NFL Random Thought of the Day

KC is a really good team. Multiple times they were on the verge of being blown out yet here they are a FG behind. Very impressive first half. Front 7 needs to generate pressure.

PS
Eric Berry is a man’s man at safety.

Jerruh just needs to shut up and let things play out with the attorneys. His interview is a disjointed and unintelligible clumping of words.

Jerry Jones promises “good news” on Ezekiel Elliott

Same dude who pushed for Deflategate and pressured Goodell to go after the patriots and Brady with no evidence in one of the worst frame jobs in NFL history. Take that karma and shove it up your ass Jerry. You get what you asked for when you pushed for Goodell to play GOD. Laughing at your pain Jerry.

The PATS are getting LIT THE **** UP!!

So didn't see the game... WTF happened to the Patriots?

They have legitimate holes on defense in their front 7 that were magnified even more when Hightower got hurt.

The absence of Julian Edelman on offense is huge for them because they have trouble staying on schedule in manageable down/distance situations without his help. Causing Brady to have to take more risks which was tough against the KC secondary when they had Berry matched up with Gronk and Peters on cooks the majority of the game.

Texans have a very good chance. Especially early in the year while Bellichek tries to figure out a solution to the Edelman/front 7 problem.

Scrappy white guys dropping left and right for the Pats. Amendola is injured yet again. Looking like his third career concussion.

Eric Berry's injury is season altering for KC. He shut down Gronk. One on one, Berry owned Gronk. That doesn't happen. Hopefully his Achilles heals and he's back next year.

.

Did Tom Brady become highly inaccurate all of a sudden? 16 of 36 (44%)

Another example that completion percentage over a small sample size is a poor indicator of QB accuracy.

We saw a lot of balls that looked off target, unless Brady has some medical issue that would affect his accuracy, I'd say it's more likely an out of sync issue... plus he was throwing away a lot of balls.

The Chiefs D was not getting ANY pass rush early on. Rushing only 3 and dropping 8. On one play, Brady had damn near 7-8 seconds in the pocket and eventually had to throw it away.

Brady missed a WIDE open TE (Allen) on first play of game. The Pats D was horrible. They have nothing on the D-Line. Harris, the FA LB from the Jets had ONE tackle I believe. Then Hightower went out. Butler was getting torched. Just an un Pats looking game. The chiefs looked FAST, the Pats looked SLOW.

Interesting note, the last time the Pats got the crap beat out of them like that....The Chiefs pounded them 41-14 on a Monday night. Pats go on to win Super bowl......

If you ask me, it's one of those questionable games on prime time where things go very different from the norm.

Smith will start throwing picks if he continues to go downfield that agressively. Some say that he's being pushed by Mahomes' show of strong arm during the preseason and would feel the need to take more shots downfield instead of the short passes he normally took. For once, he did, with flair.

Watching the highlights this morning and it seems like someone swapped Alex Smith and Tom Brady. Smith played the perfect game.

Kareem Hunt fumbled on his first carry.

What are the odds Billy would put the rookie back in on the very next possession?

Regarding the patriots I'm hesitant to view this as anything more than what it was. Just one game.

As lopsided as the final score was, even with all the new parts on offense and defense they weren't really out of it until late when KC exploded and the Pats couldn't respond.

With any team I wouldn't write them off. With the Pats I'm expecting a bounce back.

Kareem Hunt looked pretty good. Kind of ironic start to his career. 0 lost fumbles in nearly 800 college carries and then loses one on the first carry of his pro career. Then goes on to dominate the defending champs.

Wonder how the return on investment will play out on Hunt at #86 vs. Fournette at #4. Haven't seen Fournette play yet so not making a judgement. Just interested.

How many of you had Kareem Hunt starting on your fantasy roster?

My wife drafted him (she was clueless, she only plays because I asked her to), and I was questioning her why she drafted AKEEM Hunt, you know, the Texans RB who got cut, haha. And then KAREEM goes off last night. She didn't even know, but it's funny now

Alex Smith looked very impressive last night.
But the Patriots defense looked a little thin to me.
Injuries have already exposed their fragile defense.
They lack any semblance of a good pass rush...

It may be the worst Patriots defense in two decades.
Even their D-coordinator was tugging on his beard in frustration.

Can the Texans beat the Patriots Week 3 at Foxborough?
I'm actually giving us a "decent chance" to pull off the upset.

The guy in my league who had Hunt had him on the bench. B@st@rd drafted him two picks before I had a chance to. And, get this, his lineup was invalid this week because there's no kicker on his roster. Until he grabs a kicker, he's basically forefeited this week.

Oh and one of my FF owners had Alex Smith on the bench. He better hope Dak can put up 31 pts like Smith did.

LoL

Travis Henry with the double-double though. 11 kids, 10 baby mamas.
He must have gone broke. I think he went to prison for failure to pay his child support to numerous women. Also was busted for drugs if I recall. The guy made a Pro Bowl in 2002 and I haven't heard of him ever since!

The Red Zone and Sunday Ticket has been discontinued in Canada by the NFL. The NFL this year decided to go to live streaming........................every glitch that could happen, did happen on their 1 game. Live streaming is nowhere as reliable as broadcast TV.. It's future as a substitute for TV is going to have an uphill battle. The NFL has been toying with expanding their revenues, but this relatively unreliable technology may have some upsetting results with fans that expect more.

It's now been revealed that Janikowski has not been dealing simply with back muscle problems. The Raiders have know for several weeks that he has suffered a lumbar disc injury. He has now been placed on IR. A kicker with any type of lumbar back muscle problems would be bad enough, but a disc problem could herald not only the end of the season, but possibly the end of a career.

Kaepernick rally scheduled for Soldier Field on Sunday
September 9, 2017, 4:53 PM EDT

Mike Glennon will make his debut as the Bears starting quarterback on Sunday at Soldier Field. Before the game, a protest will be held in support of an unemployed quarterback with far more significant career accomplishments.

Dubbed the Standing 4 Kaepernick Protest — Chicago, a source with knowledge of the situation tells PFT roughly 200 to 500 protesters are expected to show up and support Colin Kaepernick. A permit has been secured, and police are aware of the event.

Kaepernick has no involvement in the demonstration. He held a “Know Your Rights” camp in Chicago, and he donated money to a group there.

Last month, a demonstration in support of Kaepernick was held outside the league office in New York. Kaepernick attracted widespread attention in 2016 when he stopped standing for the national anthem. He has made it clear through intermediaries that he will stand this year — if of course he ever ends up on an NFL roster.

He held a “Know Your Rights” camp in Chicago

He should also have held a 'Know Your Limits' rally. Someone would sign him regardless of the circus if they thought he would be an asset (MANY MANY examples of this are available). There are 2 possible reasons why he isn't playing. 1 - nobody thinks he's good enough to even be a backup. 2 - he is demanding a position and/or contract that is unreasonable. Since there are reports that he has been approached by multiple teams, #2 is seemingly obvious and it's his own fault that he's not currently in the NFL. Anyone showing up for the rally is both ignorant and stupid.

Browns to use pre-anthem video for players to state social concerns
Posted by Mike Florio on September 10, 2017, 9:59 AM EDT

The Browns may not be winning many games this year, but they’ll be 1-0 when it comes to finding a way to let players express concerns about racial equality and social justice beyond the two minutes the national anthem is playing.

Per multiple sources, the Browns will play before the anthem a pre-produced video in which players express concerns about racial equality in America. The video, roughly 30 seconds in length, includes messages from tackle Joe Thomas, quarterback DeShone Kizer, linebacker Jamie Collins, linebacker Christian Kirksey, and coach Hue Jackson, among others. It closes with tight end Randall Telfer explaining that the flag isn’t about the red, white, and blue fabric but that it’s about what the flag stands for.

The players also asked owners Jimmy and Dee Haslam to stand on the field with the team during the playing of the video and the national anthem.

The video flows directly from the message given to players by Hall of Fame running back Jim Brown after 12 of them took a knee for the anthem preceding the Week Two preseason game before the Giants. He suggested that they come up with an alternative, constructive approach to communicate their concerns regarding racial equality. And so they did.

And so should every other team in every other stadium. With the anthem currently providing players with their only opportunity to send a message, the league should urge all teams to carve out a separate spot for allowing the message to be sent in a way that undermines in no way the national anthem or the flag.

So congratulations to the Browns players and their ownership for finding a way to harmonize important social issues and the national anthem. Win or lose today or for the rest of the season, this is a huge victory for the Browns and the NFL.

Romo came with energy in the booth. Calling out stuff before it happened
Tony Romo is awesome! But his voice on air sounds a little soft pitched to me. I had to raise my volume super high to hear most of his conversations. It's almost like I'm watching golf and not football. But when he got excited and louder it sounded okay...

When I watch the NFL on CBS I want to jump out of my seat and be involved in the game. Not laid back and relaxed, like I'm ready to fall asleep watching golf. Tony Romo is going to cover some golf broadcasts on CBS later in the year. I think he's well suited for that.

I'll warm up to Tony Romo's on-air voice eventually. He kind of sounds like A.C. Slater aka Mario Lopez as the host on Extra. It took me a year or two to finally get used to him. Mario Lopez's brother in law is former Texan, Kailee Wong.

Posted in another thread, Jags WR Allen Robinson suffered an ACL against the Texans ..........#31 since the beginning of TC / #33 since the beginning of the League year

Couldn't disagree more. And don't get me wrong, not at all telling you what you should like, but I appreciate a calm and composed commentary. Someone who can intelligently, thoughtfully, and intelligibly break down analysis of what's going on. The over the top exaggerated delivery is fit for something as less-dimensional as wwe or rollerderby, I'd like to absorb and process the many moving and interactive parts in a high-level football game though. Jmo and all that.
