Head coach Jerod Mayo announced Wednesday that Andrews will underdog shoulder surgery and likely miss the rest of the season, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.Patriots C David Andrews needs season-ending shoulder surgery and is trying to decide if he can play through the injury. He suffered a dislocation and has ligament and labral damage. At his position, he would do well to have the surgery sooner rather than later.
Still no word on Rashee Rice. Surprised that he hasn't been placed on IR yet.

Update on Brandin Cooks. He actually had 2 procedures on his right knee. He had a procedure in New York following last week's Cowboys-Giants game. After he developed symptoms upon his return to Dallas, he had surgery to clean out the infection in his knee. That was performed by Cowboys team doctors over the weekend. I have not been able to determine if the infection was superficial or in the joint................but since the secondary procedure was a "clean out," I would have to conclude that it was deep involving the joint. If so, such an infections If he is out for more than a week, I would have to say that it was evidence of deep joint involvement.............and he will likely be out for quite a while. I would hope that the latter is not the case, because even after well-healed it could leave his knee compromised long-term.
Will put in a prayer for this infection to be controllable sooner than later.
The abdominal obliques have attachments to the hips and can cause hip pain............explaining how the injury was initially mistaken for a hip injury.
Here's another case of a player allowed to return to play in a game while injured and extending the injury.
"Considered day-to-day"????????? Even with injections, this is at least 3-4 week rest/rehab..................unless you're looking for a recurrent injury. And in a QB this core injury would certainly adversely affect his mechanics.

Report: Anthony Richardson day to day with abdominal, oblique injuries
By Charean Williams
Published September 30, 2024 06:00 PM
Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson left Sunday’s game with what the team called a right hip injury. Coach Steve Steichen said Monday he did not think it was a “huge, huge injury” for Richardson.
Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that Richardson has oblique and abdominal strains and is considered day to day.
Richardson is not ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Jaguars.
He played only 14 snaps against the Steelers, initially injuring himself on a 14-yard run before returning for two plays and then leaving for good.
Richardson now has missed significant portions of three of the eight career games he has started.
He has completed only 50.6 percent of his passes for 654 yards with three touchdowns and a league-high six interceptions this season. Richardson also has run for 141 yards and a touchdown.
Unhappy with your role? “Hold in” during training camp. Don’t skip work during the season! Especially if you aren’t a WR1.
