"It would be the worst decision they've (the Texans) ever made," he told The Houston Chronicle of the possibility. "I'd be in the same division playing against them twice a year. Sorry, but you just turned that chip on my shoulder from a Frito into a Dorito."

Jesus, this kid is not just full of crap, he's seriously in need of professional help as he's clearly got a bad case of delusions of grandeur. I dunno but didn't another Texas native, Vince Young, make the same kind of outlandish boasts/threats when he was coming out of college because I'm getting a deja vu kinda vibe
with Manziel's horsecrap.

I'm still all for Bridgewater #1, but the Aggie in me is pushing hard for the kid from Aggieland.

"People can call me crazy, and it's not cockiness (but), I'm going to put myself in (position) to win the Super Bowl every single year. A 5-10 guy (Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson) just won the Super Bowl in his second year in the NFL," he said. "That's unreal. I want to be the first rookie to win the Super Bowl."

"If something happens, and it's the Cleveland Browns, I'm going to pour my heart out for the Dawg Pound and try to win a Super Bowl for Cleveland," he said. "I don't care if they've had 20 starting quarterbacks since 1999. I'm going to be the 21st and the guy that brought them the Super Bowl."

» Manziel's preparation for the combine includes film study with Kevin O'Connell, who was a New England Patriots backup quarterback when Texans coach Bill O'Brien was an assistant there under Bill Belichick. O'Connell is helping Manziel learn O'Brien's likes and dislikes about offensive football, and he can't wait to talk to O'Brien about it next week in Indianapolis.

I like that last part the most. You have to swing for the fences with this #1 pick and go with the guy with the highest upside. Trust the game film and trust his competition. The guy is a playmaker. Something our storied quarterback history has never had. Look at the throws that he makes.

Havent texan fans had enough of the prototypical QBs?

Remember the most important criteria for quarterback greatness we talked about?

Does he have a great name?

-It cant get any better than Johnny football.

Is he good looking enough?

-If he is good looking, he is confident. If he is confident he gets the girl hence guys want to follow him. Cant you just feel his confidence when you read his quotes even about going to cleveland?

That's the type of swagger Manziel comes with and its infectious in the locker room. Complete opposite of Schaub's muted catatonic magnificence.

This is who Johnny Football comes homes to:

Check mate.

You think teddy bridgewater and his crossdressing self can pull that?

Draft the spectacular player who knows how to score (remember that problem we had with scoring??????) and lets win some games and look good doing it.

Not saying you're wrong for your opinion, but I look at this from a COMPLETELY different angle. What makes him full of crap? This is the same thing that many guys say except they normally say it after the draft. MJD has talked about being slighted by the other 31 teams his whole career.

seriously, who do you want to follow?

a guy who does this:

or a guy who does this:

Dont say i didnt warn you about the cross dresser.

I think the most confidence you can show is stepping out in heels and walking tall even though you know you don't look good.

suicide bombers also have a lot of confidence.

The fact that suicide bombing and cross dressing is not good yet they still do it is a problem.

BTW, im pro gay rights.

Im just not pro having a franchise quarterback as a cross dresser.

He's alternately boasting about how terrific he is, then threatening the Texans brass if they pass on him with their top pick in the Draft. Hey, the kid has got a mouth that overloads his skinny little azz and he's sounding more and more like a jerk, which no coach wants on his team. He should just show up at the Combine and work out, then do the same at his Pro day, and keep his mouth shut unless he's asked a question by a prospective NFL employer.

I guess this is an example of 2 people reading the same quotes and feeling completely different about what we just read. But fair enough though.

I think this only reinforces everybody's starting position. Those who already loved him will love it. Those who hate him will hate it. Those who haven't made up their mind will be uncertain about it.

True.

He could wear a pink dress and high heels for all I care as long as he produces and wins games.

My brain is still leaning towards Teddy but I admit I would be super excited if they call JFF's name on draft day. He's the sexier pick imo.

It's confidence but I'm not sure it doesn't take it too far into "annoyance."

I like the attitude but he'll need to become a bit more understated once he enters the league.

I'm just not certain I want the circus to come to town.

Not sure if sarcasm, but you do know that Teddy did this for Halloween, right? It's not like he's Oscar De La Hoya...

I'm not homophobic, but I've never had the desire to dress in women's clothes under any circumstance. Maybe he lost a bet or something, but I don't even think I'd bet if it meant me dressing like that if I lost.

For the record, my best buddy (high school valedictorian) lost a bet with his girl and had to put on one of her dresses at a party.

While he might have lost a little dignity, I had to give him props for having the guts to do it.

I'm a Clowney guy,

One thing is for sure, Manziel doesn't lack for confidence. I like the fact that he's doing his homework for the combine.

“me growing up as a cowboys fan--i was born at halftime of a cowboys game--that would almost be a folktale in the correct direction. We'd have to call that johnny something else. I don't know what it would be."

guy's full of crap!!! Insert any teams name and he will say how he desperately wants to get picked by them

He may be an self centered jack a$$, but if we draft him, he'll be our arrogant SOB and I'll love him for it.

And if he is a Jag (or any other teams) , I'll 'hate' his guts.

guy's full of crap!!! Insert any teams name and he will say how he desperately wants to get picked by them

Him growing up as a cowboys fans doesn't remotely have anything to do with what he said. As a Houston fan and a fan of sports teams in this city, I really wish this city would overcome the inferiority complex they have with Dallas..seriously, it's unbecoming.

I had the misfortune of living in that city for a couple of years and I learned this make believe rivalry between the cities is completely one sided. People in Dallas don't even know about it or talk about it.

I'm not even a Manziel fan, but I still don't understand the criticism of his statement for wanting to play in state and be the #1 ovrl choice. Being a Cowboys fan doesn't mean anything.. He wasn't a Agg fan either growing up.. Mack's dumbass just thought he wasn't good enough to compete at QB :toropalm:

That cocky bravado is...

Brian Bosworth did the same. So did every other player who decided he was "snubbed" -- the latest being Richard Sherman. It's marketing. Fluff. :listening Didn't resolve any of his limitations or change one play of what he put on tape.

Sorry, but can you substantiate why you believe suicide bombers have a lot of confidence?

The difference is a lot of guys who feel slighted don't put in the work to show that they're worthy of being on a different level. Sherman proved it. MJD proved. Jerry Rice proved it. Manziel kind of proved it his second year. Its still a question whether or not he'll prove it in the league. I don't know if Manziel is going to be a huge success in the NFL. I like his confidence though.

He didn't put anyone else down while making his comments. Just simply stated he feels like he'll be the best pick for the team, and if they choose someone else then he'll show why it was a mistake. I honestly don't see the big deal.

LOL if he becomes the new Peyton Manning of the AFC South and just owns the Texans game after game, year after year. Not saying they are the same type of players or that this will happen.......But if it does......LOL at Texan's curse:bender:

yep. that is GROSS.:kubepalm:

Manziel has some cojones! I wonder if all the Manziel haters are Longhorn fans:bender:

If Bridgwater or Bortles would have given that exact same interview it would have been received totally different. Anything Manziel does or says will always be spun negative by his haters.

Honestly, I think this interview just did a lot for Manziel's case for us selecting him at 1.1. I am sure his agent advised him to come out and say something like this, because now he is making it known that he wants to play for us, and I like that a lot. Obviously everyone wants to be the #1 pick, but I think for Johnny it is more specific to this team than the others.

The most interesting part about this interview for me was:

» Manziel's preparation for the combine includes film study with Kevin O'Connell, who was a New England Patriots backup quarterback when Texans coach Bill O'Brien was an assistant there under Bill Belichick. O'Connell is helping Manziel learn O'Brien's likes and dislikes about offensive football, and he can't wait to talk to O'Brien about it next week in Indianapolis.

"In Indianapolis, I want to be able to sit there and him draw a play on the board and be like, 'Coach, that was your third-and-12 play from the Super Bowl," Manziel said. "You called that on the right hash from the 42-yard line driving in to score to win the game.' I want to blow his lid off when I'm in that situation."

In my mind it will mean a lot to O'Brien if Manziel comes in and blows him away on the chalkboard. Really shows he has the drive to play in Houston and will come in and learn whatever is put before him.

yep. that is GROSS.:kubepalm:

I don't like the longhorns and I like manziel as a player. I'm just concerned about his dedication to his profession just as I am about clowney. I wouldn't consider any other prospect worthy of being first overall so I'd like to see a trade down if the texans are not convinced about these two.

Sure is easy to knock down imaginary enemies.

Honestly, I think this interview just did a lot for Manziel's case for us selecting him at 1.1.

I think the training portion was a positive and the daring portion was unwise but will be insignificant.

Lord Bills is not a representative of Texas A&M University or any Aggies anywhere. Just saying. Gotta put it out there.

Lord Bills is an Indy fan who comes here to chuck grenades around.

I'd like to think that Manziel is worthy of the 1-1 pick, I think he would be great for the city similar to Earl for the Oilers. But looking at the highlight clips, I just don't see the skills which will translate to the NFL. I might would risk a #2 on him, but not 1-1. If anyone has links to him standing in the pocket and finding his receiver downfield, I'd like to see his mechanics in this situation.

“It would be the worst decision they’ve ever made,” Manziel said, while talking to reporters from the Houston Chronicle and Fort-Worth Star Telegram. “I’d be in the same division playing against them twice a year. Sorry, but you just turned that chip on my shoulder from a Frito into a Dorito."

Two key qualities you look for in a leader is maturity and good decision making. Manziel demonstrated neither with this interview.

He did nothing of the sort, but if it makes you feel better, you stick with your interpretation.

Peyton Manning basically told the Dolts the same thing before that draft .... If you don't pick me , I'm gonna kick your ass for the next decade!

Is this the, "Let's tear down the other guy" strategy of making our guy look good?

I don't quite follow. Who are you referring to as our guy?

Looks like I touched a nerve.

Manziel had nothing to gain by daring the Texans, and took an unnecessary risk towards turning them off. That indicates poor decision making to the evaluators. Is Bill O'Brien, the guy known for chewing out Tom Brady, going to be impressed by a rhyming Frito idiom from a 21 year old kid? What about Rick Smith, who expressed disinterest in "bringing the circus to town" when Favre was available? What inroads did Dunte Robinson make by daring Rick Smith? Sure, different situations, but Manziel doesn't know that. It comes back to decision making.

The Texans are currently a team of veterans in need of a new on-field leader, and a 21 year old candidate needs to demonstrate he has the maturity to command their respect. At this phase of the evaluation, if he indicates uncertainty in that quality, there are two other QB candidates who will step up to prove it.

Peyton is an immature brat as well Corrosion. Like someone else said, Manziel is going to rub people the wrong way with anything he does or says because they don't like him. Nevermind that he turned down $500,000 during Super Bowl weekend to train or kept his commitment to a sick kid he's befriended when he could have easily made up excuses not to be there for him. Those things don't fit the Manziel is a cocky jerk narrative.

The younger Manning showed far more immaturity in how he handled his draft situation, and you've already made note of the older Manning saying basically the same thing.

Yup, you're right. Anyone who even entertains the idea of a discussion of anything related to Manziel having even the remotest pittance of a chance of being considered less than perfection is clearly a hater.

I get the sarcasm, but I'm not in that group that believes Manziel should be free from criticism. But there are plenty of people who just don't like the guy. I have plenty of friends who don't and watching A&M games with them was hilarious. They will never have good things to say about that guy even if he saved a group of nuns from a burning bus. It is what it is, but I haven't accused anyone on this board of being that way.

But I love how people throw the word hater around. I haven't used that word in years. Makes me laugh every time I hear it.
