Thuney did NOT sustain the typical pectoral tendon tear. He tore the pectoralis major muscle itself. This is not an easy strain to rehab quickly. I have no idea why there was any question of his return by the SB.

Many people do not realize how direly Thuney will be missed. He took 97% of offensive snaps this past season. He is a warrior and has a great pain threshhold, making his exit with the injury very telling, since he has only missed 2 games in his entire career.

Earlier today, my wife and I were talking about how Reid and Mahomes are becoming the new Belichik and Brady and how the road to the SB in the AFC is going to go through them going forward.

There seriously needs to be some major punishments for that kind of behavior or the diva syndrome will only get worse.
How do you step and check your coach but nothing happen and you think the problem wont get worse.
Excusing the behavior cause he "is passionate" can be a defense for all sorts of vile behavor.
Doesn't mean you ignore accountability.
It's already bad enough seeing the egos of some of these narcissists and what they get away with as "acceptable".

I'm not sure, at this point in time, the Texans belong in the top 10. Top 15 I can see. This offseason and draft is probably the most important in Texans history to get right.

They finished last season in the final 8 teams. And their best players were either rookies or on rookie contracts so likely to improve (Stroud/Anderson/Stingley) or playing injured and should improve (Tunsil).
There will be a lot of roster churning but the core of this team will be here. Not sure how they take a step back beyond injury to you know who (so lets never mention it!)

I saw a video on Instagram regarding retired black players receiving less in Concussion settlements because black players were deemed to have a lower intelligence level to start off with. I thought...there's no way in hell this is true....So I did a little research and I'll be damned...This is real. I know this is old news to some, but I may have missed it due to largely being checked out on football the past few years.
Anyways, this method of "race-norming" was just ended in 2021.
The NFL literally had to be taken to court to stop the practice of paying black players less in concussion settlements because they had a lower baseline in cognitive function--just three years ago.

Maybe the purple in the Super Bowl LVIII logo had a different meaning altogether.
That was the color of the Gatorade dumped on Chiefs coach Andy Reid, after Kansas City won the championship. And someone apparently knew.
Via Erich Richter of the New York Post, “significant sharp action” on the color purple caused the DraftKings odds to drop from +275 to -130. Fanatics had 60 percent of the overall betting money on purple.
As noted by the Post, only six states and D.C. allow betting on the color of the Gatorade dumped on the coach of the Super Bowl winner. And for good reason. Plenty of people know the color of the Gatorade in advance. With the NFL not nearly as concerned about protecting material non-public information as it should be, this is one very easy way for people to blab — and in turn for the information to be leveraged for unwarranted profit.
It makes sense to simply not allow betting on props like this. While the limits aren’t high, the information can be abused, once someone from the two teams playing in the Super Bowl start letting others know.
Inside information in the NFL can be misused in various ways, both as to game strategy and as to offseason topics like which players will be drafted in which spot. It’s virtually impossible for the NFL to properly protect inside information; all the league can do is punish severely anyone who ever gets caught sharing it.
Frankly, most people of reasonable intelligence would be able to find a way to share inside information without leaving footprints, digital or otherwise. It would be naive to assume it isn’t happening.
Most people of reasonable intelligence also can find a way to make a little money from sharing that inside information, too.

As NFL explores adopting XFL kickoff, UFL opts not to do so

The NFL is considering the adoption of the XFL’s unique kickoff. The UFL, which merges the XFL and USFL, will not be using it.
On Tuesday, the UFL announced the rules that will apply to the joint venture that commences play on March 30. When the league literally kicks off, the kickoff will look like the traditional NFL/college kickoff, with one major difference: the kick will happen from the 20.
The NFL currently kicks from the 35. All UFL touchbacks will go to the 25.
The summary of rules does not mention whether a fair catch inside the 25 will result in the placement of the ball at the 25. If not, there will be more returns in the UFL, since the kick will need to travel 80 yards to make it to the end zone.
The XFL kickoff had the kick come from the 20, with 10 players on the kicking team at the receiving team’s 35 and 10 players from the receiving team on their 30 yard line, five yards apart. The 20 players on the 35 and the 30 did not move until the kick was caught, giving it the look of an electric football game before the switch was turned on.
Now that the joint XFL/USFL has dumped the XFL kickoff, it will be interesting to see whether the NFL continues to study it — and whether the NFL potentially adopts it.

I’m going to follow the Bears in the upcoming draft b/c their situation will be very interesting. Fields, to date has been slightly below average to average and this was mostly due to him having a decent tail-end this past season.
Will the Bears pass on a QB and get Fields another weapon in WR- Marvin Harrison Jr (Ohio St) or do the Bears try to move on from RD1 pick Fields and draft QB- Caleb Williams (USC)?
I don't think there's any chance the Bears even sniff an equal return on investment for Fields via the trade market....at this time. If I'm the Bears, maybe I hold onto Fields and draft Williams or QB- Jayden Daniels (LSU) in RD1-001. I get the feeling the Bears could improve their return on trading Fields before the deadline or if a QB needy team knocks on the door before the deadline. Fields would still be playing on the final year of his rookie contract with a 5th year option.
Personally, I think the Bears would nail RD1 by selecting LSU duo, QB- Jayeden Daniels at 1 and WR- Brian Thomas Jr at 9.

They could take Nabers or MHJ with the first and Joe Alt with the 9th.
Taking the WR first could cause a team just outside the top ten to move up into the top 5 for a QB and that should cause Alt to fall to 9th.
If Alt is not there, Fashanu is a great consolation prize

I really hope the Bears aren't thinking below a RD4. A RD5 should be their expectations. When the Bears start making calls.....everyone in the NFL will know they're drafting Williams or Daniels......the asking price be pushed to the favor of the requesting team.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- One person is dead, and 10 to 15 people were injured after shots were fired at the end of the Chiefs' Super Bowl parade Wednesday, Kansas City Police Chief Stacey Graves said.
Two people were taken into custody, Graves said during a news conference Wednesday afternoon.
According to ABC News, citing fire department officials, three of the injured are in critical condition, five are in serious condition and one person has non-life-threatening injuries. The condition of others injured wasn't immediately known.

Just spitballing here, but with so many good receivers in the league and so many seemingly good ones coming out in the draft, there could be a little "cooling off" of the price of free agents - that or some may find themselves waiting a long time for a team to pick them up and that may mean settling for a lower contract.

Here's the key part of the article.
After paying Jones the earned incentives, the Chiefs have just over $15 million in cap space.
So as of now, the Chiefs couldn't tag Jones if they wanted to. Sure, the Chiefs could turn Mahomes $35 milion roster bonus into a signing bonus. That will create an additional $28 million of cap space. Except the Chiefs have 5 other defensive starters that are free agents, plus the starting LT, Also, key starters MLB Nick Bolton and O-linemen Creed Humphrey and Trey Smith are on the last year of their rookie contracts. And the kicker is that Mahomes is due for another $32 million roster bonus in 2025.
Jones isn't going to give the Chiefs a Mahomes deal. This is his chance to be paid and he will want to beat Aaron Donald's $31 million AAV and Quinnen Williams $66 million in guaranteed salaries and bonuses. It makes zero sense for the Chiefs to bring back Jones considering all of the other players that have to be paid.

Some people have a thing against players from Clemson, Ohio State QBs and/or if the player’s parents were Nigerian doctors…
But Ed Reed has made me want to avoid multi time all pro players who have won Super Bowls with a different team. I am scared of giving Chris Jones the contract his play has earned and expecting him to perform at that level.
Honestly only multi time all pro that went to a different team and performed at the level of his contract that I can think of is Reggie White. Same age as Chris Jones when he went to the Packers. But the big difference there is White had zero Super Bowl rings when he got signed by the Packers.
Honestly, that's similar to a Clemson, Nigerian phobia. And it's different. That was ownership trying to push the team over a hump when they were about to go in free fall. Bring Ed Reed in for 2011 or 2012 and it's a different story.
The Texans now have a window. It will be 2026 before Stroud and Anderson need to be extended. 2027 before big numbers hit the cap. The Texans have the cap room to make big moves. No reason to sit on it. No reason to bring in 20 JAGs on one year deals. The time is now. Go for it.

I don't want Jones at his price.
The bulk of his stats come in the 4th quarter of games iow, his first three quarters are downright sub par. Sure he shows up big when it counts, but those stats definitely raise my eyebrows.
Yeah, I heard the Seth Payne stuff yesterday while waiting for Academy to open. Here's the thing: Jones had 39 pressures from the DT position in 2023. More than any other DT. If the guy can do that while half arsing it for 3 quarters, so be it. Without Chris Jones, the Chiefs don't have 3 Lombardi trophies.

I'm leaning towards the 2 for 1 idea, that way you have some depth if someone goes out for extended lengths of time, not to mention a decent replacement when he needs a break.
We have all seen what DR and co can do with ordinary dudes - turns them into scrappers from scraps.
