Texans' Brian Cushing out four to six weeks with Grade 2 sprained MCL
Sorry Doc. Didn't see it.
Is that 4-6 weeks realistic in your estimation Doc? I mean even if it's more like 6-8 weeks do you think he'll be able to contribute following that? I'm really thinking this is Cushing's last campaign here so if he could come back for the home stretch and help us, maybe get to play in the playoffs I'd say that's as close to a happy ending as the Texans/Cushing experience will get.
If he requires 6 weeks of no practice, he would probably best test the adequacy of his rehab with an additional 2 weeks for progressive practice before being thrown back into the mix. After the Bye would be ideal, but my guess is he will be hurried back to play before the Bye week.Sorry Doc. Didn't see it.
If he is out 6 weeks of no practice, does it mean his return should be after the week 9 Bye?
Well I certainly hope the trainers and coaches decide to keep him out until after the Bye.If he requires 6 weeks of no practice, he would probably best test the adequacy of his rehab with an additional 2 weeks for progressive practice before being thrown back into the mix. The last sentence in my previous post is where I believe lies Cushing's best case scenario. If he's brought back too soon, a setback would not be unexpected.

Head coach Bill O'Brien said ILB Brian Cushing has a sprained MCL. He said he will be fine and will be back "sooner rather than later."

Bill O'Brien on Brian Cushing: 'It's a sprained MCL. I think he'll be fine. He won't be in there for a bit.'

His performance indeed seemed substandard (for him) but he didn't seem to reinjure. He got to the QB twice near the end. JJ always gets winded and breathes heavily as the game wears on, because he works so hard. That isn't a concern. But the possibility of a delayed setback that you raise is unsettling.Re-injury to repaired structures would be expected to be most evident with strain of muscles.......abdominal and/or back. His performance was significantly compromised today, so it would be difficult to detect unless severe. Last year, the Texans made the fan base believe that his compromised performance was due to his club hand..............while he was actually dealing with disk and bilateral sports hernia tears.........until the end, when it was so severe,he could no longer function. For sure, he was easily pushed around, taken to ground and if you watched when he tried to raise his hand and arch his back to try to slap the ball, he could not fully extend his arm up in the air nor totally arch his back. These are more strains that become noticeable in the 24-48 hours following trauma (the same time frame before many injuries are even appreciated_. No matter what, it is evident that he was winded off and on and was not ready (muscle strength and range of motion) in any way to return to full game trauma this soon.

The Texans have waived fullback Soma Vainuku from injured reserve.
No update, but he did not look the same when he came back after he limped off the field.Cloak was there any update on Clowney? I guess he's fine?
This morning I woke up and had to decide what Texans jersey to wear to work. I usually try to go with the correct home/away colors so that meant an away jersey. I have three (all cheap Chinese knockoffs). Decisions, decisions....
My WATT/#99 is starting to get a little worn out. A little frayed around the edges.
My FOSTER/#23 is "retired". Not with the team anymore and it's not like he's AJ. I'll wear an AJ jersey without hesitation.
Then I looked at my CUSHING/#56. For a few weeks my left knee has been killing me. I'm not sure what I did to it but it totally sucks. On the sides it hurts and behind the knee at the top of the calf it aches like crazy.
I thought "Obviously I'm supposed to wear #56 today. I even got the knee injury!" and there we are.
So I'm listing myself as "Probable" for tonight's game.

The away jerseys are blue right? We're going to be wearing White tonight... (can we say White?)
The one that isn't blue or red.
The home team picks light or dark and away has to take the other.
So to be clear, the choice is not home or away uniform, it is light or dark (made by the home team). And they won't always pick their "preferred" jersey. Pittsburgh prefers black. They would pick light to make the Cowboys play in their dark/blue jerseys.
One little piece at a time this ain't my old NFL anymore I guess.

No. the Texans usually wear blue at home.Gotcha.
The Texans have chosen the light color for their "default" home games, correct?

Sorry I can't embed tweets but this is from Ben Volin (writer for the Globe) from last night. Definitely concerning.

How long have I been trying to point out that his grossly premature return was inadvisable, ego-driven and likely ultimately to not end well?
Yes I do remember white early in the season but they haven't done that since at least 2006, maybe before, like after the Pittsburgh game. Since then they wear white at home for the opener. That's it. Red on red day and blue the rest of the time.Eventually they closed the roof after killing around 3,000 fans of heat stroke but they still tend to wear white at home early in the season. It takes the form of the annual season opening "Liberty White" game.
Just a reminder, this is an injury thread...

Is it too late if he sits down now?How long have I been trying to point out that his grossly premature return was inadvisable, ego-driven and likely ultimately to not end well?
That's difficult to tell. But that is probably essentially a moot point in that the same ill-advised ego-driven decision to return so early will be the driving force to continue play. The longer he plays having poor control of his core, the more the chance for a significant compensatory injury. Unfortunately, my guess is that. like last year, there is a good chance that Watt plays until something happens where he's no longer able to walk. I hope I'm wrong. Is it too late if he sits down now?
I can see Watt in an Earl Campbell post football wheel chair included. That's difficult to tell. It would be unusual if you were wrong. Then we should trade him ASAP, right? I was sneered at before TC for suggesting we trade him for Goff. That's difficult to tell.
