NFL Random Thought of the Day

does anybody have worse luck with interceptions this year than tannehill? it seems every time i turn around he's thrown another that a receiver popped up into the air.

I don't know about that. With a little over a minute left in the first half, he gift wrapped one to Calvin Pace that went through his hands and bounced off his facemask for an incompletion, I'd say that kind of makes it a break even night.

He had a couple like that tonight

you're probably right, i don't watch enough games to see the drops - just the highlights containing ones that were caught.

After last night I don't think Rex lasts the season. He'll be at the Dole Office.

Dole Office Clerk: Occupation?
Ryan: Stand-up philosopher.
Dole Office Clerk: What?
Ryan: Ok, football coach. I coalesce the vapors of human experience into a viable and meaningful football season.
Dole Office Clerk: Oh, a *bullsh!t* artist!
Ryan: *Grumble*...
Dole Office Clerk: Did you bullsh!t last week?
Ryan: No.
Dole Office Clerk: Did you *try* to bullsh!t last week?
Ryan: Yes!

I'd fire everyone else and keep Rex. Then dump the QBs on the roster and -- after hiring a competent GM -- draft QBs and DBs and OLs. Playoffs in two years.

With 12:00 minutes left in the 4th Q -- when I looked at the box -- Geno was 4/8 passing. That's Rex & staff letting the front office know what they're able to do with the QBs provided, imo.

Other than the owner, Rex was the only one of significance involved in the selection of both Mark Sanchez, and Geno Smith. Two high draft picks on QB's blown in a five year period is gonna get virtually any head coach fired. Besides, I'm not convinced that Rex is ever gonna allow a good NFL offense to developed under him, and you can't find consistent success neglecting that phase of the game.

St Louis Rams have just gone from Indifference to a team I'd love to beat soundly like a division rival.

They have the audacity to support, not the victims, but the rioters who are burning Ferguson. And of coarse the NFL is staying out of it like the daffodils they are. (Pansy doesn't mean what it did when I was a kid)

But I'll remember them with the ~fondness~ of Cubs fans.

I hate broken ribs and having once had a bruised lung (which I understand is a medical misnomer) gotta feel for the guy.

It was too much to ask of the football deities to let Luck lose for our sake

That's the game I saw up here. The Colts OL should have been penalized for false starts the entire first half. Add in the PI against the Browns on the Colts last possession vs one that wasn't called on the Colts just a minute earlier. I doubt next week's officiating will be any different.

The Dallas Cowboys will travel to Lambeau Field for a playoff game and upset the Green Bay Packers in a snow-flurry game with temperatures reaching 8 degrees. Tony Romo will win his second playoff game in his career.

In 2008, the 8-8 Chargers, 9-7 Cardinals and 9-6-1 Eagles turned heads by going a combined 5-2 against other teams (not each other) in the playoffs. Take away that fluky year, however, and what you're left with is the fact that playoff teams with sub-.600 records in the Super Bowl era have otherwise gone 29-67 in the postseason versus .600-plus teams, and only two of them -- the 1979 Rams and 2011 Giants -- made it to a Super Bowl. To me, that's a pretty strong indication that sub-.600 teams are seldom legitimate contenders.

Interesting

Coach Bruce Arians said he even approached Kurt Warner...

...43 and five years removed from throwing his last NFL pass, after the game to see if he might be interested in making a comeback.

"I talked to Kurt last night," he said, adding of Warner's wife, "Brenda's not going to let him play."

Not so fast. Warner said his wife gave him her blessings when he texted her about the idea Thursday night.

"I said, 'What do you think if I went back?,' " Warner said, "and she goes, 'Yes, go ahead.' I'm sure it was more out of, 'Yeah, right. You're stupid. You're never going back, so I'll just say that.'

"But again, you see the one side of it and you go, 'Man, this could be awesome.' And it would be great to go back and help. This team's in great shape. So you understand that part of it and it sounds like, 'Wow, this is great.' But then somebody's got to be realistic. There's not too many people being realistic and I've had to be the one that kind of says, 'Dude, snap out of it. This is ridiculous for me to think this.' "

It's far-fetched, but how cool would it be if Warner were to actually author another improbable feel-good story?

"My boys, they would eat this up," Warner said. "They're huge football fans now, and they got to see the tail end of things, but they would jump up and down at the opportunity for me to go back and play and kind of be a part of it.

"But like I said, none of them are being realistic. If I actually asked Brenda and said, 'I'm going to go throw the football,' she'd be like, 'Oh, hold on. Baby, just relax. Who do you think you are?' She'd get me to pause and bring some sense back into me if I actually went that far."

So, you're saying there's not a chance at all, Kurt?

"As fun as it sounds and as neat of a story as it could be, yeah," he said. "I have to be the one that understands really what this would entail and to be realistic that there's no way I can do it."

I am confused. I was looking at a website(the506)

Cleveland game is going to be on fox?

Or did they make a mistake?

One of the interchangeable games this year I imagine. Just like we were on Fox a few times. There will be a couple NFC games on CBS

Jake locker injured his shoulder another titans QB go down. They are trying to keep up with us

49ers Gore knocked out with a concussion
Now Hyde's knee got bent back pretty good and he limped to the bench.

They are getting very thin at Rb

10-7 Seattle

Helmet to chest hit to the quarterback

Penalty on the 49ers on hit to Russell Wilson

Nfl refs have no consistency with these hits to the qbs

What a bullshit call

If any of y'all saw this. What is a defensive player to ****ing do?

I didn't see the play. Did he lead with the crown of his helmet into the QB chest? If so, that's definitely a flag.

i briefly saw the replay, it looked like he lead with his facemask directly into wilson's sternum and wrapped him up. isnt that EXACTLY how it's supposed to be done?

The Redskins and Jay Gruden gave up at the end of the Giants game, and it was weird and sad
Of all the odd things Jay Gruden did on Sunday - starting an injured quarterback who couldn’t make it past the opening drive, not activating three quarterbacks despite trotting out an injured starter, not intervening when Santana Moss began screaming at officials before halftime, not realizing that Moss had been ejected from the game until a Fox broadcaster later told him, not trusting the roll-outs and bootlegs that had allowed Robert Griffin III to succeed in the first half - nothing was more bizarre than his decision-making in the final two minutes of the game...

Wapo ain't happy.

Would have looked great in a Texans uniform........but we kept........

Glover Quin keeps coming up clutch for Lions this year
By Dave Birkett, Detroit Free Press 9:12 p.m. EST December 16, 2014

There was nothing special about it.

He didn't bait Teddy Bridgewater into throwing into bad coverage like he did Drew Brees earlier this year, and he didn't make a highlight-reel catch like he did the previous two weeks.

But when Detroit Lions safety Glover Quin intercepted his team-leading sixth pass in Sunday's 16-14 win over the Minnesota Vikings, he proved once again that his clutch gene burns as brightly as any defensive back's in the league.

"He always seems to be where the ball is, and that's because he hustles, that's because he recognizes quickly, and that's because he catches them when they throw it to them, as well," Lions coach Jim Caldwell said. "He's got a knack for that."

Quin arguably has been the best player on the Lions' second-ranked defense this year.

He's not as dominant as defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, whose presence impacts every aspect of the game, but Quin ranks third on the Lions with 63 tackles, is tied for the NFL lead with six interceptions, and his reliable play in the back of the defense has propped up the entire secondary.
THE REST OF THE STORY

Zero Tolerance in effect

This isn't zero tolerance at all. As the Forty-Niners put it "Ray has demonstrated a pattern of poor decision-making that has led to multiple distractions for this organization and this football team that really can no longer be tolerated."
