Wow this site is quiet this offseason. WTF?
Take it for what it is: a bad thing.
I know my date is old, but most good running backs used to have an expected career of about 7 good years followed by 3 or 4 not so good ones.My thoughts exactly!
Here's the YouTube video of that hit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=52Onp_RqveY

LOL!Dudes a beast!
We still shoulda reached for a mediocre QB though.......
suck it. lol!!Just trying to be the best teammates we can be and do what is best for the forum
Post away playoffs, no complaint here!
From the first link :
I was a little annoyed last year when we cut him and he went to NY, but I was happy we got him back. I thought we should have carried him instead of Keo.
He and Grimes are two UDFA guys I like. But Grimes is going to have to get healthy or he won't be around much longer.
Jayson Braddock @JaysonBraddock · 29s
RT @chrisdevlin7700: @JaysonBraddock thought yeatman would develop into nice swing tackle for MIA. Ex-TE great athleticism
Jayson Braddock @JaysonBraddock · 26s
Yeatman has been playing mostly on the left side. Solid depth behind Duane Brown.
Jayson Braddock @JaysonBraddock · 1m
He's been a forgotten man since the Texans signed Tyson Clabo, but the O-lineman that jumped out to me was Will Yeatman.
Playoffs and Steelbtexan, finally some info on.........and it seems to be good.
bottom to top:
Great news
Badly needed depth.
I'm really looking forward to seeing the OL/Dl improve as TC continues. It appears that there is talent to be developed on the OL. Newton/Yeatman/Witzmann.
It's not all good news......
Just an FYI........Witzmann left today's practice with what appears to be an arm injury.
Clabo may not be looking so good now, as he sustained some sort of ankle injury early in Monday's practice.

The bandwagon is vacant after 2-14.
That's ok, they'll be back.

I dunno if I'd describe Clowney as big because he's actually kinda spindly-legged, so atleast in the lower body he's build more like a track guy than a football player. I don't consider him the physical freak that he's been billed because he's not the first guy to come along with that kind of speed, quickness, and athleticism for a player of his size/dimensions.Watt and Clowney are big dudes. They look like giants.

The important thing is that even if he's not the first with these athletic traits, he is in the conversation with that group that would include such stellar performers as Jevon Kearse and Demarcus Ware and more recently Aldon Smith and Robert Quinn, and we've not had that caliber of edge-rusher since the Texans have been an NFL team. Ever.

I don't see spindly legs .
His calves look spindly to me. Thighs are hard to tell how much is pads. But I almost made a comment earlier in the thread that it was amazing how fast twitch he was off the line with his legs.
There just isn't a whole lot of calf:

Clowney, the No. 1 rated player in the draft, did enough to show why, with a 40-yard time that was announced in 4.53 second, a vertical jump of 37.5 inches, 21 reps on bench and a 10-03 broad jump.
He had promised a 40 time in the 4.4 range, but at 4.53 is among the best ever for defensive ends at the combine. Four other defensive ends have run as fast or faster this century at the combine on NFLDraftScout.com's list.
The best time this century for a defensive end at the combine came in 2002 when UAB's Bryan Thomas, at 6-4, 266, was clocked in 4.47 and was the 22nd overall pick (New York Jets).
Clowney's 10-yard split was 1.56 seconds.
Three others had a 4.53 -- Lawrence Sidbury Jr. (6-3, 226, Richmond, fourth round, 125th overall to Atlanta); and two in 2013 -- Margus Hunt (6-8, 277, SMU, second round, 53rd overall to Cincinnati), and Cornelius Washington (6-4, 265, Georgia, sixth round, 188th overall, Chicago).
Clowney said he wanted to best Jevon Kearse's mark of 4.42, but Kearse actually ran a 4.58 and was listed as an outside linebacker when he came out of Florida in 1999. The last defensive end picked No. 1 overall in the draft was North Carolina State's Mario Williams in 2006 who, at 6-7, 299, ran 4.70.

OK here's the deal: pre-draft I was one of a couple people who were really kinda over the top in their protestations for advocating a Clowney choice, but now that we've got the guy I wanted I'm trying to manage my assessments and expectations for him and no, I'm now saying I don't necessarily think he's the second coming of LT. But he dosen't have to be, and neither does he have to be that impeccable physical specimen that's truly rare, you know, like a Mario Williams.
Hows that? Dont you need big, strong calves to jump higher and run faster?
Perhaps you might be familiar with some dude by the name of Michael Jordan. Arguably the greatest athlete of all time and unquestionably the most talented player to ever grace the hardwood. Have you ever seen his calves? Dude could jump out the building and had string bean calves. In actuality so does almost everyone else in the NBA."
Jumping ability comes from the glutes and the entire posterior chain. Its about rate of force development and your ability to express strength explosively. Calves have nothing to do with it.
Per 790, Arian back participating in practice today. Andre Johnson still sitting out.
Not to be cynical or anything, but being brought back this soon, have to ask myself.......for how long.
His calves look spindly to me. Thighs are hard to tell how much is pads. But I almost made a comment earlier in the thread that it was amazing how fast twitch he was off the line with his legs.

MIke Thomas and Duane Brown appeared totally fine but walked over to cart and left practice.
Jadeveon Clowney is living in the backfield... again. Looking for confirmation of reports of JD "camping out" with the QBs, "filling out his grocery list" back there. Defense > offense.
Mark Berman ‏@MarkBermanFox26Duane Brown and Mike Thomas leaving the field on a cart. Not sure what the issue is. Both walked off on their own. #texanstrainingcamp
Kareem Jackson, playing inside, picks off Fitz to Hopkins. Goes 100 yards. Brown and Myers chase whole way and jump on Jackson in endzone
Arian Foster back on the field. Waiting to see if he takes reps though
Arian Foster sitting on trainers table after talking 2 head trainer.Laughing while sitting there. Could be pre-planned on how much he goes today
Arian Foster with first 2 reps in run plays with Oline and Dline. Cut well. Looked good.
I miss watching how Sam Montgomery rode a bike during #texanstrainingcamp
Offense walking through some plays. O'Brien lining up at DB against Posey. Still has something left. Lateral movement still a question mark
Bill O'Brien said he wanted to take it slow with bringing Arian Foster back. The fact that he's in pads after missing two days tells a lot
Back catching punts, Martin, Thomas, Posey, Labhart. No Kareem Jackson anymore. #thedreamisover
Andre Johnson not dressed for 2nd day on a row
Arian Foster in full pads for 1st time. Missed 1st 2 days with what looked like hamstring issue.Great sign for #Texans
Greg Bailey ‏@GregBailey13MIke Thomas and Duane Brown appeared totally fine but walked over to cart and left practice.
Dave Zangaro @DZangaro#Texans offense wants to battle back today. Andre Brown bulls in for TD and entire offense rushes to offer congrats.
One word from #Texans team passing drill: Labhart. Reads blitzes, runs proper routes, scores TD. #aggies rookie has a chance here.
PDS @PatDStatBrandon Brooks, whom OB said was getting "closer" yesterday has ice on his back again. Still on Non-football injury list. #Texans
Arian is sitting on the trainers table. Had a couple carries in last team session. Might have had plan to limit him today. Not sure.
Arian Foster just got a carry in team. Busted through the line. Looked fine to me. Just one carry though.
Rookie Lonnie Ballentine isn't back in uniform yet either. He has a non "life-threatening" injury, according to Bill O'Brien. #Texans
Derek Newton back to return a punt to end practice. He catches it. #Texans
Kareem Jackson jumps a quick slant and picks of Fitz inside the 3. Doesn't stop running all the way to the other endzone. #Texans
Labhart with a nice catch for a TD over Mack. Gets the entire offense over to give him hi-fives. #Texans
Andre Brown hurdles a pile and runs over two defenders to get Into the endzone. #Texans
Busted coverage leaves Labhart open. Sidbury pulls up before getting the sack on Keenum. #Texans
Alex Kupper puts Brooks Reed on his back. #Texans
Posey wide open in the endzone drops the pass. #Texans
Alfred Blue has some good moves to get to the second level. Nice run between the tackles. #Texans
Newton holds his own again Watt there. #Texans
Clowney and Watt at the ends. Oh my. #Texans
Denham lead into the safety by Keenum. Starling pulls up before putting the big hit on him. #Texans
Hopkins with a catch in the middle of the field makes Victorian and Starling collide breaks free. #Texans
JJo with the interception of Fitz on an under thrown ball to Posey. #Texans
Mike Thomas with a strong catch from the slot. Breaks tackle and coverage from JJo.
XSF looked confused on that play. Gives up a free run to the QB. #Texans
Denham drops a pass from Keenum. #Texans
Clowney ended that play with a quick whistle. Would have been a sack on Fitz. #Texans

JJo with good coverage on Thomas breakup the pass in the endzone. #Texans
Brooks Reed covering today. Nice coverage on Foster downfield. #Texans
Joseph slowly coming to form. Looking better when he drives to the football. #Texans
7 on 7. Foster catches a pass with Clowney in coverage. #Texans
Jackson, Posey, Labhart, Thomas and Martin back returning punts. #Texans
Max Bullough coming down hill in a hurry. A throwback ILB that is not afraid to mix it up between the tackles. #Texans
Mistakes result in laps. Ricardo Mathews takes the trot for jumping offsides. #Texans
Jerrell Powe is hard to move just like Ben Jones just found out. #Texans
#Texans doing run game. Jerrell Powe creating a pile and makes the play on Alfred Blue.
#Texans headed to the team period. Arian Foster looks good on the it at run of the day.
#Texans doing plenty of individual work today.
Big Calves & Athletic Ability
This article talks more about jumping but coming off the line is similar to jumping forward.
Jumping ability is multi-factoral. This is one of the best pieces I've come across in the past that goes through the various factors that go into leaping ability. Elasticity plays a great role.
The Science of Athletic Ability
Elasticity of their TENDONS (with which unfortunately humans aren't gifted) gives the frog the unbelievable ability to leap forcefully for long distances.
Frogs' incredible jumping ability comes from their tendons, not their muscles
Hope it's nothing
The thing that stands out to me in this picture -- and a few others in that series -- is that it looks like our OLBs are Clowney and Reed. Probably going to be Cush and Tuggle in the middle.
Of course, it's still early.
