do with what we get for him.

These guys would be worthy of where I slotted them.

If a guy like Walter Nolan, or your guy Harmon is there at 1-25 they will be hard to pass up. But if healthy Tre Harris is equal to them talentwise. I think he runs in the 4.4's and he reminds me of another Nico. Bond has gamebreaking speed (Think of him like Worthy) and the only reason he falls this far is injury and the fact that he doesn't know how to vary his speeds on his routes, or when to sit down in zones. This can all be coached and you wouldn't have to count on him to be more than a 3rd WR. Fannin can also work out of the slot and is very dynamic with the ball in his hands.

Wouldn't it be great to finally have a deep young fast and talented WR corps that would be a threat to score anytime they touch the ball? Giving CJ options like this would give him a great chance to succeed.

What do you think about my FA options to fix the OL?

The Rams aren't going to let Jackson go. Tunsil > Jackson IMHO

If the Rams were to let Jackson walk in FA, then why wouldn't another team just sign Jackson in FA instead of giving up draft capital for Tunsil.

They had Diggs and tank Dell before injury but I agree with what you're saying

I provided a link that Rams were not sure that Jackson was a franchise left tackle and may be unwilling to bring him back at the extension he will be worth.
Other teams would go after Alaric as they did Danielle Hunter but Nick won. You are interested in Trey Smith and other teams would go after him.

Bears will probably take Kelvin Banks from Texas. The odds of him being anywhere near Tunsil's abilities in year one is probably nil.
I would not take Banks over Tunsil straight up. I would take 1.10 plus..
IF.. I could get Jackson in FA.

Jackson with Banks at left guard plus Fries or Trey Smith at right guard plus what we get besides 10 for Tunsil is interesting.

You probably won't have the money to sign both Jackson and Smith in FA.

I disagree but I'm off to bed. I'm pretty sure I posted what we could save by moving Mason, Howard and Schultz. The only reason to get Jackson would be to permit the trade of Tunsil which would also bring ~$14 million cap space. I think we can get jackson, fries and Trey Smith. Remember the APY does not set the actual cap for each year. That can be adjusted.

Will Campbell will go before Banks

Damn I just woke up to news that Buffalo beat Baltimore, that was our big chance. Reflecting on the game I think as much as the refs screwed us we did come up short ourselves as well.

Spotted them 3 on the opening kickoff, probably left as many as 10 points on the field with bad playcalling and missed field goals.

That isn’t sound fundamental football, it isn’t what is being coached all week, hard for the refs to boost Taylor Swift if you execute those things the way you practiced.

They gonna die on that Shaq Mason hill. What they keep doing with Howard os ridiculous. I've never witnessed or maybe my memory fails, that a team moves a right tackle to left guard. I've seen Ogden,Pace, and Tunsil go from LG to LT. I've seen a player go from rg to rt or vice versa. I've never seen one go from rr to LG and people wonder why he struggles. It's like going from throwing right handed to left handed.

You have to score more than 12 if you are going to overcome a good team plus the bias in officiating.
Let me be clear, I am not saying that we lost b/c of ref bias..Kaimi & the o-line made sure that there were other talking points about the game in that regard. But by all accounts, if this team is supposed to be so good, they shouldn’t need biased ref calls to get them over the hump in crucial situations either. My issue is those same calls aren’t being extended to the opposition…& the exploitation of the rules..particularly by Mahomo’s ***** ass.

Look We here all the time on game broadcasts and sports talk shows about how certain plays within a game help change momentum..change playcalling…change strategies..well referee calls do that too..particularly when they are bad. See the tuck rule play and its subsequent banishment from the rule books the very next season. And just like Kaimi’s missed extra point sort of sapped the team’s energy when they came back and were about to tie it, so too can a bad referee call on 3rd down particularly when you’re about to get off the field after a stop.

I just find it hypocritical of these front running ass chiefs fans talking about we’re “crying” about ref bias when We saw Mahomes go ape **** last year when his team got 1 of those calls called on his team that ultimately costed his team the win. Those same chiefs fans were up in arms in the 2018 AFCCG after the timely ref call against them costed them a trip to the SB after a Brady pic. It’s not just about this particular game. This is just another in a long line of absolutely CRITICAL calls being made for them that aren’t being reciprocated for other teams and players in the same situations is my big gripe.

They will keep him to justify that 2nd rd pick. BTW, the qb he supposedly made is in the afccg with a rookie and cast offs
I don’t read too much into that b/c It was bound to happen considering 1 guy was young and ascending and the other was older and was on the descent; 2 ships passing in the night. & when you consider Allen’s numbers in his 1st 2 seasons prior to Diggs’ arrival and his numbers the next with Diggs & how they absolutely exploded, both things can & probably are true. Diggs helped him ascend much faster than he he was looking like he otherwise would’ve imo. Aside from that, Allen did nothing special in the game against Baltimore yesterday…game manager type stuff.

Reality is if he wants to kick the stigma, he has to beat Mahomes & the refs next week.

Everyone is high on Golden now but at UH he dropped a lot of passes.
So you agree that he got better under Sark at UT his junior year where he was "most trustworthy " receiver?

987 yards at 17 yards per catch 9 TDs..as with most WRs he needs to work to be better.

I'm going to blame Meco for not adjusting and allowing 1 man to beat him. He stayed in that 3 deep just like Lovie stays in that 2 deep. Why have a 1st team all pro corner when you won't use him to the fullest. There is no way in hell BB is going to let 1 man beat him. Every 3rd down and passing down, Kelce should've been in a bracket. Especially when you know 0 can't cover anyone. Yet and still. I look up and Kelce is wide open in the middle of the field. Or on that td. 0 was looking in the backfield as usual vs getting depth to his zone.
