That's why we are going to have a new OC/some OL.
Then we will get answers to what was wrong with the offense.
It was time for Slowik to go because CJ and Slowik were on different pages. Ryans is to be commended for being proactive in making this move. With this said CJ needs to growup and listen, because Slowik wasn't the only guy in the room that wasn't listening. Hopefully CJ will finally have an OC that he will listen too. Do you think CJ should get to handpick his OC? I do because I dont want to hear the excuses or see the pouting/crying on the sidelines anymore.
You are just determined to throw shade at CJ for questioning/getting after his OC…which by the way isn’t uncommon. We saw Brady getting his head chewed off by BoB before he even came here for the HC gig and we all said “hell yeah, this guy ain’t taking **** from noone!”…no mention of what Brady may have said or done to precipitate that reaction from BoB.
Hell just Last week Mahomes was visually getting after Matt Nagy as he walked off the field b/c he sent in a play too late which led to him having to call a TO that he didn’t want to take.
So I don’t think your narrative of him needing to “grow up”..of course he’s still got some growing to do, but this isn’t something you can point to and say that. This is a matter of
competitiveness. CJ is a competitor. He wants to win. And when u already have a little beef with your OC before you’re even drafted to the team…then u get into games and see this guys’ flaws are hindering you and your teams’ success week in & week out and he’s somewhat tuning you out……..then YOU have to get up there and speak to “your” offenses’ failures after every game and at least once during every week of practice….that stuff gets old.
So…No he shouldn’t get to pick his OC…but like the HC pick, significant consideration should be given to the fact that it needs to be someone that he respects and that will listen to the franchise qb & isn’t hell bent on running “their” scheme but developing one with him. The best OC’s are guys who mold their scheme around their franchise qb..not the other way around & For years I’ve just never understood why coaches in the NFL didnt see it that way. If you know you have a proven talented guy under center, why are you being rigid with your playbook & putting the onus on the player to learn YOUR 400 page playbook instead of learning what he does well and adjusting your playbook & playcalling to him?
If it’s good enough for Reid to do it with Mahomes…
Harbaugh/Monken with LJ8..
Brady with Allen…
Kingsbury and Jayden Daniels
It’s good enough for us here.
Which is yet ANOTHER reason why I don’t want some old dude like Reich, Pederson and McCarthy here. They are from that old school way of thinking.
