While they're cool and funny, I don't get the doctor who memes. Heck, I'm amazed us/tx people even know doctor who.

I've been watching Dr Who since I was a kid, and that was a long time ago. Now my kids are even bigger fans, especially my daughter.
Rule of cool.
And we aren't all US/TX people either.
The Combine is quickly approaching, but so are Pro Days. Less than a month until Texas A&M's.
Just think how long this thread would be if we were discussing who the "Best Doctor" was? I vote Baker.Let's call him my Blake Bortles pick.
Manziel for Smith.
Tennant for Bridgewater.
Eccleston for Clowney.
I don't know what any of this means...

Of course, for me, Dr. Who will always be:

Kiwi, I noticed your avatar. Did you switch alliances or is that mock draft-related?
Yep.Was he the fourth Doctor?
I really like Manziel's upside. He reminds me of a Steve Young type. I think he is a quite capable and accurate passer. He can be electric on the next level. Saying all that I don't think you can take him 1.1 because of the injury concerns. He is going to take hits consistently. I don't think you can tell him to sit in the pocket because that would take away a lot of what makes him special. Obviously he'll have to dial it down some, but how much can you ask him to keep it safe?
With the injury concern its not so much the explosive major injuries, its the nagging repetitive ones. Over the last two college seasons he started to accumulate injuries as the season went on, which clearly affected his play in November. You could see how much better he played in the bowl games when he was given to heal. When you extrapolate over 16 games with larger bodies, it projects to a serious injury risk going forward. People will say he didn't miss any collegiate games which is 100% true, but it was clear his play was affected as the season went on, I think this is a preview of things to come. You can envision a guy who will miss a lot of practices and always be a game time decision from week to week especially in the 2nd half of the season. I don't think you can draft a guy like that 1.1.
Like I said I really like Manziel's game and think he has a high ceiling in terms of ability to take over games and make big plays. But I think his ability to stay on the field will significantly stunt his production and his career going forward.

Johnny Manziel won't throw at Ags pro day march 5. He will throw on March 27 at A&M.
Why? Injured? Being a show pony?
more time to prepare.

Non-story and not unusual whatsoever...but knowing TT this will be a 10 page discussion on the underlying meaning of Manziel not throwing at A&M pro day.
Texas A&M QB Johnny Manziel will not throw at the school's March 5 pro day, instead he will have a personal throwing day on campus on March 27.
This is not a unique situation, as many quarterback prospects have done, and will likely continue to do, the same thing. Manziel likely wants to take more time to plan his passing tree and become comfortable with it. Manziel has not said if he will throw at the NFL Combine.
Plenty of top quarterback prospects opt to have a personal throwing day in order to showcase their skills instead of participating in the team’s pro day
What 'Johnny Football' is doing isn't anything too out of the ordinary however.
A lot of quarterbacks choose not to throw in front of the scouts at their pro day or the combine.
Again, it is a non issue but since it is Manziel the speculation will run wild with things such as "Well maybe him and Drake are planning on getting drunk that day so he changed it"

Great. That makes him AND Clowney getting hit by a truck.![]()
Prepare for what?
If he can't turn up on any given day and hit receivers why are we considering drafting him?
If this is not unusual, can you let us know of other recent QBs who haven't thrown at their own school's pro day.
Just curious.

Overall
One of the most polarizing prospects in recent memory, Johnny Manziel will generate headlines wherever he lands at the next level. His most ardent supporters believe that he will take the NFL by storm, much like he did college footballs Southeastern Conference the past two seasons. Many, on the other hand, believe his reckless nature both on and off the field make him a less than ideal candidate to be an NFL franchise quarterback. While he will never be a 6-foot 4-inch pocket passer, Manziels rare mobility and knack for making plays forces defenses to cover the entire field. The upside to drafting him seems remarkable, but I imagine several general managers and coaches would not touch him with a ten-foot pole. Whether or not he lands in a favorable situation, it should be an exciting journey for him and the fans of his team.

That should settle it right there. Never in the history of NCAAF (that I know of) has a player been named the MVP of not one, but two, Bowl Games in the same year.
Kid's special I tell ya... special.

So apparently the Texans started following Manziel on twitter today........ Breaking news! Texans set to take Johnny with the first pick!!!! Doesn't get more official than that.
"Bad boy" Johnny Manziel's halo was in full view Tuesday night when the former Texas A&M quarterback flew in from training in San Diego to run a Houston catwalk that traversed a gauntlet of social swells on behalf of a young cancer survivor. Unlike on the gridiron, Johnny Football's 20-yard dash through Tootsies with 6-year-old Aggies fan Charlie Dina had no defensive line to deal with, but rather a clutch of adoring, cheering fans with camera phones popping.
Front row and center was Houston Texans vice chairman and chief operating officer Cal McNair, who high-fived Manziel as he walked the runway. Houston Texans general manager Rick Smith and wife Tiffany were among the couples featured in the Valentine Day's-themed fundraiser. But making sure that there were no false messages sent, especially to those rooting for Manziel to be the Texans choice for the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft, McNair was careful not be photographed with the 2012 Heisman Trophy winner.

Make of it what you will.
This kid is starting to grow on me

» Manziel will be asked plenty about his maturity, reputation as a partier, and off-field decisions by NFL clubs at the NFL Scouting Combine next week. He'll be well-coached for all of it, but was candid about those subjects with reporters who visited his San Diego training site as well.
"I was a kid who made some goofball decisions. That's been part of my journey. Maybe it's part of the whole Johnny Football deal that I'm trying to get away from," Manziel said. "I'm trying to show people I've grown up, and I've learned from my experiences. I feel like you're a stupid person if you continue to make the same wrong decisions. I don't want to hear, 'Oh, anybody in his situation would have been doing the same thing.' I'm 100 percent responsible for my actions."
» The era of NFL rookie quarterbacks apprenticing on a bench for a year or two is disappearing quickly, especially for those drafted in the first round. If Manziel reaches his rookie-year goal, that notion could be buried for good:
"People can call me crazy, and it's not cockiness (but), I'm going to put myself in (position) to win the Super Bowl every single year. A 5-10 guy (Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson) just won the Super Bowl in his second year in the NFL," he said. "That's unreal. I want to be the first rookie to win the Super Bowl."
» Nobody can say Manziel doesn't know his Cleveland Browns history. The club has the No. 4 overall pick, but has historically had plenty of turnover at the quarterback position, and Manziel would love to try to end it if he ends up in Cleveland.
"If something happens, and it's the Cleveland Browns, I'm going to pour my heart out for the Dawg Pound and try to win a Super Bowl for Cleveland," he said. "I don't care if they've had 20 starting quarterbacks since 1999. I'm going to be the 21st and the guy that brought them the Super Bowl."
» Manziel's preparation for the combine includes film study with Kevin O'Connell, who was a New England Patriots backup quarterback when Texans coach Bill O'Brien was an assistant there under Bill Belichick. O'Connell is helping Manziel learn O'Brien's likes and dislikes about offensive football, and he can't wait to talk to O'Brien about it next week in Indianapolis.
"In Indianapolis, I want to be able to sit there and him draw a play on the board and be like, 'Coach, that was your third-and-12 play from the Super Bowl," Manziel said. "You called that on the right hash from the 42-yard line driving in to score to win the game.' I want to blow his lid off when I'm in that situation."
