NFL Random Thought of the Day

not a Peyton fan but, what's worse, to keep getting there and come up short or not to get there at all?

As a long time (and damn it's been a long time ) Houstonian, I would say never getting there is much worse

I too would say never getting there. I just thought it was an interesting stat. Considering lots of folks call P Manning one of the all time greats.

most of those folks are stat freaks.
Peyton is really, really good until he runs up against a solid defense that has few weaknesses.
That's why I like Rodgers and Big Ben and Wilson; they can adlib when the structured play is well defensed. Even solid defenses crack when the QB can buy extra time.

I think Peyton is the greatest QB of my time, bar none, because of the way he plays the game & I've watched a heck of a lot of his games.

As important as the QB is, I still believe wins & losses are team efforts. More so in the play offs, more so in the Super Bowl.

A QB gets you to the playoffs, a TEAM wins there for ya

The Patriots have won/lost 4 of the 5 SB's by 3 points. Lost the 5th by 4.

Hope that holds true today and we get a good game.

Browns new logo...two years spent working on revamping their logo. Yeah.

Broncos requested a $10 million pay cut, per his agent. Then $7. Then settled on $4 million which half can be earned back by winning AFCC and other half for SB.

Jay Cutler makes more money now than Peyton Manning. :truck:

Man rumors running rampant in chicago...marshall to the jets, looking at cutler to be traded and i hear forte to oakland?

I havent looked it up. Just a friend heard that today

How does the average of the top 5 make someone the highest paid?

I know there's a year lag but ... seems odd.

With teams told earlier Monday that the per-team cap amount for 2015 is officially $143.28 million, the franchise amount for kickers and punters is $4.126 million. However, according to the collective bargaining agreement, if a player’s full compensation from the previous season, including salary and bonuses, plus 20 percent, is more than the franchise amount, then he will receive the higher number.

Gostkowski’s 2014 salary was $2.9 million, plus $800,000 from his prorated signing bonus, and a $105,000 workout bonus, giving him a total compensation of $3.805 million. So his 120 percent figure is $4.566 million, and if he plays the coming season under the tag as opposed to signing a long-term deal with the Patriots, that’s the amount he’ll receive.

I'll just put this here since "Ben" is too short and "Roethlisberger" is too long to use in TTalk's search function...

:spit:

Joel Corry @JoelCorry
Roethlisberger is now the NFL's 2nd highest paid player by new money average at $21.85M per year. Aaron Rodgers is tops at $22M per year.

Hits keep coming for the Niners. From PFT.com:

The 49ers have suffered another loss at linebacker.

Chase Thomas, an outside linebacker who played five games for the 49ers last season, has suffered a torn ACL while working out, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Marijuana drug testing at the NFL Combine is more of an "idiot test." You KNOW you will be tested - how do you let yourself fail?

100% -> RT @nfldraftscout: Most NFL teams don't care if players smoke weed. They care if players can't pass a test and end up suspended.
