NFL Random Thought of the Day

Arian finally learned to reply to asinine questions with asinine answers
I love it

I didn't find that question to be asinine. He has been hurt, I would want to know what kind of workload he thinks he might need to be ready for the regular season and he gave that kind of answer. Plain and simple he's a jerk. Reporters should just tell him what he thinks isn't important and to go screw himself. Then give him the Barry Bonds treatment.

Arian thinks he's the smartest man in the room, what he fails to realize is the minute he's no longer playing nobody will care what he thinks, much less ask for his thoughts on any subjects.

I for one will be glad when he's out of the NFL.

I find almost all media/player, media/coach interchanges useless. Coaches will never give you a straight answer to a real question of substance, and they coach the players to do the same. So, to get stories, media has to ask predictable, canned questions, to which they will get predictable, canned answers. Occasionally you get a player like Arian, who will try to give you an entertaining answer to your canned question. I'm not saying sports media is completely useless, but when it comes to interviewing players and coaches, I think it pretty much is.

It was a dumb question. How do anyone put a number on that sort of thing?? If the reporter had asked how close does he (Arian) think he is to being 100%, that would have made some sense. But asking how much work does he need? Players, most all players, want all the work/reps they can get to get into game shape and hone their skills. That should go without saying. Why even ask such a goofy question?

Bryan Stork the Pats center just got cut. He has had concussion issues but would be a great insurance policy until Martin gets healthy.

The Pats decided to go with a concussion free David Andrews. They also have Josh Kline who has started at OG but can play the C position. Man what would it be like to have such great depth on the OL.

Wow, this is certainly unprecedented. Unless there is an extreme amount of misinformation, Bosa and his agent Todd France of CSAA Sports (a group getting very well known for their unreasonable stances in negotiations) are acting like douches.:

Belichick sent him to the showers during the Pats/Bears scrimmages for fighting. Now they flat cut him. Dude is young; 4th rd pick by the Pats in 2014 and was a starter. But Belichick won't tolerate players who can't keep their poise. But I'm thinking O'Brien might just be interested given our shakey O-line situation.

Edit:
Looks like the Texans are NOT interested in Stork.

Following up on the Stark situation; Pats ended up trading him to the Redskins. He decided he didn't want to come to Washington and was going to retire. Reports this morning are that the 'Skins have convinced him to not retire and the trade has become official.

#Redskins apparently convinced Bryan Stork not to retire. Trade made official moments ago.

The Bosa and Chargers situation is getting nastier and nastier. I could see top picks in the upcoming years refusing to play for them if they keep BS'ing. I think it's getting close to the point where he'll just say F it and sit out the year. Chargers can't draft him next year so he'd be ok. Probably still be a high draft pick too.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...ferral-issue-but-not-enough-for-the-chargers/

Point 1 from the Chargers: “An initial signing bonus payment that is larger than any player in the League has received in the last two drafts.”

Bosa’s take: He wouldn’t get the initial payment until September and multiple players over the past three years have been paid much more by this time than he would get. Some were even at 100 percent payout by now. This is why they limit the statement to the ‘initial portion’ and to 2 years.

Point 2 from the Chargers: “More money in this calendar year than every player in this year’s draft except one (QB Carson Wentz).”

Bosa’s take: Bosa should be getting more because he’s the third overall pick. The inclusion of No. 1 pick Jared Goff is misleading because he has a deal with no offsets on the guaranteed money. If the Chargers were to offer no offsets to Bosa, he’d accept the deferral.

Point 3 from the Chargers: “The largest payment and the highest percentage of signing bonus received in the first calendar year of any Chargers’ first-round selection since the inception of the current Collective Bargaining Agreement (2011).”

Bosa’s take: He should receive the largest payment in Chargers’ history because he’s the highest pick they’ve had under the current system. Since 2011, they hadn’t even had a top-10 pick.

Other aspects of Bosa’s current position include the following: (1) his proposal calls for less cash to be paid out in 2016 than Carson Wentz’s deal at No. 2, as it should; (2) Bosa’s proposal deferred more money (measured by percentages and dollars) into 2017 than five of the top seven picks in 2016 who had offset language in their deals; (3) his proposal preserves the team’s precedent of offset language and final payment of the signing bonus in March 2017.

That last point is significant. Bosa has offered to defer a significant portion of the signing bonus to March 2017 in order to get the deal done. The team’s position is that it’s still not enough of a deferral.

Other discrepancies exist regarding language (specifically, for example, the language of the training-camp roster bonuses in future years), but on the major terms Bosa has moved on the deferral issue. The Chargers don’t think he has moved enough. And so now the question is whether the Chargers make good on their threat to move the total dollars lower.

Colts may be using more crossing routes in 2016

The Colts have a new offense to go with a franchise quarterback and a glut of talented receivers. The team’s new offense, designed and run by offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski, may be incorporating a heavy dose of one of the primary Madden game crutch plays: Crossing routes.

As explained by Kevin Bowen of the team’s official website, Andrew Luck’s eight-for-eight passing performance in Week Two of the preseason was fueled by taking advantage of speedy receivers running horizontal routes across the formation.

“You’re going to want to get the ball in your best players’ hands with a little space,” Luck said.

With T.Y. Hilton, Donte Moncrief, and Phillip Dorsett each having sub-4.4-second speed, these crossing routes could lead to big gains.

“It’s an easy throw for Andrew and we can create the yards for him,” Dorsett said. “I think we should definitely have that more and more in our offense because we got guys that can [make plays]. If we catch a crossing route in man coverage and break a tackle, there’s nothing but room.”

If it works, defenses will adjust, trying to take away the crossing routes. But that will serve only to open up the other avenues of attack, eventually allowing Hilton, Moncrief, and Dorsett to run deep.

Crossing routes have always given the Texans D fits.

I know this is random, but this is the "Random" thread. I don't know why but I have always had a fascination with players jersey numbers.

I was watching Hard Knocks with the Rams. I saw that Tavon Austin is wearing #1 as his jersey number. How is that possible? He is a receiver, I thought that they were allowed numbers 10-19, and 80-89. How does he get around the rules for the allowed jersey numbers? Ok, so I did a Google search and see that he wears #11 in the past. Have they passed a new rule, or is it just a training camp thing? It was just bugging me and I was just wondering how it is possible. :littlelol:

Just a camp thing. In a game they have to wear appropriate #s.

So I was bored last night and watched the tacks/Raiders game...AJ made 3 or 4 catches that I saw. Seems he still has decent hands, but that's about it. Dude should really consider hanging it up after this season.

It'll be interesting to see if he makes their final 53.

Was watching the Ravens v Lions preseason game this morning on NFLN. The Ravens were the home team. I noticed they were playing on grass. ?? Were they playing at a different venue than their own? I wasn't paying real close attention.

Wow! Just heard on 610 that Bridgewater is out the year.

WTH happened?

Teddy Bridgewater suffers injury in non-contact drill at Vikings practice

The Minnesota Vikings canceled their practice Tuesday after quarterback Teddy Bridgewater suffered an apparently serious injury in a non-contact drill.

The Vikings asked reporters to leave the field area and to gather in the media room, where coach Mike Zimmer is expected to address Bridgewater's injury.

Players removed their helmets and gathered around Bridgewater as the third-year quarterback was examined by medical personnel. An ambulance later drove onto the field.

That's what some doctor tweeted . That it has to be more severe to call out a trauma team ( that's where the ambulance came from ) .

More than just an ambulance, picture showed paramedic from Hennepin County Medical Center which is trauma center.

Not good. Compound fracture or dislocation maybe?
