I am elated that apparently Watson's surgery went well. I just get a little irritated when reports typically imply "success" of the surgery. That does not get determined until the player returns to play.........with performance comparable or close to comparable to that demonstrated pre-injury. Just a pet peeve of mine, even when a surgeon claims "success" immediately upon leaving the operating room. Only time determines our success.

For sure. I took it as there weren't any complications and he's on his way to recovery. To me it's more about him being in high spirits and still having fun. This is his job now; it's not always fun. I hope he's around the team still.

This is how I took the report also. What happens next is a function of how well his body heals and how the rehab goes. Those, IMO, are separate and apart from the slicing and splicing that happened in the operating room. i.e., if the doc did his/her job correctly but the athlete tries to come back too soon or doesn't follow the recommended recovery regime, I find it hard to find fault with the doctors.

I hate to burst the bubble but, unlike you or other more "learned" fans, most "lay" people interpret "surgery was successful" as being synonymous with the player/patient being fixed and will be good as new. I have learned early on of the need to specifically emphasize the difference with patients and their families immediately after every reconstructive procedure, or else their "outcome expectations" start off unrealistic from the beginning. It is much more difficult to explain this later in the recovery/rehab if things are not not going optimally................at that point, these explanations are seen as excuses.

Reporters commonly use the phrase "the surgery was successful." And readers will run with that. Good reporters will add something to the effect "but the hard work for the journey back has just begun."

I agree. It’s almost like saying “mission accomplished” when there are still battles taking place......

If you consider yourself as "unlearned" in the affairs of player injuries after being on this MB as long as you have been, I don't know what to say.

Just one time I want to hear a Dr. say surgery didn't go well and I dont know if this player is ever going to make it back.

I think Griffin would be better then most Texans realize, he's certainly better then Savage, Yates and Johnson.
He's a Deshaun Watson lite. No harm in giving him a shot for the remaining games....or for as long as he stay healthy

Still only 27 years old too. Both RGIII and Kaep are better than the three quarterbacks we currently have on our roster. But I guess we'll keep trotting out Tom Savage and keep scoring under 10 points while losing game after game.

It doesn't matter anymore. That ship has sailed. This owner and FO has obviously accepted losing out. If someone ever questions if the owner/FO truly care about winning beyond how it impacts merch sales, we now have solid evidence that they do not.

I don't believe the coaches and players have accepted it, though. Unfortunately, it's just not a good enough team under the circumstances to really compete with most teams.

Yep. I learned with 28 and 15 yo sons to just accept being an old man and the inevitable 'generation gap'. I don't even try to understand these days.

As long as DW4 doesn't crash and burn like VY, it's all good. :brando:

I only want change within the org and if it takes them falling on their faces to change things then so be it,

In short, seeing great players careers end without a sniff at a SB due to terrible mgmt should make you want the same thing.

it's one thing to want the team to win, get better players, make better decisions, to even want a coaching or GM change.

It's totally a troll thing to "enjoy" (your word, not mine) seeing them fail.

It's not like it took nastrodamuas to figure out that this was going to be a bad season.

When the Texans get fans like me feeling this way the franchise is losing support within the community and unfortunately that's what it will take for change to happen.

I agree with this, but I AM pulling for the Jaguars.... this season only. Only cause I don't want the AFCS to be taken by the Titans.

For one its the Titans and for two..... I love to see idiots like this guy learn about getting stupid tattoos, especially prematurely.

Good to see the therapy I recommended for you is working and you finally admit that you are NOT a Texans fan, you are just a Texans hater. Which everyone on this board except you has known for years.

If

DeShaun Watson, Jj Watt, & Whitney didn't get hurt for the Season this season could have been amazingly successful.

We even had promising prospects like Bruce Ellington & Dylan Cole miss games due to injury. & WFV, looked like he was going to break out with Watson under center.

I think if it weren't for those injuries, Nostradamas would have been shocked.
