We joke about the JFF/Cowboys but it sets up EXACTLY like 2006 when the Texans had the first pick.

06: Local boy is wanted by fans, VY. Texans draft freakish athlete on defensive line, Mario. Bud Adams drafts VY to stick it in Houstons face

14: Local boy is wanted by fans, JFF. Texans draft freakish athlete on defensive line, Clowney. Jerruh draft JFF to stick it in Houstons face,

Deja Vu like a mother!

Jerruh is 10-times the owner than Adams was, plus he already has a top-10 QB. Jerruh may be a self-important meddler, but he cares about winning above anything else.

I doubt Jerry gives a crap about Houston fans. Probably more Cowboys fans here than Texans fans.

You guys are fools if you still bash the guy after that showing. That was extremely impressive, he did something very few, if any, QBs have ever done by throwing in pads at his pro day, his deep balls were phenomenal, he proved he has much better arm strength than most give him credit for (and better than both Bortles and Bridgewater), and then tack on the leadership abilities as well.

And the guys still mentioning his "character issues". Well where the hell are you on Jameis Winston's character issues? He flipping raped a chick! Or what about Clowney who coasted through this entire last year and ended up with a whopping 3 sacks?

Manziel at 1. Period.

You can repeat it all you want, but Manziel is twice the player VY was. He's smarter, has a stronger arm, is more accurate, has better pocket presence, better vision, is faster, and is shiftier. The only thing VY has on Manziel is size. You people are blinded by ignorance.

Jerruh will take every opportunity he can get to rub anything in Houstons face. remember the damn red checkerboard comments?

He is already openly enamored with Manziel and I would NOT put it past him

And he is a damn implosion waiting to happen just like VY.

Manziel's sister already sporting her free "Johnny Knows Football" Nike Gear.. !!

Whatever.

Was a good moment in this thread a few pages back, but now I see it's back to it's regular scheduled programming. Time to bow out.

Jerruh already has Romo. And he got Brandon Weeden. So if he drafts Manziel by some miracle trade, then he's gotta trade Romo and his ridiculous contract or else have two well-paid QBs on his roster. Seems a little bit of a stretch.

How is Manziel an implosion waiting to happen? Could you say the same thing about hundreds of NFL players?

They said the same thing back then to the VY/Michael Vick comparison.

Hype
Celebrity friends
Questionable work ethic
Fanatical followers

Seriously.

Longhorn homer just can't handle an Aggie with some skill.

You too are ignorant if you can watch today's showing and still say he has "questionable work ethic." Nearly every area scouts said he needed improvement on, he showed improvement. The one thing he did wrong was drop his arm a few times.

I really don't know what world it is you people live in.

Houston's weird sports inferiority complex pops up again...

So he gets a red flag for having hype, celebrity friends and fanatical followers? That's one of the stupidest things I've ever heard of. And show me one instance where he showed questionable work ethic.

Yes, I like Manziel. Yes, I am an Aggie. But you will also see I have not posted in this thread in months, because I wanted to see if Manziel was going to take the time to improve upon his deficiencies and stay out of trouble. He has done both of those things, and today was better than anyone expected.

Wake up, because there is a pretty damn good chance he is wearing Deep Steel Blue and Battle Red this coming season.

I've never seen Dallas fans with any real enmity towards Houston. My cousin is five, six years older than me and grew up in Austin is a dedicated Cowboys fan and doesn't mind cheering for the Texans. Unfortunately he's also a Horn fan... but you take the good with the bad, right?

Point is, I've only seen Dallas hate coming from Houston, never vice versa.

And Manziel is a rouge scholar? Please.

Its a damn pro day and you are ready to have children with him

By all accounts he's considered very intelligent. Out of the big three he is the only one that nailed his pro day. So yeh it's just a pro day but at least he performed at the high level he should of performed at. Bridgewater choked like a little *****.

Lots of bad QB's have had good pro days but rarely does a good QB have a bad one.

Well Chester Pitts bought what Manziel was selling! Going nuts about him on 610

Whatever dude. I was a VY zealot just like you're a JF zealot and the similiarities are stunning. I couldn't be reasoned with just like you can't be reasoned with.

Longhorns and Aggies don't factor into this at all for me. The war ended for me when A&M left the Big 12.

"Questionable work ethic" really points to how much into film the guy is. I haven't seen or heard anything yet that tells me he's a cerebral QB. The biggest ding on his work ethic IMO is when he walked out/was thrown out of the Manning Passing Academy.

I don't put a lot of stock in Pro Days anyway. They're set up to make it damn near impossible for the participants not to look good.

Yep, a person can be a Cowboys fan and a Texans fan. This isn't 1990s Gangsta Rap.

I guess you have never lived in dfw.

Well, when you put it that way, you sound much more reasonable :kitten:
Just yanking your chain man. I understand the reservations (I have several too) but as an Ag I find it hard not to enjoy today. Either way, that's not important: the million dollar question is how much did Bill O'Brien weigh this pro-day in his overall evaluation of Manziel, of course.

Cossell talked about this and his opinion Manziel is unwilling/unable to pick up the play designs.

I grew up there. Care to fill me in because his comment is spot on. It is a one way rivalry.

Hey guys, first time long time, thanks for taking my call...I'm curious since no one has surprisingly brought this up, what's the comparison in hype and/or as pro prospects between johnny and VY in 06? Love the show, and I'll hang up and listen.

So you're labeling him with poor work ethic because of a QB camp that meant nothing but you don't put stock into pro days? And you're labeling him with poor work ethic because you haven't heard he was a cerebral QB or that he doesn't watch film?

You should say these things out loud to hear how stupid they sound before you hit submit. You're making yourself look foolish.

Funny, I've heard garbage since the Texans inception. Considering half my family is still there and they represent part of the incessant stream, it's assuredly NOT one-way.

I'll give you 70/30 or so though.

All of my uncles and cousins on my mother's side live in the Dallas area and growing up all ever heard was their bs about the Cowboys. So, in my experience it came from them first.
