Just pointed out the value of stats to the DVOA geeks.
I won't derail this thread
I really wish the USFL would have survived. Jim Kelley playing in “Mouse” Davis’s run-and-shoot offense was beautiful to watch. Damn, would could have been.Warren Moon is a Hall of Fame player and by far the best QB that has ever played in Houston.
Houston's football teams are nothing but losers, so I guess those stats are for us.
The inherent problem when you continually post the above without context or further explanation is the redundancy of your perspective and lack of value to the on-going discussion.
Perhaps you should place it in your signature so you don't have to keep typing the same thing over and over again?

This is not the time or place. We heard you loud and clear on another thread. There’s no need to derail yet another thread trying to force you own personal agenda.
Well I am glad you get to make the decision on where/when the correct time is to discuss things.
He shouldn't be in the HOF because of Buffalo and probably wouldn't be if not for Pancakes
As Glanville once said Moon can't win the big games.
The problem with Houston football fans is they've never seen great QB play when the highest stakes are on the line. So they have no reference point.
George Blanda was the best QB Houston has.evwr had.
Okay. Since you keep posting this Blanda comment. I'll play.
It's hard to compare eras, so I will ignore completion percentage, but didn't George Blanda lead the league in INTS for four consecutive years with 42, 25, 27 and 30 INTs? In seven season, didn't Blanda only have 3 winning seasons?
Finally, I didn't know being a Houston football fan prevents us from watching other NFL QBs, playoff games or the Super Bowl to have a point of reference on QB greatness.
Different eras
Hof'er, lead this cities team to their only championship.
Blanda's resume speaks for itself.
NVM. Instead of wasting my time talking about an AFL championship in 1961, I'll reminisce over the beauty of my high school's wishbone offense or UH's veer offense and how it's relevant to a discussion on the 2019 Texans' offense. Have a great day.

Exactly
Lol you fell for the obvious baited trap once again.
LOL. I got myself out without assistance from you or @JB. It wasn't a rabbit hole. It was Dwight Shrute trolling.
Yes you did.
Too bad you didn't want to talk about HOF QB's.
The thread wasn’t about HOF quarterbacks. Wrong thread buddy.
Thoughts on the actual article?
Stats are for losers.
Besides the offense is going to be much different with more speed and less Nuk. So in this case stats really don't apply.
The DVOA guys are really laughable. Bet they can't figure out how the Texans have won so many AFC south championship's.
You’re talking about personal stats and team stats. This insert has nothing to do with that. It’s talking about what the Texans like to do on offense. It breaks down in detail their tendencies and where they like to attack/ attempt to attack. I don’t know why you’re all of sudden hung up on this notion about stats being for losers.
Almost every topic of discussion is about statistics in one form or another.Stats are for losers.

Earl34 already brought it up, but yeah, those 42 INTs and 27 TDs in a single season sure were impressive. . .ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING THAT HE WASN'T EVEN PLAYING AGAINST THE BEST DEFENDERS.
Yep. The seemingly reverent worship of Blanda has always amused me as a lifelong Houston pro football fan. It's like some fans can never see past his career.
Champions in a minor league. You wave your pom poms hard for something that happened almost 60 years ago. In a minor league.
Warren Moon was a first ballot Hall of Famer, btw, so your attempt to belittle his career is nothing but baseless drivel. Apparently, every one else with influence in pro football sees what you are unable or refuse to see.
This is not the time or place. We heard you loud and clear on another thread. There’s no need to derail yet another thread trying to force you own personal agenda.
I don't care if Moon was a 1st ballot HOFer, what did he ever win? Not just in Houston either. He did have the GREATEST choke job in NFL history on his 1st ballot resume though, maybe I expect too much from guys I think should be in the HOF. Maybe that's why I like the baseball HOF the most. They have a higher standard for admittance to their HOF. BTW, Bonds/ Clemens/Rose should all be in the HOF.
Speaking of minor leagues I guess those CFL championship's count enough make Moon a 1st ballot HOFer.
As the OP, this thread has been officially declared derailed. Mods or admins, please lock, delete, move, burn or whatever, but at this point, any further post is pointless.

What did Earl Campbell ever win?
What did Dan Marino ever win?
What did Dan Fouts ever win?
What did Barry Sanders ever win?
What did Dick Butkus ever win?
What did Deacon Jones ever win?
How many more names do you need - and there are lots more - to show how utterly sad and extremely selective your personal criteria appears to be for greatness?
What does that make JJ Watt and Andre Johnson to you? Those guys achieved nothing great and will only be in the HoF because of. . .stats.

You need to checkout the stats CnD provided.
150 targets in 333 attempts to Wide Receivers.
Look his stats/highlights up on the Illinois website.
Since this is the official "stats are for losers" thread, here are my contributions. Stats are for losers:
I'm out!
Almost every topic of discussion is about statistics in one form or another.
If you want to talk about how many rings somebody has that is a stat. If you want to talk about how many times a team has won a division title once again that is a stat.
Ninety percent of the draft talk is based on statistics in on form or another.
If we talk about the strength of the upcoming schedule that is based on the statistical record from last year.
In my opinion using and understanding available data is one of the best ways to try and understand what the coming season will bring.

This makes too much sense, that's why you're not getting a response.
Tell me how with a new OC and several new skill position players how last yrs stats/tendencies apply to 2020?
