Brady Quinn

Does anyone still think he has a chance to win heisman and do you think hell still be the # 1 player taken in the draft?

Well I think with Troy Smith playing an easier schedule then Quinn, he was never going to win the heisman because Smith would have the better stats. After that game I don't think theres even a slight chance he wins it now. As for him being the number one pick, it just depends on what the team with the first pick needs. I think he will be the first QB taken. But I think he will at least be the number 2 pick in the draft. Either him or Adrian Peterson will go first.

the nonsense about SOS is ridiculous- BQ has never played well against top-flight NFL-caliber athletes. michigan has those, in abundance. yours BQ, for size.

I say he just lost it. Troy Smith is the only QB that comes to mind that seems likely to get the Heisman. I like Adrian Peterson for the award though. He IS OU.

Are you kidding me? Yeah, last year his worst game was against Michigan. That was probably his only bad game. Look at the teams he played against. USCs Defense didnt have NFL caliber players? Give me a break. His O line didnt protect him last game and thats the exact same reason everyone thinks that David Carr sucks.

Quinn would not have won the Heisman anyways, but won't for sure now. I also dislike ND and their hype. Troy Smith won't win either, he will split his votes with teammate Ginn Jr.

Peterson will win it with some competition from Slayton.

On a side note, I like JaMarcus Russle as a draft and sit a year or two QB. He is out of LSU at 6'6, 250lbs. He has the speed of Vince, but is MUCH more developed as a QB and passer. He doesn't quite have Vince's vision when running, but has close to the same ability in that regard while embaressing Young with his arm. Russle has one of the best arms in all of football. Period. He can make every throw with touch and zip. He is the QB I want to draft.

I love Jamarcus but he isn't even close to vince when it comes to running ability. In fact, in the three years i've watched him play the longest gain he has running maybe 15 yards. However, he has made great strides in his QB play since last year and has really impressed me. He is making better decisions with the ball which was the one thing missing. He might be the most gifted QB in the nation and finally starting to show it, if only Jimbo would let him air it out some more.

He can still win it, but its not very likely. Almost every year the favorite at the front is not the one that wins it in the end.

After seeing Quinn against Michigan and now Michigan State, please, PLEASE let's not take him.

I don't care if he puts up the best combine numbers in history. You don't want a QB who pisses his pants at the first signs of a competant defense.

He just shut you up. Nice throw.

Edit: Rescinded...

i dont think he goes #1, i think adrian peterson will get the big check in april
i think troy smith will be drafted before quinn, and maybe even Drew Stanton

If, and I do mean IF Oakland picks first, Brady Quinn will be wearing the Silver and Black. No team needs a 1st round QB as bad as Oakland does. It is almost written in stone... No matter how bad he does. I remember a young QB who got outplayed in many games in College and wasn't projected to do much in the NFL. Allot of teams passes on him and took other QB's instead.

His name was Dan Marino.

No I am not comparing at all, just stating a fact...

Quinn has played himself out of the Hiesman, probably out of the top 10 and seems to be working on playing out of the 1st round. Good job.

And this is why Michigan State will never be anything more than eternal choke artists. I still cannot believe they did that. Staton was like 1 of 9 with 3 picks in the second half. One pick was called back, but it was a pick.

Unbelievable. And now Notre Dame has a creampuff schedule all the way to the USC game. They can coast.

i think brady played great at the end today and maybe cuz of his performance at the end gave him a lil shot at the heisman

Brady Quinn can forget the Heisman........ he needs to continue to play like he did in the fourth Qtr, just to stay in the top 10 of the draft.

^what? quinn is still the #1 pick in just about everyone's eyes. nothing can take away from his combination of size, arm strength, athletic ability, accuracy and general feel for the playbook. he makes some mistakes sometimes, but whatever...he's not a finished product yet.

Before today's game, I just want to remind people that Purdue's defense is almost dead last in the country, so Brady Quinn's stats are probably going to be very inflated.

And unfortunately, Notre Dame has a cupcake stretch in their schedule after today until they get to USC. So there won't be many more tests for a while.

I still am skeptical of Quinn. He played like garbage against Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl, and he played like garbage against Michigan at home this year. And he's fumbled. I thought Texans fans didn't like fumbling QBs.

Troy Smith plays better in big games than Quinn, and is a better athlete. Smith might on be in mock drafts yet, but if Ohio State runs the table and Troy Smith keeps up his level of performance he's had, he will be.

As a Georgia Tech fan I will have to give my obligatory push for Calvin Johnson. The guy lit it up against Virginia last week and Virginia Tech this week. If he had anything of a formidable QB he would be putting up astronomical numbers.

With that being said, WR don't win Heismans so I am picking Adrian Peterson to take it home.

Actually, I think that could end up helping Johnson. No one can say it was the QB that had the talent.

A lot of guys have been touting Calvin Johnson as the top WR in this draft, and that will be top 10 pick. If our defense was not so bad I would be saying having a WR that Moulds could train would be a major need. And either Johnson, Jerret or Ginn would be my choice for the Texans.

I think Carr has played well enough that the Texans can safely pass on Quinn.(Give me a break if anyone really thought we needed him). Peterson and Irons maybe different stories.

But forget it. Our defense is so bad, that we will have to take someone, most likely a FS, CB or LB. We also need a DT and a SS upgrade. Oh we could use 2 LBs but we probably do not go that far.

Calvin Johnson is the only offensive player I would be happy to draft in the first in '07. According to GaTech coaches his combine numbers will be historical and he has displayed the talent and demeanor on (and off) the field.

Total package.

I still want to draft a CB or LB in the first though.

If you haven't seen Calvin Johnson play you really need to....IMHO, he will be THE best player in this draft and probably THE best player to come along in a while....He is a physical freak...and if the Texans are in position to draft him I will be upset regardless of need or what not....him opposite A.J...OMG.....that would be nuts...with Moulds mentoring...

johnson has good speed for his size, but there's nothing "historical" about it.

lol...I don't think I've ever seen a guy who dwarfs DB's like that yet at the same time can run like a zebra...

I am from Atlanta and have been raised to bleed gold. I watch every Tech game we get here in Houston. The guy is amazing, I just thinking our defensive needs trump any offensive needs. But like I said, CJ is the only offensive player I would want to take in the first in '07.

kastofsna,
Johnson is 6'5" 235lbs. His coaches say he will run a 4.3 '40 at the combine and put up a 47" vertical. If this happens, it is historical.

I thought we had those in last years draft.

Every year...the biggest, the best, the fastest, game changing players.

Not aimed specifically at you xtra.

I personally haven't seen a reciever like him....You have to watch him play to know where I'm comin from....This guy towers over DB's, is bigger than some LB's....And can out run them all....and he has great ball skills.....I don't know of any reciever in the leauge that is like him...

And about Quinn....I wouldn't want Quinn even if Carr sucked and we were in position to draft him....He isn't that good...

every coach every year says every receiver runs a 4.3. i've seen him play, i've seen him run deep routes, i've seen run with the ball for huge YAC, and...he's not a 4.3. no way.

Great??? Quin is garbage...."great" players don't play like Quin has this season....Great??? far from it...
garbage? "garbage" players don't put up the kinda numbers quinn has in a pro-style offense. he's had a bad game, but it's hard to have a great game with consistent pressure all game long. but i could be wrong (no).

is what Calvin going to do anything more impressive than say Vernon Davis, not really. there are a lot of guys that are physical freaks. CJ is very fast though, like AJ they don't look like they are flying but there strides cover like 4 yards.

He looks like he flies to me...

I disagree. Wies is impressed and very high on Quinn. Weis has the credentials.

Don't let your dislike of ND cloud your judgement.

I only hope the cowpatties don't get him, they've taken two Irish players in the draft the last two years. I am sure it is a Weis/Parcells connection.

Right now we don't need another QB. Another steal like DeMeco on the D would be nice.

I don't dislike Notre Dame...I don't think Quinn is good...IMO he played better last year...I know the year is young, but it seems as if now that people have noticed him he hasn't taken to the spotlight too well...

you're acting like 4.4 isn't fast. he hasn't faced too many corners faster than him. except tye hill last year, who shut him down.

He's listed at 4.4. His coaches say he will put out 4.3 at the combine. We will know for sure in a few months. What we know right now is that he is a physical specimen with a sufficient body of work, he will make some team very happy.
