I crush OB as much as anybody but I only do so because it's usually always warranted. I don't think that applies here. It might not be a great pick but I think it's far from horrible. In fact, early grades (taken with a grain of salt of course) are giving the Texans an A with both their picks. I think it's hard to argue against that.

Jeremiah has Blacklock projected to be selected by the 49ers near the end of the first round, though the numbers would warn against picking the TCU product that early. Blacklock enters the draft with an overall draft score of 59, thanks to below-average marks in all three primary NGS scores (58 production, 62 athleticism, 68 size). Checking in at 6-foot-3, 290 pounds with 32 3/8-inch arms at the NFL Scouting Combine, Blacklock came in smaller than the 6-4, 305-pound listing from the TCU web site, and he never generated more than 3.5 sacks in a season. His 5.5 career sacks and 15.5 career tackles for loss (across two years) look more like single-season numbers for other prospects in this year's class. If Blacklock is selected in the first round, he will be just the third defensive tackle taken in Round 1 since 2003 with an overall draft score below 60. The other two -- Dominique Easley (29th pick by the Patriots in 2014) and Justin Harrell (16th pick by the Packers in 2007) -- each started in fewer than seven career games at the NFL level.

With all due respects, his stats come from ONLY 2 years.............his 2017 freshman year when he was overweight and not that muscular, and his 2019 season............the latter season coming off of a missed 2018 season due to an Achilles rupture. For the first year back from that injury, 2019 would have to be considered an amazing season. Subsequent performance 2 years following an Achilles rupture has historically been a big jump from the first year post injury. During his rehab year, Blacklock purposely reshaped his body losing 36 pounds going into the 2019 season..............a post Achilles season that reflected all of his hard work. I see only good things for him as a Texan, especially with the NFL strength training and the benefit of Weaver's coaching and scheme. As much as I liked Reader, I don't see us missing him now that Blacklock has entered the picture.

With all due respect nothing you said Alleviates my concerns that he was largely unproductive in his college career. if anything it intensifies them.

I was down the road a bit at Cherry Point Naval Air Station at Havelock. But 1971 to 1973. In NCO school we spent disastrous overnighter at Lejeune training to attack machine gun nest. Stupid helicopter pilot chased snake on ground, dropped us well away from landing zone. 100 % casualties and later had booby trap explode in my hand. Lejeune not good for me. I've been researching what happened to brig I worked in at NAS but zero info. I suspect it was closed years ago. Many, many memories of that prison and the countless "boys of the institute". I've often thought of writing a book about my experiences in the Marines

He should fill the role I think Weaver wants him to play at 285 to 290 than 305. Also think some team may cut a traditional nose Obrien may pick up.

No I haven't. Hope they found a way to lighten it up a little. :)

Really don't have much interest in firearms.

Have a couple around the house but haven't fired a weapon since I went target shooting with my deer hunting son two years ago.

Remington bolt action 30.06 put two rounds 2" above bull at 100 yds after sitting in closet for over thirty years. Gave him the rifle.

I understand and it was lightened. Happened on tv episode about it some time ago.. I'm not a hunter nor against it but some I know personally are...over enthused for lack of better word for it and same with weapons. I have a .410 shotgun, .38 revolver and 9mm pistol for home and personal protection. I seldom talk about or present to others for oohs and ahhs. I get that people like to handle them, cleaning and hunting but many just have to feel their own muscles swell.

I imagine riding in the late "badboy" was much more fun than shooting firearms.

Sometimes sounds like ww3 around here with all the locals playing with their ak's. Lots of $ going up in gunsmoke.

Blaylock would have greatly benefited, playing outside of Reader. Letting Reader go was a ginormous miscalculation, if you really want to build a dynamic defensive front. They’re all specialists nowadays with some exceptions like JJ Watt. Least give him more help inside so he can adjust quicker be more affective and successful.
