Collins legit. But he wouldn’t start in SF’s front four. I think we’re rolling the dice with Rankins. Could be wrong. His best days are probably behind him.

if they were who you think they were, wouldn’t be necessary to carry 5 DTs.

Again, jmo
Ridgeway started in SF’s front four, why wouldn’t Collins?

Rankins has played solid as a starter for the Jets. Why do you think his best days are behind him?

I would carry Collins/Rankins/Ridgeway/Hinisch/Stallworth or Lopez. Cant ever have to much DL help. Can keep them fresh next yr.

A healthy Collins can start on 90% of NFL teams.

Updated roster prediction:

Valladay is out at RB. Adding Tomlinson at TE. I think Tomlinson brings value as a 6th OL type blocking TE in short yardage situations and think that’s a greater value than another RB unless they can contribute on ST with Pierce and Singletary offense only. We know Ogunbowale is good on ST so I have him as the favorite.

This lineup on offense will be good for a run-focused team. Pierce and Singletary can get 35-40 touches between each other per game with this cast of FBs/TEs supporting.

On defense, Hinish is out at DT. Adding Winovich. Think they’ll prefer an extra DE instead of DT. More versatility for ST and pass rush.

Also, Sheffield is out and Shaq Griffin is in to round out the CB unit.

There will be some tough battles, especially at LB with all the new additions. I debated removing Cashman for Carter or Hewitt but I believe Cashman’s superior speed will be more of an asset on ST.

Also, I currently have Heck as the favorite to be the swing OT but Greg Little if he plays to his potential could take that job.

This is an AFC South contending roster! New additions in bold:

25) Offense

(3) QB: Stroud, Mills, Keenum

(4) RB: Pierce, Singletary, Ogunbowale, Hairston

(6) WR: Woods, Collins, Metchie, Brown, Dell, Hutchinson

(4) TE: Schultz, Quitoriano, Beck, Tomlinson

(3) OT: Tunsil, Howard, Heck

(3) OG: Green, Mason, Patterson

(2) OC: Scruggs, Deiter

(25) Defense:

(5) DE: Anderson, Greenard, Hughes, Horton, Winovich

(4) DT: Collins, Rankins, Ridgeway, Lopez

(3) OLB: Harris, Littleton, Cashman

(3) MLB: Perryman, Kirksey, To’o To’o

(5) CB: Stingley, Nelson, Thomas, King, Griffin

(3) SS: Ward, Stewart, Hill

(2) FS: Pitre, Murray

(3) Specialists:

(1) K: Fairbairn

(1) P: Johnston

(1) LS: Weeks

Boone beats out O.

Little gets a spot and Kirksey is gone.

Great job.

TBH, I prefer the 3rd string RB to be a young player with upside (the rookie Xazavian Valladay). Also, I believe he has some returner experience in college which would add value to special teams.

Regarding Little and Kirksey, both should be on the first thing smoking out of Hobby or Bush.
Practice squad Valladay if you don't think he's going to beat out Pierce or Singletary.

So Deculus, Morrisey, Little, Deatherage and Q are gone? Asking because Oline isn't my space. Wonder if any would get snatched up and contribute elsewhere, or are we still not good enough to have castoffs that people want?

I’d try to get at least three OL on the PS. But I can see Little getting picked up on waivers if they cut him in camp by a team hit by injuries.

Once the waiver period starts each year through the trading deadline, a vested veteran — a player who has acquired four years of pension credit — is not subject to the waiver system if the club decides to release him. That means if a team decides to release a vested veteran, the league considers his contract to be terminated immediately and he is free to negotiate and sign with any other club.
