Manziel

You're not telling me anything I don't already know.

I am well aware of things people do in practice and training. I'm also aware that the patriots used it to get ready for Watt. I know that when Carr first got here they did something similar to try to help him throwing over the line.

OK, so how exactly would it turn into a clown show then with them doing that?

Also, Manziel will be throwing with a "rush" today -- he'll be chased with a broom by coach @georgewhitfield. 60-plus throws in the script.
A broom? Yikes!!!

After the Manziel dunk, Roger Goodell parachutes in and fines him $50k, which Jim Irsay replaces with money he just happened to have on him.

I'm interested to see Whitfield's broom versatility. Can he make an impact from the inside as well as the edge? Counter moves? Disruption?

Props to George Whitlock for incorporating stilts into John's volcano training.

Manziel measures 6'3 7/8" in helmet -- prototypical height.

His agent should have gotten one cheerleader from each team from the NFL like they do in the Pro Bowl game.

:kitten:

Manziel wearing camo, rap music now blaring over the loudspeakers as he walks out.

Manziel gathers media to tell them what he'll be doing.

Using an actual center and blocking dummies to simulate a line.

George Whitfield, JFF's QB guru, has big ol' Gary Kubiak play-calling menu a la Dennys.

Camera's haven't been showing Mike Evans in/out of cuts -- it's his pro day, too.

Broom is now chasing JFF... almost touched his belly button there.

7 man huddles excluding the center, runs some plays, re-huddle...

A second guy calling plays/talking to JFF and crew...

President and Barbara Bush look on from golf cart...

Mike Evans wearing a "Pro Day A&M" shirt...

The Broom gets an UDFA grade from me so far. No burst, no bend, overruns QB, too low...

Nice 50 yard-ish high tight spiral there...

First incomplete, over-throw too straight front leg...

Sammy Watkins I'd say is a step quicker out of cuts than Evans...

55 yard TD to Evans ends it. Manziel bows to Whitfield like Karate Kid/Miyagi.

Mike Mayock comes over to shake JFF's hand...

JFF chatting up President Bush now.

LOL...I want manziel....**** it...

Playing rap music...wearing Camo shorts at his pro day with all these teams there...Bush and his wife there....

And he's got Rick Ross and Drake playing...lol...This is awesome...

At first I thought people were crazy for making VY comparisons.

I don't anymore. Minus a single-digit Wonderlic score, history seems to be repeating itself.

does anyone have a link of manziel's pro day visible from europe?

I can't see the espn site: "not available in your region"

:(

I don't know. I'm looking at how he's throwing the ball.

Some throws look decidedly better than others, sure. He's looked good on the intermediate out route to the sideline, which is my staple pass when evaluating a QB. Passes have some zip to it, which is nice.

His Deep balls are nice.

Heh. Phrasing!

People keep talking about how this draft is not a good draft to have the number 1...

I couldn't disagree with that more.

Last year was a bad draft to have #1.

I would be really excited with about 4 of these guys and I'd be happy/good with a few others.

I think this is an excellent draft to have #1 because even if you trade back you're likely getting a good player. I don't see any of the higher end prospects who jump out as scrubs to me like in some other years.

McClain tweeted that just one ball hit the ground, though there was another which went out of bounds but the receiver caught it. I dunno, does McClain know that an OOB pass, whether caught or not, is an incomplete pass ?

That wasn't a good throw...Another on the ground on a crossing pattern...Thrown a bit behind and low...

His deep balls are money though...

But Manziel is much more intelligent and has already proven he can handle pressure and manage distractions and still perform.

Has he really? I'm seeing the same red flags from a character standpoint.

Besides, there's no way to tell if he can manage distractions until he's actually managed them. At this point, he hasn't proven anything that VY didn't as a prospect.

The soundtrack is a nice touch, reminds me of why I don't like going to basketball games.

Almost no one likes to go to our basketball games :kitten:

It's always old people and townies. Student attendance got so bad they allowed people with sports passes to swipe in a plus one.

VY was never challenged with distractions in college. Brown kept his team very insulated and let them get away with a lot. He was soft and a prima-donna coming out of college. When he finally faced serious adversity, he mentally melted down.

Yes Manziel has some character questions, but considering he kept his nose clean and became a vocal leader of the team after "autograph-gate" helps answer some of those questions.

Mark it down:

Jerruh trades up in this draft to get Manziel. Modern day Bud Adams move when we draft Clowney

His deep balls are money though...

He didn't hit the receivers in stride in many of his deeper throws from the pocket, but it wasn't anything to really complain about.

He looked good. Can def make all the throws. Good job Johnny.

real quick, seemed like scripted 10 sets within 6 throws each set. one drop on receiver, crossing route over middle should have been caught, the other to same receiver but to be fair low & away. sweaty, gritty, gamer with best leadership qualities in class. short throws concise, accurate w/quick release (imagine him throwing to Arian Foster out of the backfield) mid range spot on as well, can roll to his right or left & hit the out pattern. puts a lot of air under the ball on deep routes a thing of beauty & clearly his NFL calling card. good banter w/teammates, unquestioned leader. I'd give him a solid A

We joke about the JFF/Cowboys but it sets up EXACTLY like 2006 when the Texans had the first pick.

06: Local boy is wanted by fans, VY. Texans draft freakish athlete on defensive line, Mario. Bud Adams drafts VY to stick it in Houstons face

14: Local boy is wanted by fans, JFF. Texans draft freakish athlete on defensive line, Clowney. Jerruh draft JFF to stick it in Houstons face,

Deja Vu like a mother!

If JFF was three inches taller, he'd be the consensus No. 1 pick. Good showing for him.

So, I guess i am hoping for JF, Bridgewater, or Clowney in this draft.

What red flags? Seriously?
