My (angry) letter to Laremy Tunsil

It would be an understatement to say that I was pissed off at one Laremy Tunsil yesterday. When that happens, I always try to get in a good night’s sleep before thinking about it some more and God forbid, even sharing my thoughts with other. I’ve had my sleep (and a nap time!) and I got to say, I am still pissed at this guy.

Notice to SteelBTexan (and any other like minded Tunsil fans), you may want to skip out on this thread if you haven’t already after the intro.

Laremy Tunsil, you sorry piece of taint, how are you such an dumbass? Even worse, what was Meco thinking when he made a derp faced turd like you TEAM CAPTAIN of all things? It’s one thing that you single handedly accounted for the majority of team penalties (most of which were backbreaking 3rd down penalties), but then you have the nerve to respond with this?!

Way to throw your trench brothers under the bus there, Mr. TEAM CAPTAIN! Some of them may or may not have also committed a false start, but you are the ****-for-brains that has made false starts a character trait throughout your entire career here. What is up with this fake victim complex you got going on here? By the way, saying you will take responsibility and then following it with “but” and a statement totally absolving yourself of responsibility is the COMPLETE OPPOSITE of taking responsibility. The fact that you sport a C on your jersey is as much of a travesty as an embarrassment.

On top of that, you follow your absolute lack of accountability state with this gem…

Jeez Louise, Christ Almighty! So let me get this straight, you lucked out and didn’t get called for it previously so you decide it’s OK to keep doing it? Then you DO get called for it and what, decided to test the refs by trying it again? No one is out to make an example of you. You are a selfish half wit that just doesn’t care about accountability or responsibility. This is a YOU problem, not an anyone else problem.

I hope to God that Meco rips this loser a new one and that he gets fined for every single penalty this numb nuts commits going forward. Please Nick, find us his replacement ASAP!

PS
I hope that a racoon craps in your pillow case every night and gives you pink eye until you shape up or GTFO!

Amen Brother, I literally had to stop watching the game yesterday. We were just embarrassing ourselves on national Tv. It sucks to because as soon as we get expectations we always come up with a stinker like this. It never fails. The drive where we were in field goal range and had literally 3 penalties on 3 back to back plays i wanted to throw my remote through the Tv. It was so disgusting to watch. The Oline has regressed as a group a ton, CJ isnt making the splash plays like last year and it seems like defenses have started taking away the little 10 to 12 yard out that was butter for Nico and Tank last year that we ran a ton on 3rd down. They also seem to be blitzing wayyy more then last year and Stroud is having to get the ball out so fast or take a sack, he doesnt seem to have time to go through his progressions like he did last year. I dont know if Diggs should be the number 2 receiver either, he doesnt have the burst it seems like he had a year or 2 ago. The chemistry between Tank and CJ has suffered quite a bit as well from Diggs. Also I could not stand the Bend but dont break defense Demeco ran all day yesterday. I hate the soft 10 yard off Zone coverage BS. But hopefully the guys get it together and fix what needs to be fixed before Sundays game against the Jags. Historically we own them so maybe thats what we need.

CJ actually did have some splash plays, but they were all called back. Want to take a guess who was responsible for that?

I would trade Tunsil for multiple reasons. His elite pass blocking is in my mind canceled out by his proponent for flags. Negative plays in big moments. His elite blocking is also less impressive because his run blocking is to be desired. He’s a one trick pony. Lastly, he doesn’t fit the team from a culture perspective.

Send him off to the Bears. They need to protect Caleb.

We will have your first and next years second round pick.

Not me. Tunsil can learn to be more disciplined and not get the penalties. What you can’t do is just plug someone else there and expect CJ to have the same protection. I am not willing to put CJ’s health on the line.

And I don’t think you are going to find any team to pay a first and a second for Tunsil.

Tunsil either lined up wrong and got flagged for an illegal formation or jumped the count and got flagged for a false start. He’s supposed to be a Pro Bowl LT.

How many times have I referred to him as being a super soft one trick pony?

He doesn’t man handle or dominate the player across from him….he finesses and tries to walk the defensive player around the pocket. He never sets anchor at the LOS, he lines up too far off the line or jumps the count trying to compensate for the defenders physicality and speed……this is what powder puffs do. If for whatever reason, CJ has to move to his left, Tunail’s responsibility will just discard his fat arse and put the heat on CJ. Tunsil gets beat every time CJ has to move. This is not the work of a Pro Bowl LT…..Pro Bowl LT’s aren’t a finesse one trick pony.

While I’m at it…..might as well lop the team’s crappy RT turnstile into the same bucket. I’m not too happy with Mason either. Him and Howard have done a very admirable job in helping defenses stuff the Texans run game after WK1.

This is going to sound crazy but Dolphins are super desperate for a QB. How about we trade them Mills and throwin LT for their left tackle, Armstead. He had one false start all of last year!

Should have seen it from my perspective.

Place was deafening loud. Loud is cool when you’re at home and crushing your opponent, when you are away and the crushee….not so much.

Dude a couple of rows back would yell out “All day!” every time Jefferson got open, he said this a l l d a y.

Kicker was when we were riding the train back jammed like sardines with Vikings fans and this 10 year old girl said to her dad “I thought the Texans were supposed to be good”.

And everyone laughed.

Oh come on. It’s all family here. You don’t have to hold anything back. Tell us what you really think.

Texans just had the highest amount of 3rd and 10 or longer attempts in the NFL since 2022. Sure Tunsil can block his side, but teams in those situations are just going to stunt and blitz from somewhere else. Ultimately he is still making it extremely unsafe for your QB by putting you in 3rd and forever situations.

You just solidified that the information you are using to base your argument on getting rid of Tunsil is one game. That is a small sample size.

Stroud threw two interceptions. Fairbairn missed a kick. Players have bad games. That doesn’t mean you just dump them on that one game.

The real question is if Tunsil can adapt his game and can coaching do better. Because both of those need to happen if they are going to fix the penalties. And both were terrible on Sunday.

I think both can.

Where is he this year?

Hey the first was tipped because the line got pushed into his lap. The second one was a terrible decision on his behalf.

How many games has his false starts cost the team?

I read Tunsil has started 70 games and has 45 false start penalties.

Were you complaining about his run blocking after the Colts game? They mainly ran behind Tunsil/Green in that game. Like I said above Tunsil was really bad yesterday, but he was far from the only one. It seems like this is a blame Tunsil for everything that went wrong yesterday. Also his comment about the Texans OL needing to work together better is spot on if you know anything about OL play.

I think the Rams/Miami/Bears etc... would give up a 1st and a 2nd in a heartbeat for Tunsil. Regardless of this thread, he's a top 5 LT and you dont think say the Rams would like to keep Stafford healthy or helping Tua not get concussed again this yr?

I don’t know if it is just a matter of discipline anymore. There are many times he moves before the snap and gets away with it. I think it is a part of his gameplan, as if he needs that extra split second to properly block the defender. If you take that away, maybe it effects his efficiency. Don’t know what’s going on in his head.

Exactly. The hatred on Tunsil in this thread is silly. Bad game by everybody and the -entire- offensive line is gonna hear about it all week. We only garnered 38 damn rushing yards and gave up sacks. That is on -everybody-, not just Tunsil. So let’s see what happens next week! I bet Stroud won’t be sacked at all.

Prime Duane Brown was worth every penny. This version of Lamar is not, he's got to get better.. a whole lot better.
.

I think Duane was underpaid. He didn’t get the highest contract in the NFL for a LT. Not even close. I mean… when he signed that extension… he had the 16th highest salary at LT. middle of the pack in terms of salary so he was a -bargain-. Tunsil is worth exactly what he is being paid.

I agree that he has to -do- better but I don’t think he necessarily needs to “get” better as a LT. He’s -already- top 3 at his position. Duane Brown never was that… and boy did I LOVE Duane brown!!!! He was a run blocking menace!!!!! Total opposite of Tunsil.

He's made 4 pro bowls in a row, so voters disagree with this post.

He didn't look passive against the Colts and played well against the Bears.

I think Duane Brown was a much better player

I didn't post the second part that you quoted

Too bad excessive penalties is a single bad game thing, but rather a big part of his career's persona

At this point I don't really understand why you would be mad at Tunsil.

The wind blows.
Water is wet.
And Tunsil false starts.

But, maybe them backyard raccoons will whisper the secrets of the universe in his ear as he naps on his hammock and get him to unTunsil himself.

I mean, Im all for it... especially if one of those talking trash pandas loves guns, tech and humorous banter.

They are already out there tearing into Cybertrunks because they recognize them for the trash bins that they are. That's aces in my book.

Well, to be fair.... cybertrucks or not.... just about everything new is a trash bin. Planned obsolescence on steroids and at a premium price.

Even those names previously synonymous with quality have gone down hill.

That said, I dont get why anyone would even want a cybertruck.

It looks like something out of a scifi super nintendo game brought to life by a man with more money than I could spend in my lifetime. I'm not mad at the man, not the design I would have approved... but could have been worse.

I will co-sign the angry letter. Tunsil sucks worse than a Hoover. I’d trade him this off-season. Meanwhile, I’d bench him and try Fischer out there. At least we will get his best effort and it gives the team a chance to see if he can be the guy.

Tunsil is the poster child for the modern egotistical, lazy, money obsessed don’t give a damn, modern athlete. Dude cares more about social media and fashion sense and getting paid, then nailing down the details of his job. And his lackluster playing, me-first, blame others attitude is like a virus. I’m worried that the LG next to him…who actually is ascending….will catch the Tunsilitis Plague and end up being softer than a roll of charmi by the time Tunsil is done with him.

This is the biggest addition by subtraction move they can make. And BTW…Nick re-upped this guy. Huge freaking mistake. I would have dumped this guy when you had the chance. Now he’s like a leach, sucking the lifeblood out of that entire o-line.

The level of hate in this thread is hilarious

Another thing people are not taking into consideration that the NFL may be enforcing these rules more strictly than they have in the past.

Well - for all the teams not named the Chiefs.

We all knew Tunsil was good for a false start. But his play made up for it. Sunday they came down hard on him. Tunsil needs to adapt.

Rules in the NFL change from time to time. Look at how defenders now have to tackle players in the open field or the QB.

Agreed, but like Howard said, it's hard when they change the rules from week to week.
