Demeco is starting to give off Jason Garrett vibes.

Made your point?? LMFAO!!! I just laid it out for you so even a 3rd grader could understand. The Texans offense has been average in the league at best. What the f*** are you talking about with this 2/3 bullshit? And for the sake of argument let's say whatever it is you're trying to "make a point" about actually did, the Texans offense is still nowhere near the Ravens offense.

And the last time I checked points were what determined who won a football game, not yards. And what about all those different facets on defense that you conveniently ignore? There you're like screw all those same measures that go into the overall offense, the defense is #2 because yards baby!! WTF??!
I'll give you a number spreadsheet guy,

5-2 and yes they're going to struggle on offense while Nico's out. I remember a time when your spreadsheet told you that Nico sucked and Caserio sucked worse than Nico. SMH you need to get out of the basement.

False. The Texans have given up the 2nd fewest total yards on defense. That does NOT make their defense #2 overall. All other measurements that don't involve yards the Texans are middle of the pack or worse.
I’m just posting what Fox sports calculated and that’s it. They put them 2nd because of the total yards 277.

So you can ignore facts then turn right around and lecture me about them? Classic.

So the Texans being 14th in points scored is close to the Ravens #1? Hmm, interesting. 11th in total yards vs #1. Scoring on 39.8% of their possessions (15th), to the Ravens 50.7% (2nd). Average points per drive Hou 18th, Bal 2nd. Hou 5.4 yards per play (16th) to the Ravens 7.2 (#1). Expected points contributed by offense BAL (1st), HOU (19th). Ravens tied for fewest sacks allowed, Texans 4th most. 3rd down conversions, Bal 2nd, Hou 13th. Net yards per possession Hou 17th, Bal 1st.

So alright then. I can now clearly see how the Texans offense is so close to the Ravens. That and having the 2nd best defense in all of football, bring on the freaking Swifties.

Facts schmacts.
You do know none of those stats were generated in a vacuum right? Right now you're talking about a small sample size.

Are the Texans not ranked 4th in sacks?

Are they not a top 10 unit in forced turnovers?

Are they not the #7 defense in 1st downs allowed?

Are they not tied 2nd for rushing tds allowed?

Do they not have a legit DPOY candidate as of right now?

Ah I get it bro, Texans defense doing good is just a fluke. Yeah bro, just a big coincidence! Exactly man, total defense isn’t yards allowed per game. The nfl is just wrong! The announcers, analyst, etc. They shouldn’t have called the browns defense #1 last season because they were #1 in total yards allowed. Whether they’re #2 or not, what difference does it make? They’re still a top 5 unit.

Okay bruh… but…. It was a Josh Allen without any weapons. Not even Shakir. That should account for something derogatory against our defense..

Agreed but it doesn’t work like that. Josh Allen was the mvp front runner before that game. Going into the game, the narrative was Allen doesn’t need weapons to be effective. After, it changed to, he needs weapon lol I respect Shakir game but he wouldn’t have made a big difference. Allen looked lost that game and was inaccurate. It was surprising seeing a qb of his caliber have an off game but it’s not that shocking playing the #2 defense. Look at Jordan Love, he didn’t play well. He picked on a special teamer playing starter in Ross and almost lost the game due to his 2 interceptions.

Before last week they've gotten the stops that matter at the end of games.

Nick re-signed him.
The whole Tytus Howard Houston Texans tenure doesn’t make any sense. Drafted to play Left Tackle in the first round, you then cross train him on the IOL all through OTA’s and training camp, and replace him through a mega trade before the season begins. You then change your blocking scheme AND his position at regular intervals through his rookie contract, and you resign him to a big extension whilst he’s struggling with both injury and position.

Similar to many of the players on the line, we’ve chopped and changed what we want our OL to be so often whilst repeatedly investing big picks and contracts that force the next coach/scheme to try and shoehorn them into a different scheme.

Why do we have to believe? This isn’t a fairy tale. Things don’t magically happen. Until or unless the o-line improves and the offensive design and calls improve…we’re stuck in the mud. There’s so many things that frustrate me and it’s like bashing your head against the wall over and over and expecting something to change. I don’t expect any changes this week on a quick turnaround, but if they don’t get their head out of their ass by the Lions game, they will get rolled.

As far as the D…it’s not elite. Any decent QB wins today. Just because we keep beating crap QB’s does not make us elite. Wake me up when they can cover the deep shots. It’s also pretty plain vanilla. I’d like to see something a little more advanced at times, especially up front.

But…it is a good to very good defense and it’s carrying this team. The problem is Mahomes and Lamar Jackson are not Drake Maye and Anthony Richardson. It’s fools gold. Hell even though I’ve said all offseason that Rodgers is washed and the Jets won’t be very good…he’s good enough to kill this secondary on those deep shots whereas AR missed.

Uhh. Because we are fans?

We held Josh Allen to the -lowest- completion percentage of any NFL team this year and we did it again to AR5 to being the second lowest. We are #1 and #2 Our secondary and d-line is gelling into something -wicked- good.

CJ implying Texans pointing fingers, not buying in? Jesus Christ, smh.

Someone needs to get a hold of his…testicular fortitude and take control before things get out of hand! Speaking from experience, leading a big group of men as a plant manager for over 15 years now. Coming up as a young plant operator I had a variety of different personalities training/leading me and my fellow process operators, and let me tell y’all… the gentle/overly friendly ones dropped like flies. Why? No one respected them. We all knew the boss was “cool” and wouldn’t hold us accountable. I hope Demeco can find a balance of cool and no bs. I’m sick of the dysfunction!

Slowik is putting too much of the onus for the offense’s success/failure on the young man’s shoulders and he’s been pressing …that’s literally the opposite of what you’re supposed to be doing as an OC.

Kubes, like Meco, is an extremely likable coach with local ties. But neither is/was infallible or above criticism.

Unfortunately, DeMeco is making my comparison to Kubes look increasingly apt. I remember when Kubes refused to replace the DC. Finally , Mr. McNair stepped in, and forced him to do so. In walked Wade Phillips, and next year the defense was fire. Total turnaround.

Now we have the opposite. A DC as HC, who is afraid to shake the tree, plays favorites with friends and doesn’t understand offense well enough to even try to fix the problem. He’s expecting Bobby to fix it. Bobby has proven he can’t.

And here we are. Now Hannah will step in after the season, and force Meco to make a change.

If Demeco doesn't make a damn change NOW, he will lose the locker room! CJ has already gone on record insinuating that guys are not buying in and pointing fingers. That is a recipe for disaster. Hannah needs to force Caserio to step in if Demeco doesn't have it in him to make a change!

I'm telling you guys, while the petrochemical field is not the sports industry, I have witnessed the aftermath of weak leadership firsthand! You cannot NOT hold assistant managers/leadmen accountable for poor performance and expect for the subordinates to still be thrilled to come to work and give it their all. Before I became the (then) youngest Operations Manager in the Houston area, I witnessed about three Plant Managers get axed for being the nice, smiley, wannabe everyone's friend. Now, as the Plant Manager, I have a really tight knit/strong group of men and women top to bottom with open communication. It goes unsaid, but they all know that as long as they do their job well, as in not just the bare minimum, they'll always be taken care of.

This was a long way of saying that management/leadership matters and is where it all starts and ends. Demeco seems to be in over his head, and it won't end well unless he grows into the role very quickly and learns to not only hold people accountable, but also to cut ties with weak links very quickly.

100% agree with Mangler. He's playing the role of DC, but he was hired to be the HC.

This comes back to the question from Badboy. Wade was a much better DC than HC. Meco's book is still open and the chapters are being written.

He's very likely going to get his four years here, but if he doesn't make the mental leap from DC to HC...he'll be out and working back as a DC. And perhaps that is where he belongs.

Ryans will be alright. This is only his second year as a HC. Gotta give him time gents.
I've said something similar about Slowik, and it definitely applies to Ryans as well. Both experienced some success in year 1 and haven’t completely pooped the bed in year 2. How these young coaches navigate adversity is a key part of their development, and we probably won't like what we see during those challenging times. Ultimately, we can only hope that Ryans reaches the ceiling that many expect of him, and that he operates close to or at that level during his time here.

Demeco is growing as a hc. Yeah he made some mistakes this season and that’s to be expected from a young coach. I was close to giving up on him due to multiple reasons. Felt like after the consecutive 2nd half scoreless droughts, he wasn’t treating this as a business. One of his goals should be getting more involved with the offensive side.

I dont have an issue with him as a WR5.

What you cant have is 3 guys with the same skillsets at the WR position.
WR3, WR4, WR5, WR6, WR7 should be wide open competition. I have no problem with bringing Hutch or Metchie back to compete, but imo, the deck would be stacked against them. They would have to blow me away to even get on the practice squad.

Schultz overpaid but so bad you must do something
Make the right pick for oc and i think the texans have a chance
Help on ol, forget diggs but pu a proven wr, a little help on d…

Life is better not being stuck in the SLOW lane

I mentioned it in a different thread, but the comparison for me is Gary Kubiak not Garrett. Kubes was loyal to a fault with certain coaches and players. It hasn’t gotten to that point…yet. But I do see some mildly concerning things in that direction. It’s way way to soon to put those sorts of labels on him, but it’s something to keep an eye on as he matures as a coach. Still very happy Meco is here overall. Get back to me in 2026 or 27.
This comparison or Bum Phillips. Yelling at Kenyon, Schultz, Howard or Tunsil isn’t going to work. Kenyon has nothing to give and the other three got their money and are focused on that.
