NFL Random Thought of the Day

I think we're looking at an entire regime change in Jacksonville. But I don't see the owner going for the top candidates. Brian Flores (MIN DC), Joe Brady (BUF OC), and the Packers coordinators Jeff Hafley (DC) and Adam Stenavich (OC) would be good gets. Lions assistant GM Ray Agnew could be a candidate for the Jags GM gig.

I hope not. I have they give everyone there one more year…That’s what best for the Texans…err…Jacksonville. I meant Jacksonville.

A bettor in Kentucky is backing the Philadelphia Eagles to defeat the Carolina Panthers on Sunday with a $3.1 million wager, one of the largest bets ever reported on an NFL regular-season game.

Circa Sports took the wager on the Eagles money line Thursday afternoon at -700 odds, which would net approximately $442,800. In response, the sportsbook moved its line on Philadelphia to -870 and lengthened Carolina to +650 as of Friday morning. Other sportsbooks have Philly as long as -675, with the Birds giving around 13 points to the Panthers on the spread marketwide.

Titans WR Treylon Burks suffered a knee injury in week 7 practice and was ruled out of Week 7. He was later placed on IR, with a to-be-determined recovery timeline. On Wednesday, the Titans confirmed that Burks underwent ACL surgery on his knee and won't return this season....................ACL #30.

Maybe the Titans should spend less on their stolen Oiler unis and more on their practice fields? Or not.

George Pickens fined $20,462 for two unsportsmanlike conduct penalties

The NFL has fined Steelers wide receiver George Pickens a total of $20,462 for twice getting flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct on Sunday against the Bengals.

In the first quarter, Pickens was called for taunting. That got him a $10,231 fine.
In the third quarter, Pickens was called for making a violent gesture. That got him another $10,231 fine.

Pickens is a talented receiver whose penaltiess have been costly for the Steelers at times. In this case his actions were costly for himself as well.

Trevor Lawrence will now need surgery on his A-C joint.
Before the Texans game took place he was already telling local reporters he most likely would need offseason shoulder surgery.. For some odd reason his team still had him active despite being 2-9. Player safety my ass. He shouldn't of even been playing vs Houston. I visit the Jag board a lot. Fans wanted the team to shut him down and get the repair. They accepted the season ended weeks ago and just want the house cleaning to begin. I guess Doug was trying to save himself or save face for his next job.

The Atlanta Falcons plan to stick with Kirk Cousins as their starting quarterback despite his struggles over the team's three-game losing streak, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Cousins has accounted for zero touchdown throws and six interceptions over this stretch. But Atlanta is sticking with their original plan at quarterback and have not considered the idea of switching in rookie Michael Penix.

NFL fines Tyrique Stevenson but not Jameson Williams for their run-in on Thanksgiving
By Michael David Smith
Published December 8, 2024 04:19 AM

On Thanksgiving, Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams got a 15-yard penalty for throwing the ball in Bears defensive back Tyrique Stevenson’s face on the sideline. But after the NFL’s disciplinary office looked at the play closely, it was Stevenson, not Williams, who was fined.

Stevenson got a $19,697 fine, while Williams got no fine.

Why fine the player who took the football to the face, and not the player who threw it? Because a close look at the video shows that after Williams was pushed out of bounds, Stevenson, who was standing on the Bears’ sideline, stuck his foot out to trip Williams. Neither the officials nor the CBS broadcast noticed it at the time, but Stevenson’s action precipitated Williams’ reaction.

Stevenson is actually lucky he didn’t get a steeper fine; tripping a player out of bounds isn’t just unsportsmanlike but could also cause an injury. The league’s disciplinary office recognized that Stevenson, not Williams, was in the wrong.

We need to let Diggs move on and add another young prospect to throw in the mix. At this stage in his career Diggs is a possession receiver. When it goes.. it goes.
This isn't the year to be drafting a WR. Maybe if guys like Evan Stewart or Tez Johnson fell to the 2nd or 3rd rd. I like Golden as much as I like those guys. Silas Bolden is also a play maker.

If you're looking for a 3rd-5th rd big fast guy like Nico then you might want to take a flier on Micheal Sturdivant from UCLA. He's really raw though.

Where does this season rank among the biggest disappointments in franchise history?

Jets: The Jets' history is pocked with disappointment, but this season is the biggest bust of them all. They got what they wanted -- a healthy Aaron Rodgers -- and yet they probably will win fewer games than they did last season (7-10) with Zach Wilson.
It has been long, slow and painful, with weekly reminders of dysfunction and a flawed roster. The Rodgers gambit will be remembered as perhaps the worst move in franchise history. -- Cimini

What's the common thread to the sustained losing?

Jets: From a macro perspective, the common denominator is owner Woody Johnson.
For the Giants, it's their inability to fix the offensive line. It's almost amazing to consider they haven't been able to get it right by accident at some point over the past 13 seasons. It has been multiple regimes and high draft picks that have flopped.

Cowboys LB DeMarvion Overshown suffered a torn ACL, MCL, and PCL during their game against the Bengals. An ACL, PCL and MCL is essentially a knee dislocation and is commonly associated with articular damage, and not uncommonly with meniscus damage. He'll be fortunate to come back for any of the 2025 season.............and depending on the extent of any associated damage, he will be very fortunate to come back at all....................ACL #33.
