First it assumes Clabo is gone and right now he isn't.
Second Yeatman is a 268 lb TE. He's an emergency OT at best not a primary backup.
Texans site as him listed at 315
4 Yeatman, Will T 6-6 315 26 4 Maryland

I didn't make myself clear. With our positive cap situation, Clabo will likely go into training camp, but I'm expecting Yeatmann to beat him out. I think most here agree that Clabo needs to be upgraded. What?

OK, he's put some weight on then. He was a college TE, had 6 rec. for the Patriots as a rookie. He's got the size now but zilch for experience - sounds like a guy you throw in as a 3rd OT in the TE position rather than anyone you would dream of starting in place of one of Brown or Newton.
wiki says he put the weight on and switched before the 2013 season in Miami and then blew his ACL half way through.

I agree that Yeatman hasn't proven himself. We need to sign a veteran FA and draft a prospect. Clabo needs to be upgraded.OK, he's put some weight on then. On what basis would you expect a guy who has never started a single game in college or the NFL as an OLmen of any kind to beat out Clabo or for that matter any experienced OT?
Finau is a defensive tackle.

On the basis that Clabo appeared to be done last yr.
what has Yeatman done that makes you think he can play?
Nothing, which is why quality depth needs to be added/developed in the draft.
or later in FA, but yeah
Yeatman made it through the 2014 training camp until the final cut down to 53. He was not cut, but rather placed on IR. He had suffered a concussion during camp and may not have been fully recovered from his previous surgery. My recollection of that training camp was that Yeatman had performed OK and might win the third OT spot.what has Yeatman done that makes you think he can play?

I went back into the archives to see if my memory was echoed in the comments posted on this forum. Someone named Jayson Braddock seems to have attended practices and posted heavily. His viewpoint throughout camp was that Yeatman was performing well, could develop into a good swing tackle, was playing mostly on the left side and provided solid depth behind Brown.
In and around 8-4-14, Playoffs was posting that Yeatman was projected to make the final 53 roster. He was being projected to make the final 53 on 8-18, 8-24 and 8-26. On 8-30, The Pencil Neck projected him to be the backup behind Brown.
My projections for Yeatman is based on his performance last training camp.
Appears the NFL is changing the June 1 date to May 12 this year. This will effect both the compensatory pick formula and the noted "June 1 designation" for releases.
Andre Johnson still costing Texans a lot of money; J.J. Watt leads salary-cap list

Texans' 2015 salary-cap numbers
The Texans have a decent amount of salary-cap flexibility heading into the season with $7.834 million currently available under the NFL salary-cap limit of $143.28 million.
That should allow them sufficient room for emergency signings as players go on injured reserve and need to be replaced on the active roster and if they want to negotiate contract extensions.
Their salary-cap figure includes a recent $585,000 deal for defensive lineman Chris Neild and a $68,471 injury settlement for offensive lineman Will Yeatman.
The Texans carried over $966,613 from the 2014 fiscal year.
