TC isn't a typical member of the "media." She's a fan with a blog. Her livelihood doesn't depend on this. As just a fan, I totally don't care whether Arian answers media's questions of not. I think ALL press conferences are mostly useless, and anything the media gets from the players/coaches is hardly reflective of the reality. But I suspect I'm in the minority, and a lot of fans want to hear players' sound bytes and "opinions." I can also understand why a reporter covering the team would be pissed off if a player refused to give them anything useful. They have a job to do, and it really isn't that hard for a player to answer a question like "how do you feel" or "will you play this weekend"

Agreed.
How often has anything really useful or insightful gleaned from the coach speak, scripted responses that O'Brien has dictated the players use for every answer?
Hell, even under the previous regime, the knock was that the press couldn't get any useful info on player health from the coach. And all you got from the players was,
"Its a process"
"I'm doing what the trainers/med staff tell me..."
"I'm continuing to work through this..."
blah, blah blah...

Really well said. Pretty disappointed to read such classless posts from people on this board considering what an important member she has been here and the quality of work she has put forward.

It gets old having to read the constant objectification or degradation of any female involved in the sporting world.

Not that anyone asked, but Foster's confession is definitely news his buddies on the Houston Texans can use during training camp.

Foster went on to explain, "If you go in having any prior liquids in you, and dip your whole body into warm liquid relaxing every muscle, it's inevitable."

We smell a ploy to get the hot tub all to himself.

I'm guilty of not taking Stephany seriously in the beginning, perhaps her handle had something to do with that because I think a woman who would purport herself to be a serious journalist/blogger would not go by the pen name of "chic". But that was years ago, and I've discovered that she's very serious about her job/occupation and she would appear to work hard to inform herself and she seems to produce a descent product.

Steph's been here forever, she knows she is going to get ribbed if she gets into it with another girl. Just like if Texan_Bill gets slapped by a stripper or if cak gets cited for riding his death machine too fast or Thorn OD's on mangoes....

Every time I hear the name, I think of a hot young blond attired in daisy dukes, and it's inconsistent with professional decorum if she's interested in that sort of thing ? Maybe she's not, but personally I don't really give a damn because I've learned who she is when it comes to coverage of the Texans and I appreciate her efforts. I also like to hear her on the local radio and kinda think that's where she could make the best contribution. She's smart, articulate, and scrappy.

I concur. TC brings a lot of insight and analysis to her coverage of the Texans and has been a real benefit to the fanbase. That caveman garbage needs to die.

It's a tough job being a sexist caveman, but it's something some of us do quite well. :)

And you're right, TC brings a lot to the board and we all appreciate it. So does CloakNNNdagger and Playoffs, and we appreciate the things they post here. That doesn't mean we aren't going to have a little fun at their expense if we see an opening. I've repped TC a number of times for what she posts here.

No people who are so uptight and choose to be offended by everything under the sun need to die off. Was the "cat fight" stuff sophomoric? Yes, but it was said in jest and people need to grow thicker skin and stop taking crap so seriously.

Not sure if I like this, not seing our stars play some this week. But I guess in theory its more selfishness than needed. Since they are playing DEN all week in practice.

I'm not sure that I can accept the theory that these padded practices with other teams can translate and equate to even preseason real-game experience.......especially in the case of the always-believed all-important third preseason game. I can just see the vets looking very good in their Falcons and Broncos weekday interchanges............and the team falling flat on their faces when the 1st team is called upon in all actuality only for the first time to face true reality in the first regular season game. I'm not really liking this approach if that is what is in the works.

You have to look at the guys he's holding out...

Most of the starters are still playing...

Some are not due to injury...

And then you have a select few that he's lightening their load so they can be fresh when the season starts.

I don't think JJ Watt is going to fall flat when it comes time to strap it up for real. If anything, he's going to be chomping at the bit to finally be able to sink in and play.

I'm not that worried about proven players...especially proven players battling some injuries...
 
SANTA, Clara, Calif. - Peyton Manning approaches practice with a shark's purpose. There is no wasted movement, no lost focus. This week offers a changeup to heighten senses as the Broncos will work out with the Houston Texans for three days at Dove Valley.

The teams have agreed not to tackle to the ground, but having somebody else to face should increase intensity. Manning believes much can be gained, potentially affecting Saturday's game.

"Depending on how practice goes, that could alter the playing time (Saturday). We should get a lot of game-like scenarios this week, especially going against their defense," Manning said. "It will be a great test."

One play that probably will become a ghost this week? The quarterback draw. Manning took off against the 49ers on Sunday with a mind of optimism and feet of clay.

"That was a tendency breaker. It was probably not high alert on their game plan sheet: Watch for the quarterback run," Manning said. "I thought I was going to score, and I got 1 yard. It was humbling."
