Sexual Assault Suits Against Watson

Goodell putting Watson on the CEL helps Watson right?

The Texans need to find some reason to suspend Watson so they don’t have to pay him & don’t have to count this wasted season towards his contract.

right?
As I've posted previously, a team does not suspend a player.........the League does.

This part of Commissioner's Exempt rule could ultimately very much favor the Texans. Watson could be placed on the list...........then suspended, having to pay back "free CEL money" equal to the suspension.............if a long suspension, at the end of the suspension, it would make a trade partner then responsible for the contract thereafter.:

NFL Collective Bargaining Agreement

Article 46
Commissioner Discipline

Section 5
Commissioner Exempt

Players who are placed by the Commissioner on the Exempt list prior to the determination of discipline and any appeal therefrom under the Personal Conduct Policy will be paid while on the Commissioner Exempt list and credited for the regular and post-season games missed against any suspension ultimately imposed. Notwithstanding any other provision in this Agreement, if such a suspension is ultimately imposed, the player must promptly return and shall have no further right to any salary for the games for which he was paid while on the Commissioner Exempt list that were credited to the suspension (i.e., for a number of games no greater than the length of the suspension).

Surprise surprise. He showed up to TC. Only reason he is there is because of :money:. Before all the sh!t hit the fan, he could probably have afforded to sit out and collect on endorsements. Now that most of those are gone, and knowing he's probably going to have to pay some settlements in the future, he miraculously shows up. This guy is a turd. He probably assumes he will be put on the CEL and receive some pay while never having to take a snap. Texans TC is going to be a media sh!t show. If I'm the Texans, he is my starting QB until when and if he is suspended. Make him earn it. Make him face the media. Make him uncomfortable as possible. Just like he did with all of those women.

John McClain says that the one option the team has to keep Watson off the field is to put him on paid leave. They could do this to protect him from being injured and affecting his trade value.

I’m just wondering if you’ll have issue rooting for the turd if he ends up “leading” the team

Honestly, I haven't watched a game since 2019. I still lurk and read and sometimes post here, but after 18 years of supporting this team, devoting Sundays to this team, spending money on this team, my interest is almost non existent at this point. I've started using my Sundays for better things. This teams ownership is worried about one thing, money. Sad to say, but I've been following the Watson saga much more than what the actual Texans are doing. Everything I know about the Texans as of right now I get from reading posts here. I couldn't care less if Watson is the starting quarterback or not. My point is, if he gets paid, he needs to work and earn it until when and if the NFL does something. He's showing up to TC for one reason, money.

So what’s your asking price?
The moon.

I really shouldn’t have re-entered this conversation. Because I believe it’s a moot point. I don’t think the commissioner and majority owners are going to allow a Watson trade until the sexual assault stuff is cleared up.

However...

Watson isn’t a Lemans. He’s still a 1970 GTO Judge in your analogy but with a lost title. Nobody can drive him legally right now. When the current owner either finds the title or has a new one written up...

He’s worth at least 3 first round picks.

What do you think made them uncomfortable? Was it the Perverts bad breath? Or could it be that he asked for sexual services, just like he asked the women who admitted to having consensual sex with? The difference was some agreed to have sex with him and others didn't. You can bet those that didn't agree not only got paid the bare minimum but the Pervert let it be known that he could make or break their careers. This is why I want the Pervert to go to jail for a long time if found guilty. People who use their positions in life to force people to do what they want and when they whatever they want.

I dont just think this way about the Pervert, but people in all walks of life. These type people are usually very selfish people who think they're untouchable.
I agree on bolded but you do not know that and why justice process needs to work out. His behavior on table 'as reported' should make them uncomfortable but we do not know if he coerced or forced them physically to touch them against their will.

Again what you or I or anyone here thinks is not evidence.

This is shocking. Everyone expected for Watson to sit out training camp, and throughout the upcoming season. Houston can’t trade Watson until next offseason—to ensure how much draft capital they would receive in a trade. Watson has his own legal issues going on, and if the league does or doesn’t suspend him needs to be worked out as well. This would be a lost season for both Houston, and Watson, as we fast forward to 2022. Now here we are and Watson is headed to training camp.

Shocking ?
Dunno about that, but atlesat mildly surprising as most did expect a no show by DW4 at TC.
Showing up seems to me to be a Harden instruction "as if nothing wrong" optic. Losing $50k per day is significant also. Ensuring how much draft capital they would receive in a trade wasn't the plan with Hopkins or Watt.

Gonna be a circus if he shows up for camp.

Sit him on the bench, leave him in the locker room.

Let Watson stay in the media room and answer the media questions.

Keep him off the field.

The players now on the team should not be exposed to what will really be a flustercluck.

Focus on football.

You want him in the media room answering media questions?:shades:

Harden don’t give a crap if Watson shows up. Well, he’s not going to suggest one way or the other.

But when Watson sees the bill, he’ll know what time it is.

...Wouldn't it be ironic if he and the Texans settle their differences and move forward together?
What would this entail?

You know the phones are burning up between Houston and New York; and you know the Texans and Watson will be talking between now and Wednesday.

Assuming that there will be no trade approved by the League until all legal issues are resolved, then Watson's options are limited if Goodell does not place him on the exempt list.

Under this circumstance, I could see the Texans and Watson coming to an agreement, where Houston would agree to trade Watson as soon as a trade was allowed and negotiated; and Watson would agree to play.

I think I'm correct in saying that the Texans have never taken a public position except to say that Watson was our QB. And Watson's financial situation is likely precarious considering his ongoing legal fees, at a minimum and not taking into account civil settlements.

As Lucky said, it's going to be Goodell's call. But expect a press conference. Maybe Tuesday.

you don't think Harden wants Watson to act as if not guilty? Not reporting screams DW has something to hide IMO.

I posted DW received over $30 million for 2020.

I do not know if the money listed in the Forbes article are correct but I get that he earned 29 million + from football in 2020 + 8 million off-field money. I know he has lost some endorsements but I do not know if he's getting any money from other sources including the cheese steak corporation that he merged with. If in the end he has to give back some of his signing bonus he should still have enough money to survive no income from any Source in 2021.

He appears to be sitting on his previous earnings and looking at the $119 million of his next four NFL years.

I posted DW received over $30 million for 2020.
That $30M is a result of the signing bonus for his extension. If Goodell does not place Watson on the exempt list, and if Watson holds out, then this signing bonus would be in jeopardy due to fines and penalties.

I think the mere fact that he reported today at the Texans facility shows he has had financial and football related legal advice covering all scenarios.

This was absolutely a forgone conclusion .... If he holds out he gets fined and misses out on game checks.

If he shows up he almost certainly ends up on the CEL & gets paid while avoiding playing for the Texans.
Not showing up would have been absolutely silly.

I kinda want them to put the spotlight right on him .... Make him the starting QB , put him in front of the press and let them fire questions.

To hell with covering for him or hiding ..... Expose him , right out front.

Yep. The national media already covering for him.

I understand your sentiment. But, I don't see how that's best for the organization. I don't see how it's good for the rest of the team to have to deal with the scrutiny.

Understand the sentiment also, but I tend to agree with Lucky.

Our new team will have enough to deal with, without the distraction making its way onto the practice field.

Make him available, out of sight. Maybe the massage room is open.

Most of that scrutiny will be Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Maybe, some, the rest of the week. After that, it's back to football normal, until the start of the season. If Goodell still hasn't taken any action, then there might be some media attention if Watson is the Texans' starter.

If the organization plays it smart, there'll be a press conference early this week to answer questions regarding Watson playing, future trade possibilities and an update on League decisions.

If these are answered, there will be little more for the media to cover except football.

How is anyone going to have the answers to those questions by this week? That's exactly why the Texans need to avoid this kind of media circus.

They found out today Watson was going to show up. They’re waiting for tomorrow to see if he’ll show up again. I doubt they’re in any position to answer any questions right now.

I agree, there won’t be any answers, but these guys need to grow up & learn to deal with difficult situations & scrutiny.

They can not want the circus all they want, but Barnum & Bailey are setting up the tents as we speak.

This will be ironed out today, tomorrow and Tuesday between Goodell, the Texans and Watson. What decisions are made in this time frame is what will be released to the media.

That's good news. That's the kind of scoop that will make Adam Schefter green with envy.
Be sarcastic. It's just plain ridiculous to think these three parties will not be in conference the next few days or that matters will not be resolved sufficiently going into training camp and the season.

Watson has to be suited up and on the field, barring some other agreement, Wednesday or he could be placed on the reserve/did not report list.

My concern at this point is how dissatisfied Watson will be and how will it affect his play.

As per discussion with a friend of mine, if he remains on the team come pad contact............name him starting ILB or DT............let him taste the offense he deserted. :chef:

Was there any doubt the Pervert was going to show up? He's bleeding $$$$.

How should the McNair's handle this? Get on the phone and have God'ell put him on the CEL immediately. This is the price to pay for Cal getting in bed with a Pervert. Then after the criminal/civil cases are done, God'ell will really lay the hammer down.

I think it will take atleast a yr to resolve the cases, so the Pervert will be on the CEL that long. Then Especially if the Perverts convicted but even if he isn't convicted the owners will tell God'ell to suspend the Pervert for a yr due to the Pervert trying to change the way the owners do business. I dont see the Pervert playing again until 2023 at the earliest and that's a best case scenario.

8 million in Off field money is a very significant amount. We've already discussed that he has reported officially so he is not holding out at this point. The 30 million dollars is in his pocket as of now. I don't see how he's bleeding money anywhere.
