Mock Draft among boardmembers?

The Jet's pick & the rights to draft Reggie Bush are available. Anyone interested in trading up, send me a PM (Private Message).

Could you guys work out these trades before it gets to you so we don't have this draft lasting until the actual one rolls around. :)

If we actually use the 24 hour period for each draft pick the draft will last well into May. That is also going on the assumption that people stick around that long. Is it possible to just have the draft moved to a saturday evening or so and just getting 5 mins per pick?

May is a long time...

Well, we are about a day and a half in and 3 picks have been made, maybe I can PM the next 2-3 ppl ahead to have picks ready for when their time is ready and if they dont think they can make the pic on time, send me or somebody else a list of 3-4 players in order so we can pick for them....

This is the fourth draft I have done here. The problem, especilly in the later rounds, is people not showing up. What Vinny did last year was if a pick was not made in the 24 hour period, the guy with the next pick could go ahead and make his pick. If the missed pick showed, he could pick, if not, whoever ran the draft made a pick for him. Other then that, I don't know how to speed this up. The Sat. night idea is ok with me, but getting everybody together might be hard to do.

yeah, I agree with picking a player for the guy..and we can use that list that was from another post of the top 250 prospects...but the whole part of the draft that is FUN is the GM's making the picks themselves...I guess we shall wait and see, the saturday night thing would never work I dont think..

If a GM doesn't check in by 12 or 24 hours past his pick deadline remove him from the GM list and give the team to someone else.

Not a bad idea. I would go with 24 hrs. after the pick was due. Do most of you other guys aggre with doing this?

The NY Jets have just traded the #4 pick to the ST. Louis Rams for Steven Jackson, the #11 pick, & the #77 pick (3rd round).

I did not see that coming...Good trade for both I guess... STL gets the "next" Marshall Faulk, and the Jets get a bruiser and a bunch of picks...good trade...and Green Bay beefed up defensively....Good picks guys, keep em coming

San Francisco Trades the # 7 overall for Denvers 2 first round picks and their 3rd round pick...Beerlover is NOW on the clock...

BRONCOS SELECT-

Interesting pick Beerlover. Why did you choose Huff over Hawk? A tandem of DJ & Hawk would've made for a sweet linebacking corp.

Since Mario was picked ahead of me; I was going to select Huff for 49ers but decided to make trade with Denver to take care more of our team needs. Broncos have a strong LB corps,IMO

it was alot of fun to discuss trades with you guys, I'm not stuck up or unreasonable & enjoy fans of all teams so when you get the chance to help others and come out good on the deal thats a win/win :)

I'm obviously real high on Huff & Lynch is coming into the last year of his deal with the Broncos and losing his step (Champ Bailey is also getting older) but still one of the smartest NFL players ever at any position so the opportunity to teach his heir-apparent was very attractive to me along with Champ (like Aaron Glenn was to Dunta his rookie year).

Huff's value is his speed, size, cover skills as well as his physical play & there are just not very many of these types around. I would compare him to Antrell Rolle last year with a nasty streak & more speed. This would solidify the Broncos secondary for years with Domonique Foxworth & Darrent Williams.

The Broncos are in good cap position so I would try and address the DE & OL via free agency. I like taking LB's in the 2nd rd.

definately helps both sides...you had to give away a lot but u get back an impact player...and the 49ers need to address a bunch of needs so it definately was a win/win...

I put up a pic already but u'll let u know how to do it from now on...

I was told by TEXANS84

" First you find the picture that you want. Right click on it and a scroll bar should pop up. At the very bottom of it is "properties". Click on that.

There is the address (url) of the picture. Highlight that using your left mouse button and then releasing. Then right click again and hit "copy".

Once that has been copied, come over to the board and get into the post that you desire. Then go up to the toolbar icon above and click on the icon that looks like this:
http://www.houstontexans.com/fan_zon...nsertimage.gif

From there, once that pops up you click in the area and right click "paste" to paste the website address. Then hit reply. You should be good once all is done. "

Thanks a bunch.

So what does everyone think of the way the top 10 shook down? Im suprised that AJ Hawk hasnt been selected, but LB's always tend to slip a little bit...

well with the 8th pick was gonna pick Super Mario then he was taken with the 6th, and then next was Michael Huff then he went to denver with the 7th and was like "DANG!" so i went with 3rd on my list with Jimmy Williams.. i think so far we had some smart picks except for the St. Louis one.. you got a horrible defense and an Aging O-Line. Why would you pick Bush when you have Stephen Jackson and its clears he is your future?? but hey i'm not in the poster's head maybe he knows something i dont know.. but good luck with that..

where can we find the selected players cause I've no idea whats going on, what trades have been made, what players have been signed, and who has been picked.

Come on guys, lets get this show on the road....

You've got to realize that some people are at work, or school, & might not have access to the internet during the day. Last night when you were PM'ing me, I'd just gotten home from work around 8:00 & since I hadn't expected to see Hawk still on the board, it took me a little longer to make my decision & then my computer suddenly rebooted.

In other words, what I'm saying is, be patient. Your own rules give each of us up to 24 hours to make their pick.

Wow, the virtual Jets got Stephen Jackson and AJ Hawk. Well done. Not sure if it works from a cap or positional standpoint, but they are two good assets to work with or use as trade bait.

Don't take offense, Im just trying to keep it going at a reasonable rate because I am getting PM'd as to how we can speed things up...

No offense taken. Hopefully, some of them will read the post & become a little more patient.

I think the protocol for missed picks is the next ppl in line select and whenever the person checks in they are able to make the selection of whatever players are left....it was mentioned earlier in the post and its better than just giving them the next BPA...

thats fine with me...i guess people just keep picking until that guy comes back? because that mirrors a real nfl draft most closely...one suggestion dunta...do you PM managers when they are on the clock? might help

ya I try and get 2 GM's in advance to say they are on the clock after the next selection etc...soo maybe it will speed up soon...some ppl cant make it and thats fine, thats why I asked them to send me a few guys in order that theyd want and a few guys have done that already, makes things run a lot smoother.

It would be more accurate and true to form if the Mod (thats you Dunta_23) make the pick for them. I believe you will do fine and if the GM misses his pick then thats what he/she gets, but the teams should not suffer for their indifference:twocents:

Truth be told thats one reason I traded up, to get equal value and not have to worry about checking in a dozen times a day for the next three weeks :)

:superman: If you look at a couple of mocks and get a feel of what they may need and get the next player at that position then the draft will stay fairly reasonable .

Thats not a bad idea either, but I guess its a penalty for not showing up on time for your pick to only have the choice of selecting who is left...

:ok: I guess its your objective . If its a simulation then you want to keep it as true as possible . If its just something to do then yes pass and go on .
