NFL Random Thought of the Day

Too many young NFL players seem to be diagnosed with "unexplained" blood clots.
I agree and am very concerned. Several of my friends take anticoagulant medication and seemingly do not understand the risk and danger of blood clots. I am also concerned that there is too much prescribing and not significant amount of medication education.
I am astounded at how many people take medication and cannot tell you what it is for or side effects. "Well the doctor told me to take them" is what I get when I ask.
One friend last Friday informed me that he had taken medication incorrectly simply because the new medication looked like a medication he had taken last year. Two entirely different medication strength level and frequency. I said, :for an engineer with two degrees, you sure are stupid!"

I can’t remember but were athletes made to get vaccinated?

Was it AstraZeneca or J&J vaccine that could cause blood clots? Or was it just the Covid-19 illness that caused blood clots?

I seem to remember reading something somewhere about it.
I was going to respond to your post but expected political opinions to follow and then this thread would be closed.

I am hearing that the deal offered was just under 55 million a year. Also a contract was offered to Lamb. No details on CeeDees' contract.

Anything over 25M per season is too much for Dak’s services. Dak has proven one thing in his NFL career….drives well for show, but puts for shite for dough.

It would still be a sad state of affairs for NFL owners when QB’s get 25M+ on what should be prove-it deals after their rookie contracts….especially when they’ve supplied him with the offensive weapons and defenses they have to date.

The best place to improve your health outcomes is through the farmacy…not the pharmacy! I am 60, take zero medications, have never spent a night in a hospital, and don’t trust most family doctors cause all they know is what is in their prescription book. They enrich big pharma at the expense of their patients. There are so many people that can fix themselves if they had the education and motivation to do it. I go when I need to, and I know my Cholesterol is high, but I take supplements for that, eat healthy veggie focused meals, eat lots of fiber including a lot of raw veggies and fruits, and get a fair amount of exercise and keep on trucking. I feel like a million bucks and can outlast and outwork most 50 year olds and quite a few 40 year olds.

I agree Porky but there's one huge problem in that it's easier for most people to pop a pill and continue with their lifestyle. It's amazing how many people I see on almost a daily basis that complain about being depressed and yet will down a six pack of beer a day. Most of those also complain that they don't have enough money.

I was wondering if anyone would make this association. J&J was the first to admit the association back in 2021.................in March of this year in court, AstraZeneca finally admitted that their vaccine was known to cause this condition by triggering an autoimmune reaction. Classically, this would occur anywhere from 4 to 40 days following the vaccinations. These vaccines have been removed from the US market.

The MRNA vaccines (Moderna and Pfizer) emboli) have now also been reported to cause blood clots by the same above mechanism. But another more concerning mechanism is they cause inflammation of the heart (myocarditis) which commonly can cause formation of blood clots in the heart that then travel to the lungs (pulmonary emboli). This phenomenon has been occurring most commonly in otherwise healthy young males.

It’s very strange to see how many more people are being diagnosed with blood clots and also with heart failure(?). I don’t know what the medical term is but essentially have heart complications at a practice or game. All of this after the Covid pandemic.

Just very strange.

Anything like this is of concern for a QB trying to come back from a fractured glenoid. His rehab has not tested repeated game trauma.

Deshaun Watson ended practice before the other three quarterbacks on the fourth day of training camp, but Mary Kay Cabot of cleveland.com reports that it was nothing of concern.

Watson is coming off November surgery to repair the fractured right shoulder socket.

Per Cabot, Watson took a shotgun snap into the end zone for a pass across the field into a net at the 25-yard line, and he bounced it in front of the net. He took off his helmet and pads and rotated his arm slightly before calling it a day.

Consistent with what historically has been the case of most WRs post ACL.

In his first two NFL seasons, wide receiver Jameson Williams has shown flashes of the talent that made the Lions trade up in the draft to get him. But Williams’ overall production — 25 catches for 395 yards and three touchdowns — is nowhere near what is expected of a 12th overall pick through two years. link

Are the Broncos seeing clarity at the quarterback position?

Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton says clarity will come with time at the quarterback position. On Tuesday, that appeared to come closer in focus.

Since the start of offseason work in May, the Broncos quarterbacks have rotated snaps. That ended on the second day of padded practice when Zach Wilson saw Bo Nix and Jarrett Stidham receive the majority of the work.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo.-- Denver Broncos offensive tackle Quinn Bailey, a player coach Sean Payton called "easily [the team's] Lineman 6" because of his versatility and importance on the depth chart, left Wednesday's practice in an ambulance after he suffered a fractured right ankle.

Bailey, who was likely the Broncos' top reserve at tackle, suffered the injury in team drills when another player rolled up on his leg. As he was treated by the team's medical staff, most of his teammates took a knee.

NFL executive Gary Brantley told The Associated Press the league will test Sony's Hawk-Eye technology during some preseason games. The system most likely wouldn't be ready for full implementation until next season, though it could happen sooner.

D'onta Foreman airlifted to hospital following head injury.

Follow every development these next few weeks with Yahoo Sports before the NFL regular season starts.
Foreman has no cervical spine or spinal cord injury. In fact, he never had loss of movement or sensation in any one of his limbs. Seems like the docs just were extra cautious. Should be back very soon.

Doctors just being extra cautious? What is this unknown phenomenon?

:) They were probably trying to give conservative observation time in order to make sure that there was no delayed sensory or motor changes due to swelling secondary to potential
spinal cord contusion.

But in a regular season game, he would have just gone back in.

Panthers backup QB Andy Dalton has come up with a quad injury, and the Panthers are trying to quickly come up with another QB. The Panthers are saying he will not be available for "a couple of weeks." Good luck if they really believe that.
