Big Board Thread

I would flip those but suffice to say we will agree to leave him (Blackmon) out of the Top 10.

Concerning OT's I just don't see one rated higher than say a Michael Oher, who was selected by the Ravens #23rd overall pick in 09. I still think one of the QB's already discussed & another DE maybe?

This is an overall big board right? I think you have to look at DE or a 34 specialist. If Miller has a great post season, he could go here. Similar to whatshisname that went to Washington.

Yes, Overall Big Board.

If its a DE/DT my choice here would be California Bear Cameron Jordan, 6-4 285. his linemate Tyson Alualu surprised everyone going #10 overall to Jacksonville. Been pretty solid for a rookie moving inside. Second choice would be Iowa DE/DT Adrian Clayborn, 6-3 286.

done!

1. Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford - 6'4 - 235
2. Patrick Peterson, DB, LSU - 6'1 - 222
3. A.J. Green, WR, Georgia - 6'4 - 212
4. Prince Amukamara, DB, Nebraska - 6'1 - 205
5. Da'Quan Bowers, DE, Clemson - 6'4 - 280
6. Nick Fairley, DT, Auburn - 6'5 - 298
7. Marcell Dareus, DT, Alabama - 6'3 - 306
8. Robert Quinn, DE, North Carolina - 6'5 - 268

bump!

looking for #9, #9, #9, #9, #9, #9, #9, #9

#9 Ryan Mallett

I don't think there is any way Mallett goes this high. And I don't think he will go before Newton. If Locker has a big game against Nebraska this time around, he will probably go before Mallett as well.

flipped a coin & its Locker. If he had come out last year Jake could have been a top 5 pick so I can live with it. I know there are some who would love to see him fall to their favorite team, but someone is going to need a QB & take him early, has all the measureables.

1. Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford - 6'4 - 235
2. Patrick Peterson, DB, LSU - 6'1 - 222

7. Marcell Dareus, DT, Alabama - 6'3 - 306
8. Robert Quinn, DE, North Carolina - 6'5 - 268
9. Jake Locker, QB, Washington - 6'3 - 230

on to #10

how about Cal DE Cameron Jordan, 6-4 285?

I'm good with Locker at #9, he has the physical tools that make GMs salvaite so that's fine. I personally like Clayborn or Bailey at #10, don't no much about Jordan however.

I expect the next few slots to go to defensive players because theres not much offensive talent this year (there is but not anything impressive IMO).

#10 Newton

Dont know much about Jordan. But if I had to pick a DE Clayborn would be my pick. He's not flashy but will be a 10 yr starter. Particullarly if he goes to a 3/4 team.

Seeing as how this could take a really long time let me throw out an idea. What if we were to get everyone who wanted to participate to give us the rest of their top 32. We can take the average of where they are slotted and put them on the big board. Any ties would be debated.

Or we can keep doing it this way.

Sounds like a great idea to me.

But I like the back and forth debate also.

This MB has great mock drafters and I like there thoughts on players that I might have a different idea than. Or a guy like Cam Jordan who I know very little about. But will study up on him bfore the combine. Any info on Jordan would be helpful.

if we can maintain this pace our taxanstalk group Big Board should be completed by the BCS game. by that time everyone, including underclassman will be dialed in & ready for everyone's mocking pleasure :mail:

this is what Rob Rang says about Jordon -
Jordan, 6-4, 285, doesn't have the name recognition of some of the other top defensive linemen available, but his size, production and versatility could result in a "surprise" first-round selection as similar traits did last year for former teammate Tyson Alualu.

Has more range than Clayborn from what I've seen, Clayborn has a better motor. Rang -
Clayborn isn't a dynamic edge rusher - a reason why he may slip to the middle or late first round

I know the guys want to go defense but Cam is still on the board & when I flipped the coin it was heads/Locker tails/Newton

Fantastic! That's a pretty good looking list.

for #11, I nominate Clayborn, your boy Jordan, Ingram or Paea.

Julio Jones

He would be a steal for a team like Cleveland/Chicago/STL at thr 10/15 spot in this draft. IMHO

good job everyone I think that's a top 10 to be proud of. its only going to get more difficult from here. can't rush this thing so expect it to slow down a bit, please hang in there need everyones input. thank you!

BL

Still no love for Mallett?

Blackmon should go before Julio.

Mark Ingram should be in the discussion now, along with Clayborn and Pea.

Not a fan of the OT's in this draft. Maybe bottom round 1.

Smith from USC just declared.

He's going to be the best LT in this class after he puts on a little weight. He's a stud. IMHO

With that said that I jumped the gun. # 11 Blackmon.

good catch, here is some more info -

Tyron Smith is really underrated, very athletic and would be a perfect fit for a ZBS like Texans. I felt the same way about Charles Brown last year & he didn't get selected until the end of 2nd rd. (New Orleans). Similar situation he lacks size & strength of other tackles like Sherrod, Carimi & Castonzo but by coming out early he gets a jump on competition & can have a big combine.

I suppose Blackmon could slide a little bit more like Dez Bryant did (#24) last year? I'm inclined to lean on DE/DT position just can't deceide between Adrian Clayborn & Cameron Jordan both seem like oversized DE's who can flip inside & fit a 3-4 scheme @ DT or play strongside DE in a 4-3 like Antonio Smith. Tyson Alualu was more squat/compact than teammate Jordan more like Clayborn a force inside @ line of scrimmage & he went 10th overall to Jascksonville playing role of penetrating DT. Both are worthy of top 15 billing but want to be sure we get #11 right first.

Gabe Carimi, OT, Wisconsin - 6'7 - 327

Isn't Lattimore a Freshman? He can't enter the draft, can he?

your right, my bad removed.

your #11?

I like your list and mine would be very similar with a few players moved around. At #11 I would go with Von Miller over Adrian Clayborn because as far as I know he's never had issues off the field and has been consistent throughout his career at A&M.

As for Lattimore, if he keeps things up he could easily become a top five pick down the road.

I really like Brandon Harris right around here. He is just a tad behind the big two and with the way the league is, a shutdown corner will go high.

like around 20 :heh:

Von Miller/Clayborn/Julio Jones/Blackmon/Sherrod/Ingram/Mallett/Paea/Bailey/Harris

now then please rank these prospects

11. Clayborn
12. Von Miller
13. Paea
14. Bailey
15. Jones
16. Ingram
17. Blackmon
18. Sherrod
19. Harris
20. Mallett

I'm not sure that I would want Harris over Jenkins as the 3rd cb.
I think that both Solder & Smith might wind up rated higher than Sherrod. And Castonzo may be as well. I think that Mallett may be too high here. I'm not that high on him.
