NFL Random Thought of the Day

Micah Parsons shouldn’t play until he’s 100 percent, or until he gets paid
By Mike Florio
Published October 25, 2024 07:55 PM

On Sunday night, Cowboys defensive standout Micah Parsons will miss his third straight game with an ankle injury. He should stay away until he’s completely 100 percent.

Parsons has yet to get the second contract he deserves. He’s due to make only $2.989 million this year.

He should have held out. Now that he’s injured, he should refuse to return until his high ankle sprain has fully healed. Or until the Cowboys give him the contract he should have already received.

It’s the only sliver of wisdom in the team’s decision to drag their feet on the contracts given to receiver CeeDee Lamb and quarterback Dak Prescott. With those deals not done, Micah waited his turn. If the Cowboys had signed them earlier, Parsons might have made a bigger stink.

He now should. He shouldn’t set foot on the field until his ankle has fully healed. Unless they want to pay him. Which they already should have done.
Mike Florio with the truth for once? 😲

Police said Reynolds and two others had reported they were at Shotgun Willie's, a strip club in Glendale, Colorado, and left at 2:45 a.m. Friday morning. Reynolds and one of the men left the club in an SUV and later told police they were followed by multiple vehicles and shots were fired.

Reynolds and the other man got out of the SUV when it would no longer drive on Interstate 25, the highway that bisects Denver north to south. The SUV was later found by police with multiple bullet holes in it.

The third man in Reynolds' group, who was not traveling in the SUV, was injured by broken glass but not shot, according to documents. Denver police announced they had arrested two men in connection to the shooting: Burr Charlesworth, 42, and Luis Mendoza, 35.

Samuel, who checked out of a local hospital on Tuesday afternoon following an illness that revealed fluid in his lungs, made it through practice on Thursday and Friday and is listed as questionable for Sunday night's game against the Dallas Cowboys.

The Niners could certainly use Samuel, especially considering they will still be without two other key wideouts. Jauan Jennings was ruled out for the second consecutive week as he deals with a hip injury, and Brandon Aiyuk landed on injured reserve earlier in the week with a torn ACL and MCL in his right knee.

"It was scary because it was kind of hard to breathe for real and you can't take deep breaths," Samuel said. "So, in the midst of that I'm just like, what's going on? And then we found out what was going on after the game."

Samuel first began feeling sick late Saturday night and into Sunday morning before last week's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. He attempted to play in that game despite missing most of warmups because he could tell something was off.

Tua and he knows the dangers he's taking and is good with the risk.
Basically. People up in arms about this guy coming back to play..it’s his livelihood and his life. Can’t expect this guy to just give that up like that. let the man be. If he wants to play until his brain turns to scrambled eggs, let him.

His family can try to sue, but given all this press about it, it’s likely to go nowhere.

This is another example of bringing back a player too soon....................after pneumonia with lungs that recently filled with fluid?! A Dr's clearance for return him back to practice after just a few days of diagnosis would be considered malpractice in any other setting than the NFL.

Yeah, hopefully he doesn't try to play! He needs to be on oxygen as much as possible

The bettors have determined that the Cowboys will win tonight. The refs are in on it. Very questionable penalties on the Niners defense.

Would love to have an OL that would respond like that if someone did that to Stroud. But judging by how this season has gone they would have their hands on their hips watching.
This happened in yesterday's game. CJ got the snot knocked out of him after a blown block by Green and was on his hands and knees with the OL just standing around. Not a single player helped him up.

Jordan Love left the game with a groin tear. He actually suffered the initial injury early in the game, but was not removed and forced himself to continue until he finally extended the injury and was unable to walk. Short-sightedness not unusually a long-term problem.

So one month? Two?

Cowboys DE Sam Williams suspended three games for Personal Conduct Policy violation
By Charean Williams
Published October 28, 2024 05:40 PM

The NFL has suspended Cowboys defensive end Sam Williams for three games without pay for violating the league’s Personal Conduct Policy.

The league announced the suspension, which began last week.
Williams is on season-ending injured reserve after tearing an ACL and MCL in training camp.

In August of 2023, Williams was arrested on charges of reckless driving, possession of a controlled substance and the unlawful carrying of a weapon.

He will lose a total of $211,807 in salary for the three-game suspension, but he will not miss playing in any games. Even though Williams is on injured reserve, he serves the suspension now rather than in 2025.

The draft will be interesting to me this year because of Deion and his son. He has already said his son will only play for a few teams.

It’s a train wreck.

The team is reporting "An MRI showed it was not a major injury and is a strained groin. He is considered day-to-day and has the potential to play Sunday." That would be ridiculous.

"No significant damage" translates into Grade I adductor tear. Still should not safely return prior to ~4 weeks post injury. But knowing Love and Packers they will have him play after 3 weeks in week 11 (after their Bye).

Kevin Stefanski leaning on medical team as Browns CB Denzel Ward deals with 6th concussion

Akron Beacon Journal

Browns cornerback Denzel Ward remained in concussion protocol Monday with his sixth documented concussion, coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed. What it means for Ward's future wasn't something Stefanski wasn't willing to discuss.
"Yeah, I really lean on the medical team in these type of things," Stefanski said Monday on a Zoom call. "I support our players. I know Denzel's getting great care."

Ward left Sunday's 29-24 win over the Baltimore Ravens with 10 minutes left in the third quarter after the Browns' first defensive play of the quarter. He was not near the play, a sack by linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah of Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, but left the field when the play was over.

The Macedonia native, Nordonia High School graduate and Ohio State University product spent the remainder of that defensive series, as well as the Browns' offensive series being examined in the blue medical tent on the sideline. With 7:41 remaining in the third quarter, he walked to the locker room accompanied by medical personnel, including the NFL's independent spotter.

Stefanski didn't know for certain when Ward actually sustained the concussion. He did appear to hit the ground hard as he was trying to break up Jackson's 11-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Nelson Agholor with 27 seconds remaining in the first half.

After initially listing him as questionable to return, the Browns downgraded him to out at the start of the fourth quarter. They initially said he was being evaluated for a possible head injury, although Stefanski confirmed after the game he had indeed been diagnosed with a concussion.

"I really haven't had a chance to talk to Denzel," safety Juan Thornhill said Monday. "I'm pretty sure Denzel and the training staff, they're going to do everything possible to protect him. I just hope they go about it the right way."

It's the second concussion Ward has sustained since the start of training camp. He said after suffering one in August he would change helmets to a model the NFL has deemed safer than the previous model he was wearing.

Ward said in August he wasn't going to wear a Guardian cap in games. The league mandates most players wear the protective helmet covering in practice, but has allowed it to be up to the player for game usage.

"I think the league has done a great job with their protocol when it comes to concussions," Stefanski said. "We follow it very, very closely, just like every team does. I'll trust in that part of this."

Owusu-Koramoah has been the only Browns player to wear the Guardian cap in games. He sustained a neck injury in a collision with Ravens running back Derrick Henry in the third quarter Sunday and was taken to a local hospital for overnight evaluation.

Ward's concussion history, at least in the NFL, dates back to his rookie season in 2018 when he sustained two concussions within a few weeks of each other in December.

The third concussion happened during the 2022 season, and he had his fourth during the Browns' 2023 preseason finale at the Kansas City Chiefs, although he was back in time for the regular-season opener two weeks later.

The most recent one before Sunday happened on Aug. 12 during a training camp practice. He was guarding teammate Elijah Moore during 11 on 11 drills when Moore caught a pass in front of him.

As the two fell, the back of Ward's head hit the turf. He got up slowly after that, and remained on one knee for some time. He remained in the concussion protocol until Aug. 29.

“I know people worry about the number and everything, but can't let that affect me," Ward said on Aug. 29. "I still come out here, I'm looking forward again. I'm glad to be back and playing and, yeah, I can't let the receivers off that easy in this league. So looking forward aga
