It's easy to generalize like you did, if you're not willing to look in particular at Mark's recent history.while this may be true then the entire league must be damned.

Blocking in a power scheme in college, then going to the NFL with the 2024 ZBS (remember Fisher looked better after being in it. Mason falling apart.) then changing to the Gap and only a few practices under his belt...I thought that it could be but in college I don't think Notre Dame ran a bunch of zone. What I saw says they were a spread/power running team.
That's a heck of a lot of assets to make up for a RB inadequacies.........and it also probably telegraphs the type of play for the defense might expect. You know, a two back backfield with Marks paired with a FB, and a TE and two wideouts, might really be effective. I'd utilize the FB as a runner, as well as a blocker.
None of our TEs have proven to be good reliable blockers.Yes, especially with Cade Stover looking so good.

Let's see: a pass to one of two wideouts, a pass to the TE, a pass to the RB, Marks through an interior gap, Marks outside run, FB up the middle and finally, maybe a pass to the FB in the flat. This formation is really versatile. That's a heck of a lot of assets to make up for a RB inadequacies.........and it also probably telegraphs the type of play for the defense might expect.
Should have clarified that I want our tight ends to be used to their strength which is catching. If we want to use a tight end to block then we should have drafted one who can.None of our TEs have proven to be good reliable blockers.
If it is hard on Nick, you can imagine what it is on new Blake Fisher.Which is something else that makes Nick's job a bit harder.
Since he's been GM there have been 3(?) different OC's?
In theory. We've had those combinations on the field in past years without much success. Also, changing to a more complicated modified Erhardt-Perkins offensive system, the offense even in simple plays will be complicated enough for the players to adapt to. There is a very heavy responsibility for each players to run their required plays in a perfectly choreographed fashion. One player's misstep in this system can entirely destroy a play. Having too many options, especially with a team trying to learn this new scheme can be very overwhelming, especially on the QB.Let's see: a pass to one of two wideouts, a pass to the TE, a pass to the RB, Marks through an interior gap, Marks outside run, FB up the middle and finally, maybe a pass to the FB in the flat. I posted several RB smaller than him who lasted a long time in this game. They were 3 down backs as well. WM is over 200 lbs as well. This is his first year in the pros, therefore he has plenty of time to get his weight up a bit.I did address his size and still think no 200 lb running back is going to hold up against defensive linemen and linebackers. I think that's one of the reasons we have a fullback on the roster. It will be interesting to see how many snaps that Stroud has with an empty backfield near him.
Thanks. CJ could have easily stepped up into that pocket.
Was that Mertz or Mills? I’m guessing Mills.
I've been following his posts and incredible detail on injuries. I didn't mean to contradict or question him, if it came off that way my apologies! Not sure if you are aware but @CloakNNNdagger is a renowned surgeon. He has contacts all over including the NFL teams. For years, he has provided very accurate, inside information on the health of NFL players as well as college players..
It did not come off in a negative way. I just wanted to give you input on one of our long-time knowledgeable contributors. Texans Get Reality Check About OL Situation
Robinson is part of a significant investment effort by the Texans into their offensive line this offseason. Losing him meant moving players around.
“When Robinson left practice, his absence triggered a line shuffle,” Wilson wrote. “The Texans moved rookie right tackle Aireontae Ersery to left tackle and right guard Tytus Howard to right tackle as Juice Scruggs stepped in for Howard at right guard while Ed Ingram worked in behind him.”
That did not go well, with Houston Chronicle’s Jonathan M. Alexander noting the issues.
“Robinson’s injury showed that the Texans have a long way to go when it comes to figuring out their starting five as well as their contingency plans in case there is an injury,” Alexander wrote on August 4. “There wasn’t much success with either lineup. In fact, it just further complicated the chemistry the first-team offensive line was building as four of their lineman had become constants in the starting lineup.”
Losing a starting left tackle would disrupt any team, but Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud absorbed 52 sacks last season. As he heads towards extension eligibility and a potentially historic deal, the Texans must keep him upright.
That means they need players like Robinson to remain on the field, so the Texans are surely waiting with bated breath for more information.

Supposedly Stover has really improved in this area.None of our TEs have proven to be good reliable blockers.
Yeah, so you would think Fisher would be doing better in Caley Popovixh schemeI thought that it could be but in college I don't think Notre Dame ran a bunch of zone. What I saw says they were a spread/power running team.

"RETIRE" !Maybe there is something with Fisher we don’t know about. Not injury but something deeper. A family issue for example. Or it could be that he is just not all about ball as they say. His heart may not be in it. If so, he needs to level with the Texans and retire.
Yet that would be a bold statement since OTAs and TC so far has not really been able to test blocking in significant contact scenario. Let's see how he fares in live preseason game contact before we re-assess his blocking acumen.Supposedly Stover has really improved in this area.
Wow, I don’t care how injured, washed up or slow people are saying he is. I wouldn’t put my ass in front of that guy in an open field.
3 days and counting. Then we shall see what's what and what's not.
I hate to make you grumpy (or grumpier) this far before game day. But don't expect to see much more than backups vs backups.3 days and counting. Then we shall see what's what and what's not.
