Normal Behavior from an Executive VP?

From the article posted above:

As I said, Easterby is alleged to have sent texts like an abusive lover to this agent’s client but after he got no response (from an alpha-male- professional athlete- millionaire in his 20’s) Easterby took the time out of his day to then text the player's mother to let her know how concerned he was with the player's life choices. Seriously.
Who could be the player and his mother? Hmm.

Easterby belongs on a college team. Truly. Some of those youngsters really do need babysitting. There's some in the NFL that do as well but once these young men get paid and have leverage, you're going to end up pissing off one young man for every one that you help if you're up in their business. Won't be surprised if more stories start to leak soon.

So now we are going by things posted on the Colts website. Ok. Also who the hell is Chris Shepard?
Who is "going by" anything? I'm not but that doesn't mean its not true but it may not be, who knows? I guess this is what you get when you're JE huh? Wouldnt surprise me one bit if it was true.

None of it may be true, all of it, or some. Can you at least acknowledge that something isn’t setting well with regards to the Pastor?

Everyone around the nation just decided to take out hit pieces on the Texans VP of Football Operations, and no one elses?

Whether any of it is true or not, I just know there’s an extremely lot of focus on Jack Easterby for some reason, by the media (both local and national), players, ex-players, employees, ex-employees, etc. And very little of that focus is positive.

That’s an awful lot of smoke for there not to be a fire.

Agreed we don’t know and it all could be true. My issue isn’t about Easterby himself, could care less about him, it’s that all this started after the HR person was fired and the media threw a fit and for people around here Easterby is just the latest source of all the Texans problems.

I just don’t get why so many believe the Texans are a giant games of thrones with all these plotting and back stabbing and master plans that would make a comic book villain proud.

We are so quick to believe the worst about the Texans we don’t stop to ask if it even makes sense what is being said.

The odd thing is media is saying negative and players and coaches are saying positive things about him. So, what is the truth? And why is his background so murky if he is a good guy?

What does Easterby supposed to know about football? What sets him up as being as being a better person than others and being able to judge them?

I couldn't care less about him either, other than what's gone on with this franchise since he's been here. I don't give a rat's ass about Palcic or the media's reaction, other than it being just another flag to go with everything else that is happening. All Pro players getting shipped out, piss poor return for those players, stupid contracts given to players that aren't coming close to living up to them. Those are the things I care about.

How does a guy like Culley even get on the radar? I mean, I said before that looking outside the box is one thing, but they just don't seem to be very good at going outside the box. How's that flatter organization thing working out? Of course, to be fair, they aren't very good staying inside the box either, so what are you gonna do?

I don't know what "culture" it is they're looking for, but right now that culture is more chaotic than it's ever been. And it seems to coincide with a certain character coach coming on board and quickly moving up the ladder, despite having virtually no experience in anything he seems to be in charge of. That's my issues with him.

I don't have an agenda against him. I don't do agendas. I'm not that shallow. I just react to what it is I see, and form an opinion based on that. If Easterby calms this **** down, calms Watson down, and he goes on to have a HOF career leading us to a couple of Lombardi's, that opinion gets reformulated to loving me some Easterby. But until I see something positive coming out of any of this, dude's on my **** list, whether any of the media barrage against him, SI articles and what have you, are true or not. All I know is **** hasn't been good since he arrived. Andre Johnson was on the money with that comment.

texanhead08

All Pro
Texans have been doing stupid stuff since 2002 and the national media didn't give two shits about it, but Easterbunny shows up and now we are front page news. The quote in the SI article about 90% of people in the building not trusting the guy just shows what kind of toxic work atmosphere they have on Kirby now. It also looks like the PR person that fired was covering up a lot of **** that they have no one to spin it now and the media is having a field down dragging the team, front office, and ownership through the mud behind every poor decision they make.

I get it and overall I agree with you. Here’s the part I’m not understanding though. Before all the things you mentioned were on OB and it was his stupid ideas. Then OB gets fired and now all those things were Easterby. So does that mean OB gets a pass now? Even working under the idea that both were involved in it why did OB get fired and Easterby didn’t? Reading these forums OB was suppose to be this mastermind removing people that were a roadblock to his power till finally he gain ultimate power. Then what Easterby out smarted him?

That’s why I find this whole thing stupid because it’s like it was written by a comic book writer. The evil villain mastermind that was betrayed by an even greater villain? This isn’t Lex Luther Vs. the Joker. We seem to forget that these are real people that we are villainizing here.

As far as Watson goes nothing anybody does seems to make him happy. All the things he’s apparently unhappy about were already there when he signed the new contract. Honestly I think someone has got into his head that he can pull a Harden type deal and get paid and get sent to a championship team at the same time. I don’t know maybe he can, Texans have done dumber things, but if Texans play hardball, and Caserio learned from the best, it could end very badly for him.

As far as Culley goes none of the HC candidates were on anybodies radar except EB and he seems to keep getting past up by a lot of teams despite apparently being the sure thing. Call me naive, a homer or whatever else I just would rather give the new GM and new HC a chance before deciding that hey suck.

OB was in the typical position you make all those moves. He was the one in front of the mics answering questions about the dumb **** he did. And he also attached Easterby’s name to everything he did while they were together.

OB wanting Nuk out a year prior is one thing, if true. Easterby coming in and it getting done is another. Especially for the return they got back. Of course none of us knew what an Easterby was at the time, so naturally that all gets thrown on OB, the one in front of the mic answering questions, and the one in that typical position to make a move like that.

With OB not there to take on all of that anymore, and with all the stupid still going on, you’ve got to wonder where it’s still coming from. You can look to Cal, of course, because he’s the owner and something like Nuk getting traded doesn’t get done without him signing off on it no matter who wanted it done. But then there’s that Easterby dude still in the shadows (I’ve never heard him speak) quietly moving up in the organization. Right, that’s the name OB kept attaching to everything he did.

So yeah, OB had his issues well before the Pastor got here, and who knows, maybe both used each other to get more power, OB to GM, Jack to VP of whatever, before one of them got stabbed in the back by the other.

So ****, maybe OB is SI’s source, who knows? But if you look at the timeline of it all, things really didn’t start turning into a bona fide shitshow until Easterby came on board. He’s just always been behind the curtain. Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.

Osteensterby is a charlatan that weaponizes and exploits religion and character to eliminate anyone that is not like minded or submissive to his way of thinking. Lucky for Osteensterby he only needed to convince one person, one really important yet gullible and foolish person that Osteensterby is the man to establish the right culture. I think JO is full of sh** and inept but as long as he sidles up to McNumbuts, he is pretty much Teflon.

The Texans have yet to demonstrate a consistent ability to locate "the box" much less any awareness of what's in or outside of it. They're like some kind of weird NFL take on "Schrodinger's Cat" always searching forever for a winning formula that may or may not exist but never actually reaching a point where whatever strange combination of moves they are making can be objectively judged. The right track may or may not exist and they may or may not be on it. No one knows until they "get a franchise QB" or "an experienced HC" or "a real LT" or a "an OL coach" or "a real GM" and so on. At no point does the experiment ever reach a state anyone could call "finished". It's always in flux.

When Bob McNair learns how to run a franchise..... When Gary Kubiak gets more experience as a HC..... When Bill O'Brien gets more experience as a HC.... When Bill O'Brien finds a good OC..... a QB.... a brain.... When Cal McNair learns how to run a franchise... It never ends.

I just came back around to see what the reaction was like to all this because I really thought Watson was the one thing that could be counted on but then the last 24-48 hours have been so weird and so "Texans like" that curiosity got the better of me. Easterby comes across like a creepy "bad touch" Youth Pastor to me. I wouldn't want him anywhere near anything I was trying to make work. To me it looks like the Life Guards got that mean fat kid who was making everyone miserable out of the pool finally but Easterby is the "Baby Ruth" he left behind.

If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's a duck. I agree with Andre Johnson that nothing good has happened in this organization since Easterby has been here.
Jack Easterby = Dr. Eugene Landy (if you don't know, google him)
Cal McNair = Brian Wilson.
I’ll go one further, nothing good has happened since Cal took over. I think Easterby may have emboldened him, but we’re continuing to do what the Texans have always done. Nothing that had happened since Easterby got here is new. More frequent, yes. But this is & has been the Texans way.

I believe it was Watson who said this can’t be fixed unless Cal can fire himself. From his own mouth he’s telling us it’s Cal.

SI & the media keeps on Easterby. But he’s just the horseman, the hatchet man. Cal’s the head gangster in charge here.

Failure is not an option
What I don't get: Cal inherited the team from his dad. Yeah he may not know what to do all the time or how to handle certain situations. Why the HELL wouldn't you talk to another owner, and seek recommendations for a real, experienced, executive VP who can help, not cleanse, your franchise and family reputation?

I continue to be dumbfounded by the mere presence of Easterby. Someone posted this somewhere: "if easterby was fire today, which NFL franchise would put him into an Executive VP position tomorrow?"...NONE

What “stupid” has gone on between Hopkins trade & Caserio hire? The bad snap by Martin? The Fumble by QT?

Hi...visitor from Jetnation.com. Obviously this whole situation is heavily debated on our boards but I'm not looking to get into any negativity on that since we are both looking for big turnarounds from our teams.

I wanted to share one quick thought here with you that might be worth a moment. Looking at the picture of Easterby, I could swear he reminded me of someone and it took me a few days to sort it out. But when I did, it pretty much explained everything you are experiencing (and I do feel for you because this sounds too much like a Rasputin situation for any fan to be okay with).

Anyway, here it is. Apologies if this has already been discovered down your way.

When acne forms on the butt, it's because of folliculitis. Folliculitis is usually caused when the Staphylococcus aureus, or staph bacteria, infects a hair follicle. Normally staph bacteria live on your skin without causing problems, but when they get inside through a break in the skin, it results in infection.
The above quote is from a Google answer to the question "cause of pimples on butt".

Easterby is just a pimple. He's not the root cause, tho'.

The root cause - the folliculitis - is the McNairs themselves. Easterby is just a symptom, an agent of their misguided ownership, a pimple resulting from their staph infection.

At the end of the day, the common thread from Bob McNair to Cal/Janice/Jack is trying to run football operations through their morality filter.

They only care about winning as it relates to financial rewards, but outward appearance of their organization and internal moral litmus tests are clearly far more important than actually assembling a championship worthy team. They hire a guy like Easterby with this in mind, to implement their little delusion because they are ultimately wimps.

This city deserves better than these self-righteous fools, but deserves got nothing to do with it.

This morality thing was in place when papa Bob was alive. We all knew it because of the players they wouldn’t touch, Schaubs Texans worthy comment and on and on and on. Looking back it’s shocking they got as far as they did running a team that way. Now its as if Cal and Janice are actually ramping it up and they intentionally brought JE in to run it that way which eventually leads to bringing in NC and then of course the god-fearing motivational speaking Cully. What a f@cking mess

I don't see how you came to this conclusion.

Cully doesn't strike me as anymore a bible thumper than Kubiak.
Thumping and fearing are not the same. Thumping to me is proselytizing.
Yes Kubiak and Cully very similar in that respect which is fine but it aligns with JE.
As for ramping it up, I don’t ever recall moral, culture, even religion being this talked about when Bob was alive but maybe I missed it along the way.

To @powda point. The fact that these things are even being discussed is ridiculous but I suppose we should find some humor in it when we can. It's depressing enough so why not.....

Not true, if so he wouldn’t have fired Johnson and kept Garrett for 10 years. Jones wants at all costs EXCEPT his ego, he is not willing to trade him getting the credit for another championship.

See this is what team fandoms forget. The grass is very rarely greener and all owners hold their team back at some point. Even the vaulted Patriots are now feeling the sting of Kraft picking Brady over BB.
