Back to my point. Besides the Patriots, name another team that won the Super Bowl recently with 1 person in charge. You're acting like this "1 person in charge" structure is the only way to win in the NFL.
I don't understand this need for a 1 person in charge or King of NRG structure. What's wrong with:
- Lovie knows better than anyone the type of players who fits his defense. He communicates that skillset to Caserio
- Caserio drafts those players that fits the systems his HC/DC and OC are running or BPA
- Lovie hires his own coaching staff. We don't need a HC in waiting or all the dysfunction, politics and backstabbing that occurs with someone Lovie didn't hire or approve.
- Lovie decides when and if those players will start and he handles the game day roster
- Lovie does not dictate signing players, he might state his case for a particular player, but Caserio makes the final/personnel decisions
So, it's a collaborative partnership between the GM and HC. To my knowledge, that is the way most NFL teams operate and not this 1 person in charge structure.
