Save us Savage!!!!!!!

Repost from another thread.

He'll yeh. I would rather give savage some playing time and see what he has and lose than trot out the beard who has zero future here or anywhere for that matter.

There's no reason not to at this point.

If Mallet is done for a while then hell yes give the kid a shot, no better time to see what he has than now IMO.

If there is a reason not to put Savage in there, I sure can't find it. With Mallett out and Fitzpatrick hopeless there's nothing to lose. Unless we play Savage we will not know his potential to learn the NFL in time to prepare for the draft.

o gwad its starting to seem like dem browns around here is this the start of dat qb carousel

Sage
Matt
Linheart
TJ
delomne
TJ
Back to super gimpy matt

Back to Matt

Mallett
Savage
F/A QB
Rookie draft QB

:kitten:

There's an extremely good reason to not put in Savage just yet... coach knows he ain't ready. Savage didn't play a lot of college ball, the big reason he didn't go very high in the draft. The guy is a raw project. There's a lot of damage you can do to a QB's potential by throwing him out there too early. If coach thinks he's ready (or even close), put him in. If he's not, keep his ass on the bench.

After 11 weeks, I'm ready to see Savage given a shot. It isn't like he's being asked to start week 1. Everyone knows what they have in Fitz. The kid couldn't do much worse and he'd be getting game time experience.

After 11 weeks, I'm ready for football season to be over. I hate having a home team that you know is not going to the playoffs by November. :headhurts:

Tsk, tsk! Thou shall never utter such words. lol

I understand what you mean about the home team, but in the end, football is football and I enjoy the heck out of watching it. Heck, I even get into my 10 year old nephew's little league games. HS, College, NFL, little league....I enjoy them all.

I'm sure most of y'all here feel the same way. The home team continuously shitting the bed has us all at wits end

All I know is the QB performance yesterday was one of the most pitiful displays I've seen in a long time. And if he was as injured as reports are saying, he should not have been in there playing, particularly with the season on the line. Fitz was benched after a 2 TD, mid-80's QB rating performance. Mallett had 0 TD's and a 49.2 rating yesterday, and the entire offense accounted for 6 points. And Mallett's so called "great" performance against the Browns was pretty much in line with Fitz's average performance this year. It's apparent that this head coach is lost, both in his decision making and play calling.

I still have the Green Bay/Patriot game to look forward to.

If only the washed up Brady was playing for our team.

I wish we had an old washed up QB like Brady... :kitten:

lol! I hear ya', man. I'll be good by next Sunday. And I live for January, when the NFL is truly at its best with the playoffs.

I just have to get over the wishful thinking that our team could do something magical this season like other franchises sometimes do. Nothing magical happens in Houston football. I know that and let myself get momentarily distracted from history and reality. It was fun last week, but ultimately, it's like eating whipped cream for dinner.

but I can't see it getting much better next season either. They are either going to start a rookie, 2nd year player or Fitzpatrick....

I think I just threw up in my mouth a little bit...

but hey, they could be Cleveland! You know that Cleveland is gonna get their fans hopes up just to crush them in the end.

which is kinda what the Texans do....

x3...

carry the 1...

Holy crap Houston is Cleveland....Muthaf.....

Fitz will probably be starting for the rest of the year, I'm sure you are overjoyed. Make sure and cook him a real good breakfast on Sunday mornings

Hopefully he'll run the offense the way Mallett did.

If not, Savage will be our back up & he'll start getting reps in our system. If Fitz continues to play small ball, maybe Savage can replace him in a few weeks.

I'm sure he'll have a bottle of motion lotion and a box of Kleenex next to him throughout the games

I'm kidding, I'm kidding....hopefully

If Savage isn't ready then I really hope O'Brien doesn't cave to the "see what we have" pressure and throw him out there. Exposing a guy before he's ready can be pretty detrimental to his development so hopefully we only see him if OB thinks he can handle it.

Remember, this is a kid who has only started 15 games in the last 5 years. I don't care about his potential, I care about his development. He's a project and we all knew that going in so hopefully we don't rush it.

We saw... or at least, I think I did... the difference in this offense between an experienced guy who can't make fast/correct reads and run the uptempo and an inexperienced guy who can. I find it hard to imagine Savage being able to run this offense better than Fitzpatrick even though Savage may have better physical abilities.

Savage is supposed to be a smart guy and if he is, he might be ready to take the reins in this offense next season.

But... we still have playoff possibilities at stake, as slim as they might be. Until we are completely out of the playoff hunt, I'd go with Fitzy.

Go with rookie. Why continue with a known dead-end QB who won't be on the team next year? I doubt starting a rookie the last few games of the season will irreparably harm him - if it does, then we don't need him anyway.

either way season is over

O brein will prob be forced 2 go back to fitz or mayybbbeee Mcnair and Rick will actually see logic and force him 2 go with Savage

either wayyy season is over

Start Savage. Let him get some real game time experience. At this point I don't care if we lose the last 5 games as long as we are grooming our potential quarterback for next season. Fitzpactrick should be the backup. Won't happen though, I know Obrien wants to win the next 5 games and finish with a record of 10-6.

What is beyond ridiculous is that there are games this team could have won had the team (NOT FITZPATRICK) not imploded - see PITT/INDY. I'm shocked at how many people are missing the obvious.

I'm in favour of seeing what Savage has got.

I believe OB will go back to Pickspatrick though.

OB was pretty non-committal on who will be starting next week. You'd think he'd go ahead & say Fitz would be the man... then again he's also saying they're still evaluating Mallett.

If we only carried two QBs.... say Mallett goes on IR, Fitz starts, Savage becomes the back up, who plays QB for the scout team? Posey, like they did for Washington, or do you think we'd sign an UDFA QB for the duty?

We just signed Thaddeus Lewis, former Bills QB.

Edit: Markn and I with the photo finish.

Changes ahead for Tom...

He'll be preparing for games like the starter, now,

Running our offense some instead of purely scout team.

One play away from live NFL action. His heart rate is up.

With the signing of Thadeus Lewis, I was thinking the same thing, but I'd have expected them to sign him to the practice squad. Nothing I've seen yet says "practice squad."

Maybe they're signing him to be the back up & Savage will stay on the scout team.

For some, there is a fine line between sarcasm and stupidity...and sarcasm is clearly detectable through a computer screen...sorry I missed your stroke of brilliance there...

I never said it was brilliant sarcasm.

You're the one knee-jerking replies without reading the entire thread. If you had bothered, you would have seen a post just a few later where I clearly revealed that it was a statement born of disappointment.

Everyone else got it. So why did you have to asshat yourself?

See, you're problem is that you enter a conversation among friends that know each other and act like you belong at the table. You blast someone as "pathetic" without taking the time to really comprehend. That says more about your personality than anything else.

So yeah, that fine line of stupidity...you might want to see where it's at so you stop crossing it. I mean, you are the Fitzpatrick fan here.

Right on both counts. I also think he'll go with "Fitz things up". It's called infinite stupidity.
