Seems like the Browns were going thru coaches at a pretty good pace a year or two ago.How many teams have had 4 HCs in 4 years?

Stingley and Metchie are both "potentially" great picks. We'll have to wait and see on both those two.

I thought Culley did a decent job when all was said and done and he deserved at least this last season to see what he could accomplish. Also, I don't think Tim Kelly's offense was any worse than what we saw from Pep. If anything I think at the end of last season our offense and Davis Mills were better than they were at the end of this season.Should have never gotten rid of Culley if you wanted some worthless bridge coach.

I'll blame Caserio for the teams sorry coaching hires as soon as he is allowed by management to hire the coach.

I love it when My TEXANS are making history
Disagree, talent has been added and from the beginning I said it would be 2 yrs before the HC that shared Caserio's vision would be hired. That timeline has been spot on, even though Culley not going along with firing Kelly made things appear to be messier than they really are.The inherited mess has only gotten messier.

Somebody needs to point out that these racists kept an inept minority GM around for 12 yrs.Now a bunch of people seem to be jumping on the "Texans are racist for hiring/firing black coaches" bandwagon. Dungy is crying about it and now RGIII thinks it was wrong. To me everyone involved is smaller for this BS. I've been watching teams fire coaches for decades and we saw three teams just in the last decade (including the Texans now) go through a coach-per-year. NFL coaches are all subject to the Bum Phillips "Them that's been fired and them that's gonna be fired" rule. When it becomes racist to fire a coach who wins 3 or 4 games in a season then that's a bunch of damn crap in my eyes. Coaching is like a profession where you sign up to be a scapegoat and almost all of them fail to one degree or another.
RGIII and Dungy acting like this is somehow worse because the coaches are black look like crybabies. These are grown men who were paid millions of dollars not purse-puppies who need to be coddled. If the Texans can't get another HC candidate to come in because of this that's their problem. Somehow the other teams who flipped coaches twice quickly managed to keep bringing in candidates and even seemed to get better eventually.

Imagine how much fun you could be having if you hadn't lost your way and ended up defending and making excuses for a Bill O'Brien and Jack Easterby recommendation and hire.Disagree, talent has been added and from the beginning I said it would be 2 yrs before the HC that shared Caserio's vision would be hired. If Gannon is the next HC, know that it's a Caserio hire.I also love it when you can literally see the way this is going to go. Cal keeps Caserio and we stay in the dark about who really did make these decisions forever.... or Cal fires Caserio and we get the "I fired him because he hired two coaches who didn't work out" vs. "He fired me but I didn't even get to pick the coaching hires or draft the playe..... Did they work out? Oh OK then those are my guys!"
The "He said-He said is" going to be a lot of fun to watch when this finally goes down.
I'm having fun anyways. Life is short.Imagine how much fun you could be having if you hadn't lost your way and ended up defending and making excuses for a Bill O'Brien and Jack Easterby recommendation and hire.
The Metchie trade-up is a lot like the Collins trade-up. For Collins they gave up a lot to move up for a #3 WR. Metchie might be a #2 WR.Metchie is never going to amount to a hill of beans IMHO. I'd be shocked if he ever lived up to his draft position + the picks given up (for no &$#@@! reason) to draft a guy that was a slot receiver. It didn't make sense then, and it doesn't make sense now. That's not the only reason by far that I wanted Nick gone. It's one of a LOT of reasons why Nick should have been kicked to the curb with Lovie...including the final ignominy (like my fancy word?) yesterday. The final FU by Lovie was also on Nick. Nick was the publisher of that book, Lovie the Author. Both should have been sent packing.
If Cal is going to keep Nick as it appears, Nick needs to hit a grand slam on the coaching hire and in the draft. Full stop. I was and still am and will be on the fire Nick train until Nick pulls his head out of his ass and actually becomes a decent GM. So far, he gets a D letter grade from me.
Sorry.I'm having fun anyways. Life is short.
I just found out today that my long time dentist has stage 4 cancer.
Who the hell is this clown?
This is hot garbage.
When I read Caserio was staying and getting a third chance to screw up the HC hire in a row I quit caring again in the blink of an eye. I’m not unreasonable about this. I understand Cal is the owner and he’s not going anywhere. I just don’t get letting this guy (Caserio) continue to guide this mess as it gets worse every year he’s here. This needed to be a clean-house moment and instead it’s just rinse and repeat.
I can't believe anyone wants to give him a shot at hiring a 3rd HC .....
How many GM's get to hire a 3rd coach in a decade much less a span of 3 years.
Lol, Stephen A is a little inconsistent in his racism accusations.Ahhhh Stephen A Smith. Condemning the Texans for being a place where African Americans shouldn’t work, but gave Jerry Jones a pass for attending a segregation rally.
What part is garbage?
Gannon having mutual interest?
Gannon bringing in Reich and Zimmer?
No interest in DeMeco?
If they want Gannon. Why not hire him last year? idk man
They tried too. Was thiiiiiiiiis close too. Nick wouldn’t let him hire his own coordinators and Gannon said nah im good.
It's impossible to gauge any "mutual interest" when they haven't spoken to any of the above.
It's a shame how many are sucking this up.It's impossible to gauge any "mutual interest" when they haven't spoken to any of the above.
Appreciate it.
What if Cal hires Gannon? If Gannon is the next HC, know that it's a Caserio hire.
Would you let the fry cook take a 3 piece, biscuit and mashed taters On the house as he exits? If I were hired to manage the local Pollos Hermanos & Gus told me to fire the fry cook, I’m going to fire the fry cook, “dude, Gus said get your sht & go. I tried to stick up for you, but he said it’s either you or me & you. So, it’s you.”
Ultimately every hire is a Cal hire. What if Cal hires Gannon?
My sources told me he locked himself in his bathroom and is updating his resume.Somebody fire the GM, quick!
If Gannon is the next HC, know that it's a Caserio hire.
Ultimately every hire is a Cal hire.
I really don’t think the Culley hire should be should be on Caserio.Dysfunctional franchises do dysfunctional things.
This franchise is utter garbage run by owners that have the football acumen of circus clowns.
This city deserves better football franchises, but deserves got nothing to do with it.
Nor should Lovie. We've spent two years clearing out the deadwood and the previous mess. Cooks will be the final piece to be gotten rid of. Caserio has put in place the beginning of a longterm rebuild with last year's draft; a foundation to now be built on. The Texans now have to put in place the final foundation piece, and that will be the new coaching staff. Caserio will be given at least three years of the last four of his contract to make good on this rebuild.I really don’t think the Culley hire should be should be on Caserio.
I doubt the McNairs knew anything about Culley or even heard of some WR coach who has never been a coordinator or even mentioned as a HC. So, if that's the case, who would have added Culley to the candidate list? Who brought Culley to the McNairs? That is the question.I really don’t think the Culley hire should be should be on Caserio.
Wait! What? Why? Cal did not have a clue who David Culley was until Nick and Jack paraded the name in front of Cal. Boy, you Caserio apologists are something else. The Kool-Aid is potent today.I really don’t think the Culley hire should be should be on Caserio.
Do you seriously think they were competing with all the Watson shenanigans going on? Who was coming here?Wait! What? Why? Cal did not have a clue who David Culley was until Nick and Jack paraded the name in front of Cal. Boy, you Caserio apologists are something else. The Kool-Aid is potent today.
Please enlighten me. Who was coming here with a QB in legal controversy?
Well our new QB coach, OC and maybe new HC will train up our shiny new QB.Stroud’s season had too many low spots, in-game, for me to get ultra excited about his t-shirt and undie performance.
But according to an angry Michael Irvin on the Al Sharpton, uh I mean the Stephen A. Smith Show, players never try to lose a game no matter what.Who is this clown? John Breech? What a moron!
- Winner: Lovie Smith. It might seem odd that I have Lovie listed as a winner considering he just got fired, but he gets to leave a dysfunctional organization and he ended his career in Houston with a wild win that guaranteed the Texans won't be getting the No. 1 overall pick. Any time you can screw someone over who's about to fire you, you have to do it.
