Demeco is starting to give off Jason Garrett vibes.

I don’t think anyone truly wants a different HC. Ryans is the Texans HC now and for the foreseeable future. If by WK8 the Texans OL still hasn’t grasped how to pick up stunts….that should become an absolute concern for coaches, players and fans. The problem, this unit has been on the field together far more often than not to still be this crappy.

The defense should be fine as their injured personnel return to the field. The good, they weren’t horrible with almost half the starting unit out due to injury. This side will get better.

One of my favorite clips from when Barry Switzer was, supposedly, cowboys HC. I would like to see CJ start exerting his influence a little more.

I would agree that even we’re at 5-2, those two losses have shattered our preseason expectations into a million pieces. From watching some other team’s performances, it’s obvious we’re not Super Bowl contenders. Not even close. It’s actually good thing we’re realizing it now.

But whatever Demeco does, or actions he takes, will be inside the house. As a former player, that is how he will handle it. But the way I’m seeing it, the main issue with this team cannot be resolved with a quick fix.
I’m so jealous of both Vikings and Rams OL. We are so far behind them it’s not even funny. Is it coaching or ability or both? So sad..

Ravens have allowed 3 more tds than the Texans. I guess they aren’t superbowl contenders either.

Why you quoting me with that response? Never said anybody was or wasn’t a SB contender. I was simply responding to the fallacy of the Texans having the #2 defense. They don’t.

And if you want to compare to the Ravens, their offense is #1 in scoring, total yards, rushing yards and red zone. Texans offense not close to any of that. So there’s that.

Sideline footage often tell the tale. Typically if a guy is no nonsense like Paul Brown was, his demeanor doesn’t change ESPECIALLY during a game!

I’m not CLAIMING he is or isn’t of EITHER demeanor.

Well said Marcus ! You guys had better keep this in mind because we will probably get rouged up again, and maybe several more times this season. And we might lose this Sundays game,
so get your expectations under control.

How can it be resolved IYO?

Me and my brother were saying this a few weeks back. It is ok to be buddy buddy with them, but you need to let them know you run the show and they need to respect you. Same reason you don't let family come work for you, they will half ass everything and still expect a pay check...
Apparently you've never worked on the farm with my family.

Another reason the offense isn't performing as well as some think it should be is because they're missing the best WR in the NFL. That's worth 7-10 points per game right their.

Yes Sir, Nico is certainly in the conversation about who's currently the best receiver in the NFL.

By who? Detroit may have the kind of defense that can get that kind of consistent pressure on Stroud, but I doubt it without Hutchinson. Maybe Kansas City. But there's not a lot of fierce defenses left on our schedule.

Brian Gaine brought us Howard

OK so just just consider me your "Dutch Uncle" here: I look for losses vs the Lions, vs the Ravens, and of couse vs the Chiefs, and the Jets & Cowboys games look to be very challenging IMO.
At the beginning of the year I saw 9 or maybe 10 wins for the Texans this year and I still like
that scenario. Oh yea, and lets see how it goes this weekend ?

The Jets, Ravens, Chiefs and Lions all have solid defenses that can get after the quarterback. The Lions without Hutchison last week still recorded 4 sacks, and forced an Interception. Against the Cowboys, after Big H went down, they recorded 3 sacks and forced 3 interceptions. They stumped the mess out of those Cowturds.
Hopefully our line and offense will be up and ready for the challenge.

I think they win one of those games.

I don’t think anyone is calling for the firing of DeMeco or our vaunted GM. But constructive criticism is certainly fair. And as I said somewhere upthread, DeMeco needs to be careful not to cross the rubicon and get too cozy with guys. I am not saying he has. A lot…we don’t know. But when you have guys just phoning it in on the o-line and there is no visible accountability, it at least invites questions in that area.

That's not what I asked. We may lose those games but I doubt they're going to "rough us up"

:ok:

Lions are the only team I see who could potentially wreck us.

Cowboys stink pretty much all around

Ravens Defense isn’t all that this year, keeping up with their offense is what will the problem for us.

Jets almost got beat by will Levi’s and the titans

Chiefs look vulnerable, but you have to respect them b/c they are the defending champs

I could see us 3-1 the same as I could see us 2-2, 1-3 in those games. A lot depends on health.

I dunno Thunder I'm kinda afraid for litlle Bobby Slowick when he takes his offense into Arrowhead againt Chiefs DC Steve Spagnuolo's defense.
There are going to be some good games for sure. The Texans are going to lose some against good teams. But I'll be surprised if the OL looks as inept as they did against Greenbay or if Cj passes for less than 90 yards.

Not going to happen.

Texans offense are closer to the Ravens than 2/3rds of the league so idk why you made that claim.

You’re acting as if this defense is overrated. If anything, it’s underrated. A offense that struggles, fumbles in the opponent redzone, repeated 3 & outs. Why don’t you want to give them credit? I would take the #11 offense, #2 defense over the #1 offense, #24 defense any day. Before you say they’re not the #2 defense. The facts dosn’t care about your opinion. Get over it dude

But with the Jets, you also have to contend with their stadium... which if it decides to claim victims could be bad for the rest of the season.

Sounds like you're an ESPN stats junkie... It also says the 1-5 Tennesee Titans have the #1 defense... do you believe that to be true also?

There's absolutely no reason the Texans should lose to the Colts. None. But I know where to get some cool Klingon facepalm pics if they do. And I'll flood the ******* board with them. :)

If the Texans lose there will be enough poop smeared all over the last thing we will need are clingons.... I believe they used to be called "berries" of the dingle variety.

I'm counting on you be right about all of that - fingers crossed !
Seriously I like your confidence.

So you can ignore facts then turn right around and lecture me about them? Classic.

So the Texans being 14th in points scored is close to the Ravens #1? Hmm, interesting. 11th in total yards vs #1. Scoring on 39.8% of their possessions (15th), to the Ravens 50.7% (2nd). Average points per drive Hou 18th, Bal 2nd. Hou 5.4 yards per play (16th) to the Ravens 7.2 (#1). Expected points contributed by offense BAL (1st), HOU (19th). Ravens tied for fewest sacks allowed, Texans 4th most. 3rd down conversions, Bal 2nd, Hou 13th. Net yards per possession Hou 17th, Bal 1st.

So alright then. I can now clearly see how the Texans offense is so close to the Ravens. That and having the 2nd best defense in all of football, bring on the freaking Swifties.

Facts schmacts.

Maybe not, but until Demeco does something to fix this O-Line and/or assist in pulling Slowicks head out of his butt, then some fans will continue to make those comparisons. These issues have not been addressed 7 games into the season. Watching him smile and clap on the sidelines while our offense looks so inept is infuriating.
I have never agreed with anyone's post as much as I agree with this one.

Far from it. Stats allows you to track teams strengths and weaknesses. Not saying this is an all time defense but I disagree with the ideology of downplaying team success. Makes no sense to acknowledge the ravens as the #1 offense and not do the same for the #2 defense. The same defense that held mvp front runner at the time, Josh Allen to one of his worst performances.

Yes, the titans have a great defense despite allowing a lot of points.

You made my point. Total offense is considered the primary indicator of the best offenses because it directly measures the combined yardage gained by a team through both rushing and passing plays, providing a comprehensive view of how much ground an offense is able to cover on the field, essentially reflecting their overall offensive productivity across different facets of the game.

Stating the Texans offense being closer to the ravens than 2/3rds of the league was spot on. 11th out of 32 teams means the Texans are closer to the #1 offense than 21 teams.

Just because they are #2 in ypg allowed does not make them the second best defense in the league. Nor is the Titans defense anywhere close to being the best in the league

I wouldn't play anybody of significance against the NYJ

The offense really misses Nico.

Basically yes, the game last year ruined the rest of the season. Can't afford injuries like that again.
MetLife also scares me so I googled around. I found this article and I thought it was interesting. The Texans aren’t very far behind MetLife and the AFC South leads the NFL in injuries.

Made your point?? LMFAO!!! I just laid it out for you so even a 3rd grader could understand. The Texans offense has been average in the league at best. What the f*** are you talking about with this 2/3 bullshit? And for the sake of argument let's say whatever it is you're trying to "make a point" about actually did, the Texans offense is still nowhere near the Ravens offense.

And the last time I checked points were what determined who won a football game, not yards. And what about all those different facets on defense that you conveniently ignore? There you're like screw all those same measures that go into the overall offense, the defense is #2 because yards baby!! WTF??!

According to this site right here the Texans total defense is ranked 2nd.

Pass defense. 4th.

Rushing defense 8th

Scoring defense 17th

Red Zone defense 30th 72.2%

Third down defense 13th

False. The Texans have given up the 2nd fewest total yards on defense. That does NOT make their defense #2 overall. All other measurements that don't involve yards the Texans are middle of the pack or worse.
