NFL Random Thought of the Day

I would like to see a rule that stops the take away game and the fists attenping to dislodge the ball on runners. A true fumble is what it is however the jerking and pulling on the ball is playground stuff. .A runner has to be punched more often that facemasked and it is a free for all by defenders.

I don't see a problem with pulling on the ball, but I don't see how punching is allowed. Some of those punches are wildly off target.

A TV camera caught the end of a heated exchange between LaFleur and Fahad Yousif, a Lions fan from Farmington Hills, Michigan, who was part of the group holding a giant flag for the national anthem last Thursday night.

LaFleur could be seen yelling at the fan but said his actions were provoked.

"I've never been a part of something like that," LaFleur said after Sunday's 34-31 loss to the Lions. "He was talking junk to our players, giving them the throat-slash sign. You're trying to de-escalate it, and then he gets in my face. I thought it was pretty unsportsmanlike.

Didn’t another player refuse to enter a game recently because they were unhappy with their role? Diontae Johnson I think?

Campbell was a starter until Dre Greenlaw came back. Played full starter snaps last Sunday but refused to enter a close division game with playoff implications after Greenlaw got hurt.

The entitled pro athletes of today. First it’s the training camp holdouts that sometimes even trickle in-season (Duane Brown comes to mind). Now if players aren’t happy they just wont uphold their contractual obligation to actually play the game?! I anticipate Campbell will be cut today. Hope the Texans do NOT pick him up!

By figuring something out, that would be on the street if it were me.

The petty side of me would look for a way to recoup lost pay via suspension for conduct detrimental to the team and/or put him on the reserve/retired list since he doesn’t want to play football anymore. Rather than outright cut him don’t give him an opportunity to leave while under contract for another team.

Who signs a 31 year old LB who quit and not a single teammate has his back?

Dude effectively quit his job. I don’t think he is entitled to anything. Plus who would sign him after that?
Not surprising
As of Friday morning, the Niners have not yet determined exactly how they will part ways with Campbell, but Shanahan said he did not expect Campbell to be on the team in Week 16 and beyond.

"We're working through the semantics of exactly how to deal with it," Shanahan said. "But I mean you guys heard from me last night, you guys heard from our players, his actions from the game, it's not something you can do to your team or your teammates and still get to be a part of our team. We're working through exactly the semantics of it right now, but we'll handle the situation appropriately."

He knew he was signed to be a placeholder until Dre Greenlaw would be healthy again and then he'd revert to a backup, now he's butthurt? 49ers should suspend his a$$

Moss said a cancerous mass was found in his bile duct, between his pancreas and liver. He said he had surgery to put a stent in his liver on Thanksgiving and then underwent a 6-hour procedure about a week ago to remove the cancer. He said he was hospitalized for six days and released on Friday.

The surgery was a Whipple procedure, Moss said. The operation involves removing the head of the pancreas, part of the small intestine, the gallbladder and the bile duct, according to the Mayo Clinic.

Quick sign OBJ before Sunday! :handshake:
He wouldn't help us much but he wouldn't hurt us any either. It would be cool if he was able to muster up his vintage self but he hasn't discovered anywhere near the receiver for a long time now. He could be like Toby Keith and not as good as he once was but as good once as he ever was. I would love it if that once was all our games during the home stretch of our season and during the playoffs! Several teams trash can be one teams treasure.

Las Vegas Raiders star Maxx Crosby needs season-ending arthroscopic ankle surgery, he said as part of an Instagram post Saturday.

Crosby initially hurt the ankle in Week 2 in Baltimore, later missing just one game. He said he aggravated it "even worse" last weekend against Tampa Bay, leading to the need for surgery.

What BS! The No Fun League strikes again! And totally misses the big one
Cincinnati had two other fines in the contest. Linebacker Germaine Pratt was docked $16,883 for a hip-drop tackle. Safety Geno Stone was fined $22,511 for unnecessary use of the helmet. Both actions were committed against Cowboys running back Rico Dowdle. Neither was penalized during the game.

Safety Donovan Wilson was the only Cowboys player fined for actions in the game. He owes $16,883 for a hip-drop tackle against Bengals tight end Tanner Hudson.

No fine was given for grabbing the face mask of Cincinnati quarterback Joe Burrow, a play that also wasn't penalized.

A Whipple procedure is a tough procedure to perform and even tougher for a patient. In my career, I performed ~10 of these surgeries. Survival has not changed much in the last several decades....................an average of ~20% 5-year survival.

Prayers will be needed for Moss.

My father was diagnosed January 2015 with pancreatic cancer and he had the Whipple procedure. They thought they got it all but eventually it came back in his lymph nodes March 2016 and by that July (25th) he was gone.

Sorry to hear about your dad. Whipples as I posted are very tough on the patient with very limited success in stopping progression.
Thanks CND. Fortunately he was well off enough to stay at home with hospice so he felt no real pain the last couple weeks. His mother, at 66, died of pancreatic cancer also.

My doctor has told me it’s not genetic however I just started having symptoms of EPI, sure enough that’s what I have so I’m on Creon now and I’ve stopped all alcohol for good. Fingers crossed.
