I don't think he waz trying to insult you. Just reaffirming his position, which I think he's wrong.
I do wonder why Herm Edwards' opinion finally got you to coming around & seeing the light though. This was predicted the day we drafted Watson. It's a snowball. The Texans will drop praise here & there. Media will start doing the same. Eventually the Texans will be less & less cryptic until they eventually announce Watson will be our starter.
Tomorrow night watch how Watson gets his team in &out of the huddle. Watch his drops. If he's getting the ball out on time, on the third step of a three step drop, the fifth step of a five step drop, or the seventh step of a seven step drop, he'll definitely be starting with the first team week 2.
Even if he doesn't get the ball out on time, watch how decisive he is on progressing to the next phase. Is he waiting for his first read to work open? Is he scanning the entire field? Did he check it down to his safety outlet. Does he feel the pressure but hang in? Does he cut & run? Does he get rid of the ball? If he makes good decisions in those situations I'd still expect the accolades to continue & the snowball to continue gaining mass & momentum.
& cutting & running isn't always a bad decision. Sometimes it's the best decision , sometimes the worse.
Because I quoted a children's book? Far from insulting you. On the other hand, I'm not going to stand by and let anyone take away my ability to put forth my independent opinions/assessments by trying to entirely devalue them.
But he will.uh..please, please don't
Charlie Weis thoughts on Watson and if he should be the starter.
Don't make sense O'Brien couldn't get that guy here.
They call them talking heads for a reason.
All of them including Pat Starr are talking heads.
Exactly. Think about that...
Charlie Weis thoughts on Watson and if he should be the starter.
The big difference is, Coach Herm and Coach Weis coached in the NFL .

Can't play scared. Besides, in preseason game one, the #2 QB will be going up against the Jags' #2 defense. Are you really scared of that unit??uh..please, please don't
I agree. Weis screwed the pooch as a head coach but he was a damn good OC. I said way back we should have gone to Weis to replace Godsey as OC. The dude basically installed the offensive scheme that made Brady who he is. Why not give him a shot to do that here??Don't make sense O'Brien couldn't get that guy here.
And what are the doing now?.. Weis couldn't even cut it at the NCAA level
You watch WAY WAY too much ESPN.
also I'm worried about Wies' health.. Holy crap.

So Charlie says that your veterans' opinion will decide who should be the starting QB right?.. I mean he never came out and said Watson should be the opening day starter (even though the troll of all trolls Skip tried to bait him into it) did he?. Now who did our best vet offensive player vouch for again? (Again, by Charlie's assessment your vets know..who did they pick?).. and that's why Savage is going to be the week 1 starter.
Nobody is if Watson will or will not start for this team eventually..obviously he is at some point, it's the timetable that everyone is arguing over.
P.S.
I wish I could be on that set though, but I would charged with assualt and Skip would be diagnosed with CTE, because I would thump him in the forehead every single damn time he interjected the freaking Cowboys who haven't won crap into a conversation or his history.. guy went cookoo over Jay Cutler, then Vince Young, then Johnny Manziel.. and he somehow brings everything back to the freaking Cowboys. It's laughable
I pray Watson is the answer and that's why that piece of crap needs to stay away from him, his track record sucks, especially at QB. We don't even have close to the offensive line that his wet dream Dak has and he never even mentioned Dak until Dak was Dak. I like Watson and I don't want to set him up for failure..I've already seen that movie.

.
So did Bill Peterson, Chuck Studley and Hugh Campbell...
that don't mean they know squat about the Texans and neither does Edwards
Wait... for clarification are you saying he wins the starting job or just that he'll be starting preseason week 2? Because it wouldn't be a huge leap for the latter to happen or mean anything. I don't think it'll happen in any case but you can make your own bold predection
The big difference is, Coach Herm and Coach Weis coached in the NFL .
So again JB stay in your lane.
But my bold prediction is the same as it's been since draft day. The Texans have already decided Watson will be the starter. They're trying to prepare him to start week 1. I think they believe he's on track.
wth does that mean?
Agreed 100I was thinking they are on TV and their objective is to entertain. Sometimes that means creating controversy when it doesn't exist. Same thing goes for bloggers, tweeters, etc.
Savage has had the better camp and judging by the majority of pro-Watson reporting he's had plenty of ups and downs in practices....and that's with the 2's and 3's. If RS and the Texans pull the string and start Watson anyways, what will they do if his first 5 games go south as he's learning his way? How does the team respond if Savage is forced to stay on the sideline while Watson struggles through his learning curve?
If this happens, my bold prediction; O'Brien takes the fall and he's fired. NYJ swoop in and hire him. O'Brien signs Savage as a FA since the jury is still out on what he can cannot do and the Jets have no immediate answers at the QB position nor anyone else available who knows this offense. The NYJ FO puts their focus on signing Hopkins who also becomes a FA since RS dragged his feet and refuses to pony up the money that it will require to "Tag" him. Jets win the bidding war for his services.
Dang...that would really-really suck!!! I'm wondering if the players on this team are pro-RS or pro-O'Brien, could be interesting if things don't progress the way RS may have envisioned.
Tom Savage is more likely to get hurt than stink it up. If you want him to start Week 1 then he better not play a lot in the preseason. His play isn't necessarily bad but there's no "wow factor" there and I don't see him inspiring a lot of touchdown drives for us. It will just be more of the same red-zone struggles and a lot of field goals. He hasn't thrown a career Touchdown pass in the NFL (preseason doesn't count) and he's entering his fourth NFL season. Think about that for a second. That just goes to show how unhealthy he usually is. People always say the best ability is availability.Watson is not getting many reps with the starters. No way he starts week 1, unless Savage really stinks it up this week. IMO this game vs Carolina will have a huge impact on how the rest of the reps in TC will go.

Agreed about availability vs ability.
The Texans are going to have red-zone troubles until they fix the OL.
Which wont be in the 2018 draft since they traded away their high end picks drafting/getting rid of their QB boo-boos

Spoken like a politician. Yes, Watson will be the week 1 starter. But you give yourself all kinds of wigggle room by not saying which year.... The Texans have already decided Watson will be the starter. They're trying to prepare him to start week 1. I think they believe he's on track.
I disagree, someone like Watson with his quick release and quick ability to make decisions will help our failing red zone offense. And if all else fails, his added bonus of running in will help.
You hope,
Just like I do,
But no offense can be successful with a bad OL.
I agree about his health, but he needs to play because he is far from a sure fire thing at QB. Unless he proves he is vastly better than Watson, then Watson should get the nod to start. You don't trade away the house for a guy who needs time to develop. And if you do, like KC, you better have a sure fire starter on your team. The reality is Savage is far from that. He has to earn the job equally as much as Watson needs to.
Good thing our OL isn't bad, they are just average.

Agreed about trading the house meaning Watson has to play and probably play early, whether he's any good or not. How do you know what is reality when it comes to Savage? Nobody knows how good Savage will be.
This is where we disagree, maybe you saw the right side of the OL play differently than I did last yr and XSF was barely avg. IMHO
Does our OL need to improve? Yes, but they are far from garbage like some on here portray them to be.

We shall see
1st series of preseason is not looking good.
