Every damn QB makes a lot of the same freaking mistakes. When Coach Sean P got suspended, did you not see the rookie type mistakes Drew Breezy was making. The great P. Manning was notorious for making very costly mistakes in the playoffs. Someone already pointed out after year 3 dude threw 80 interceptions. Wow so why the F are you being so critical about Watson. The stuff just doesn't make any sense. It's like you're trying so hard to be right thus the reason you keep going on and on. How about talking about the good things he's done for awhile. Maybe some of us will believe you're not just crapping on the kid. Especially after you called him what you call him.

I've seen plenty of Allen's games when I haven't been at the Texans games. He was one of my FF QB's. He's had a very good yr. I will bet you haven't seen one of his games and have only looked at stats.
BTW, we will see how much growth Allen has made this weekend.

Technically, Allen can't play worst than his 3 INT, 4 sacks, 2 fumbles game in week 4 against the Patriots. BTW. The Bills defense is so good, their franchise QB was intercepted 4 times and yet they only gave up 16 points and lost 16-10.

It doesn't but it's nice to have quality LT play.
That's different than saying DW4 isn't the guy to lead them to a championship. Normally guys make the pro bowl off of reputation after they've made their 1st pro bowl.

Here are two good views of what Watson was seeing on the two INTs. Watching the video, see when Duke Johnson raises his hand up and then watch where he goes. On the 2nd INT, just a great play by the LB. He did not fall for the play action. However, if Fuller runs an out instead of a slant into the heart of the defense, it's an easy TD.

I think on the 2nd INT, DW just needs to make a better throw. The trajectory needs to be higher so that it's an over the shoulder catch for Fuller. Either it's a nice catch by Fuller or incomplete.
You're mixing up arguments.
Watson's success vs BO'bs other QBs in the regular season is about O'Brien not being a great coach.
& regular season success means nothing (in my mind) about BO'bs coaching acumen. Or for the Texans in general.
Watson's only been to the playoffs once, it would be silly to base any decision about his ability off one game.

I don't think teams have figured out Mahomes , he hasn't been healthy and that team is beat up too … Belichick didn't have a magic formula either , aside from scoring a TD on the first OT drive. That game might still be going on if it were college OT rules ….

The bottom line …. Hell , they won a playoff game with Osweiler at QB then lost to the Pats in their place while Watson's lone playoff game was a home loss.
What do most of us expect this post season ?! "Maybe" a win in the WC game and see ya next year.
Losing that game to Denver really cost them …. going from at worst the 3 to the 4 and a tough matchup with the Bills then the Ravens instead of Steelers and this broken version of the Pats which is the Chiefs road to the AFC championship game.
I don't think any of us expect then to beat the Ravens after the way they got punked last time ...
Since Watson has entered the picture (I know it is a small sample size, just 2 full seasons) we have seen an up tick in how the Texans do against above 500 teams & since the odds are every team you see in the playoffs will be a winning team this is an optimistic stat to me.
Before Watson there was a greater than 70% chance we would lose to a winning team whether it was in the regular season or not.
This is the Texans' record against winning teams under O'Brien.

Watson Full Season
2018: 3-4 .429
2019: 3-2 .600
Now with Watson I feel we at least have a chance against the better teams in the regular season or post season. As long as we don't have a total team collapse like we did against the Broncos.

Reviewing some plays on the All-22. Here's a play where I have NO idea what Zach Cunningham is doing. It the last Titans TD. The TD wasn't important, but what was more concerning was how fast they were able to score.

- Surprised that RAC actually called a blitz here. I like the play call.
- Watch Zach Cunningham, can someone explain to me what he's doing? He's lined up in the B-gap, between the tackle & guard. Initially, it looks like he's going to rush the passer. Both the tackle & guard are occupied, so looks like should be a free run at the QB. Zach had other ideas for some reason? He cuts to the left???
- I was thinking, maybe the RB is his responsibility and he notices he's leaking out but loses him once Lewis is out of the backfield.
- Whit's pass-rush move there is weak. He tries to swipe Lewan's arm away but totally whiffs then is easily pushed to the ground. Every pass rusher is singled-up and no one is winning their battle.
- Roby has to make that tackle. This was the 2nd missed tackle by the corners on this drive.

Personally, I was on the verge of abandoning this forum and was going to return to lurking more than posting. However, this current conversation and analysis reminds me why I joined this board. Good work. Maybe going forward, whoever can find a video or diagram of a good or bad play from the last game, post and we discuss.
I would love and welcome it. It's one of the things that originally attracted me to the forum. So many posters with so much football knowledge and insight. Much respect.
And I think it would attract a lot more like-minded folks over time if we could get away from the pointless drama that seems to infect the rest of the internet. Let this place be a haven for Texans fans, regardless of agreement/disagreement.
Truthfully the Bucs seem to be a pretty good team. If they were in the AFC they would probably be in the playoff hunt. Out of the 7 games they have lost only 2 teams (Giants & Panthers) have a losing season. In fact 4 out of the 7 they lost to are 11-3.
We won 2 road games in a row last year but we had our bye in between them. You have to go back to Dec of 2015 to get two back to back road wins without a bye.
Last week was a big game for us. We took on a hot team in their stadium & took control of our division. We have a past history of coming out flat after big wins. I think the Bucs are good enough to beat us if we don't show up & play our best.
It's a short week & we are playing a 500 team we should beat on paper. It just seems like the perfect recipe where the Texans could have some sort of let down. That's why I say they have to be mentally tough enough to stay focused & do what they have to win.

A couple of weeks ago I thought this was going to be a very difficult game. Probably the most difficult of the last 4 game cakewalk we were all expecting not that long ago. But with their two 1,000 yard studs out, I feel a little better. Tampa could still do well against this poor Texans D, but I still think missing those 2 huge pieces will slow them down some.

A team getting to an AFCCG is more than QB play, although QB play is certainly a big part of it. It is a total team and coaching effort (and a little bit of luck). You can not look at a QB in isolation and not consider the other variables.
I think Watson is a franchise QB, of course it is really too early to make that judgement. I believe he has the talent and intangibles you want in a QB to build a team around. Does he still have areas he needs to improve on? Does he still makes mistakes? Yes, but I have seen progress and I believe he will continue to improve. We are in a much, much better situation at QB than this team has ever been by a long shot. With the right pieces around him, the right coaching, and if the football bounces their way, I believe the Texans can win a championship with Watson. I will even go one step further, I believe that could even happen with O'Brien has head coach. He (O'Brien) is not nearly a bad as many on this board say he is.
