I really have never understood going for it in this type of situation. When you have the lead and the 4th quarter just started, it is too early to go for it IMO.
 
I still back Kubiak for going for it. If our D had a chance in hell of stopping them, I would say put points on the board with a FG. But, they don't, so we have to go for the TD.
 
Well, for anyone(including myself) who ***** and whine about not giving the ball to Foster on 3rd/4th and short, we now know why Kubiak hasn't done so in the past.

Nothing against the run game, the opposing D just makes the right call to stop the run.
 
On the bright side it's the 4th quarter and Schaub has done some magical things here even when he was terrible the previous 3.
 
The Texans never were a power running team. Either go for it fast with a QB sneak or pitch it to the outside - or even throw a short slant.

I don't either, sadly our defense is so bad that it is forcing the offense to take chances

Those three points are negligible in a game against Rivers. He can easily overcome a five point lead in one shot.

Sure, he can score quickly but still. It's early in the 4th. It's just the way I have always seen things.

If three points are pointless why didn't we go for it down there on the goal-line before halftime?
 
Just a yard? Im not watching but it seems like the run game has been fine. Unless something about that drive was different I don't see a problem with going for it there. Would have taken a minute or two off the clock and potentially put Houston up two scores. Risky for sure, but could have been worth it.
