NFL Random Thought of the Day

From Sept 30>

All the reports were originally saying that Chubb was believed to have only suffered an MCL injury. I originally commented that it had to be a multiligament injury among other things.

As I find out, during surgery they confirmed and repaired a ruptured MCL, a ruptured medial capsule, a torn meniscus...................as well as the ligament I was sure was also ruptured...........the ACL [for this combination of injuries, definitely sustained a formal dislocation of his knee]. In a multiligament trauma, the ACL is commonly staged. In Chubb's case, the ACL repair will be addressed sometime in the next 2-3 months. Also undoubtedly, there has been significant articular damage................additional to the time he previously in 2015 sustained a serious multi-trauma to his knee............a dislocated knee, 3 torn ligaments (posterior cruciate ligament, medial collateral and lateral collateral) and articular cartilage damage. The surgeon and team is now reporting that he will return for the 2024 season. If he is even able to return at all, which I believe is questionable, you will not be seeing the Nick Chubb you know. He'll likely also be looking at microfracture surgery.

This cannot possibly be the whole story. You don't get a compartment syndrome from a "shin contusion." There has to have been either a fracture or a severe soft tissue crush trauma for this entity to result.

Vikings linebacker Jordan Hicks exits hospital after surgery for compartment syndrome
By Mike Florio
Published November 14, 2023 01:40 PM

Vikings linebacker Jordan Hicks was released from the hospital earlier today, after surgery to repair compartment syndrome in his leg.

Hicks suffered the leg injury that triggered runaway swelling in his leg. It can be serious, and potentially fatal, if not repaired.

Via ESPN.com, Hicks suffered a shin contusion during Sunday’s win over the Saints. He participated in 23 more snaps before leaving the game.

Hicks had surgery after the game. He spent two nights in the hospital.

When I watched the Panthers game tape on Thursday, when TE Hayden Hurst's head hit the turf, he went into the fencer's pose. No one stopped the game or took him out for evaluation. Now he finds himself in the Concussion Protocol. Someone or several someones were evidently brain dead to miss this. But safety of the players is the foremost priority of the NFL. :mcnugget:

What the heck happpened to Robbie Anderson / Robbie Chosen? His first couple of years in the NFL, I thought he was going to be a healthier version of Will Fuller.

Seems like he's turned into a head case and was traded from the Jets to Carolina where he got into shouting matches on the sidelines with coaches that led to him being traded to the Cardinals. Now he got waived by the Dolphins.

It's just weird that this guy appeared to be on his way to being one of the best deep threats WRs and he's now 30 years old and traded and waived by four different teams. Considering that Matt Rhule was his HC in college, traded for him with the Panthers and when Rhule got fired, this was his reaction.

BEREA, Ohio -- Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson said his second career start will be "night and day" from his first one two months ago.

"I know what to expect now," he said Thursday. "I'm not stepping out there for the first time -- not going out there wide-eyed anymore."

61 QBs have thrown at least 1 pass in the NFL this season, 11 of those are rookies. 6 teams have used at least 3 QBs. 10 teams have used just 1. That means 22 teams have used more than their QB1 this season. So far.

Neville Gallimore fined only $9,754 for kick that got him ejected
By Michael David Smith

After Cowboys defensive lineman Neville Gallimore was ejected from Sunday’s game for kicking Giants guard Justin Pugh, Pugh said he felt badly for Gallimore that his paycheck was going to get docked.

As it turns out, Gallimore’s paycheck wasn’t docked all that much, relative to how harsh the NFL often is with player fines.

The league confirmed today that it fined Gallimore $9,754 for the kick that got him kicked out of the game.

That’s a surprisingly light punishment for such a blatantly illegal act. The NFL routinely fines players many multiples of that for bang-bang plays in the heat of the action in which a player clearly wasn’t intending to hurt anyone. In Gallimore’s case, he chose to kick an opponent after a play was over. The NFL merely slapped him on the wrist for it.

NFL fines Derwin James $43,710 for unnecessary roughness
By Michael David Smith
Published November 18, 2023

The NFL has hammered Chargers safety Derwin James for a hit in Sunday’s loss to the Lions.

James was fined $43,710 for a hit to the head of Lions wide receiver Josh Reynolds. James also got a 15-yard penalty for the hit to Reynolds’ helmet.

The NFL’s disciplinary process classifies James as a repeat offender, as he has previously drawn flags and fines. He said this season that he thinks he’s getting more scrutiny than most players because of his past.

“I think I am a little bit,” James said last month. “I’m not here to referee what they need to call. I’m here to play football and help my team win games.”

Those 15-yard penalties aren’t helping his team, and a fine of this magnitude could be viewed as a warning that a suspension could be coming if James doesn’t stop hitting receivers in the head.

The fact that he's Chosen to change his last name to Chosen should tell us all we need to know about this guy.

Watching news on TV right now and a Dave Portnoy is suing the Bengals and the NFL for not listing Burrow on the injury report prior to the Ravens loss. He bet $120,000 on the Bengals to win. Now, video has surfaced showing Burrows with a bandage/wrap around his wrist prior to the game. This video was deleted from public media after it became known it was showing Burrows bandaged wrist.

The scrolling headline I'm watching reads : Burrow Injury and Gambling.

Don't put your money down on this........even if the Raven go deep into the playoffs, I doubt that he serves much more than a decoy if he tries to return.
